BitTorrent Inc. recently announced it has reached an important milestone of a combined hundred million monthly users of both the BitTorrent Mainline and uTorrent clients. In addition, it is reported to achieve an average of 20 million active users per day.
A significant milestone was announced by BitTorrent team: one hundred million active users a month. In a press release, the BitTorrent team has thanked all the members for being a part of its astounding growth. The announced amount represents the total user base of the BitTorrent Mainline combined with uTorrent applications.
CEO of BitTorrent Inc. called this day “an exciting milestone” for the team, adding that their vision was to create a complete technology ecosystem comprised of applications, material and devices, all destined to connect material creators with a digital audience. Today’s milestone of 100 million users emphasizes the size of their total user base, as well as the power of their software.
Other statistics of BitTorrent Inc. revealed that the company’s clients can boast more than 20 million average users a day, involved in more than 400 thousand average client downloads a day. The audience is comprised of different nationalities, as the clients support 52 languages, including English. In fact, BitTorrent Mainline and uTorrent clients are checking in from more than 220 countries daily.
The milestone is believed to be deserved, as in 2010 BitTorrent Inc. has been working eagerly to increase the popularity of its applications. It opened up the Apps SDK to third party developers in order to provide them with a possibility to create more features for clients’ users to enjoy in the App Studio. And the developers were fast to use that opportunity – the latest creations included the VLC media player application for one-click file streaming. Another interesting creation was µCast, enabling users to create TorrentCasts – lists of their own files to share with others.
Last week BitTorrent Inc., heading into the CES in Las Vegas, also said that it is going to showcase the entirely new BitTorrent technology ecosystem, representing a kind of an orchestra of applications, devices and material designed to make the digital lifestyle easier and connect digital works creators with their massive audience.
