This week appeared to be rich on innovative ways for copyright owners to profit from illegal content distributed online. A few days ago manga creator came out with his idea of integrating ads into illegal videos and transferring all revenues to copyright owners, and now the same idea is suggested towards music.
Everyone knows what amount of music is being shared online without permission from rights holders, but few can invent something to help both parties stuck in this copyright issue. That was true until today – a new system is going to legalize unauthorized music of all sources: whether it comes from a BitTorrent tracker, cyberlocker or even your colleague’s hard drive.
The new approach is meant to turn piracy into profit which won’t hurt consumers. Moreover, it will embrace pirates! How can that be? It’s easy. The system will thrive on the very existence of illegal music being made available from any source, simply monetizing it. Danish company 7 Sky Media claimed that it has developed a system able to turn dreams into reality. The software they developed was designed to play any type of digital files and locate the rights owners regardless of where the content came from. 7 Sky Media now positions itself as the only company in the whole world that offers the music industry earnings from the incredible amount of illegal music.
The product this company offers is embedded into both a hardware digital music player and a software-based solution. It works the following way: each time an Internet user plays the illegal music through either of the variants, he sees an advertisement, and the advertisement revenues are passed to the rights owners. On the other hand, the users will have a choice – for a small free they would be able to obtain completely ad-free players, and money will also be forwarded to copyright owners. Since the new product works as a plug-in, the freedom of the users on which player to use is also untouched. Moreover, the company promised a soon integration with social media apps.
The company also pointed out that they have spent about three years on agreements and contracts, so the product offered is not just an idea, but a ready product which can help unknown musicians to monetize their music without a record label.

So by playing music now we are basically sending an open invitation to adware? I'll pass
Looks to be a type of malware some idiot would fall for.
Many types of software already out there that plays almost all digital files - like VLC as just one.
Of course they could make a web site where anyone could go; click on the song and listen to it while getting ads? BUT if they don't want ads pay money? LMFAO...
You know I could or anyone with computer knowledge run this scam. Suppress the ads from the viewer; BUT still show it as clicked and get paid by the viewer and the ads companies at the same time. Remember the ads click on a sponsored link and get paid? I do.. People came up with software that would do this for you and while you were sleeping. Even when you weren't there doing it. The ad Co.s didn't like that..
The bottom to this is this.... Even if and they do it even today; try to block a user from downloading from a site that has listen only will not work given the way information is transmitted over a network; internet, etc.
No problem; you listen to what ever file you are listening too; then while it is playing use a capture software and now you have it. An example is the Youtube downloader and others.. As soon as the file is transmitted there is no way the web site can keep a user from capturing it and using it...

Really and of course hackers wouldn t every give users ad free versions of players idiots
no body wants to look at advertisements. just look at why cable or satelite tv is hard to watch now with so much advertising
Another take on the situation
Most people of this community would know that Rockmans post could be done so no harm to the community
Copyright holders getting there slice
community still gets it all free and no risk of prosecution sounds win win
torrenting in the open the community would explode over night
just trying to think of a few positives if it did come to past
|that will be a bad turn with ads||
