The company gave specifics on promised program combining free entertainment and service offerings in order to make up for almost 25 days of PSN outage caused by hacker breach of the network’s security.
Late last week the company finally began the long-anticipated process of resuming the PlayStation Network. Meanwhile, Sony has also announced its plans to restore the trust of its customers, too.
PlayStation Network users lost service on April 20th, when the company discovered the hacker attack, which resulted in the breach of the security of the network. It took several days for the company to admit that the data of more than 70 million accounts might have been compromised during the attack. The situation even caused the filing of several class-action lawsuits complaining about the Sony’s failure to properly secure customer information.
Now, in its attempt to make up for the inconvenience, the company announced the offering of a “Welcome Back” program. The latter would include free entertainment and service offerings, combined with a month of free PlayStation Plus premium service, available to all existing PSN customers. In addition, Sony promised to provide a year’s worth of identity theft protection.
The other details of the “Welcome Back” program have been unclear until now, but today the company specified what exactly it would be. It announced that any PSN customer would be offered to select 2 games from inFAMOUS, Dead Nation, LittleBigPlanet, Wipeout HD + Fury, and Super Stardust HD.
Talking about PSP owners, the company will offer them to download a couple of games from Pursuit Force, LittleBigPlanet, Killzone Liberation, and ModNation Racers. For both categories of users, the selected games would be available for a month right after PS Store is restored, and they can be kept forever.
But that is not all. The list of bonuses is long, as the program was developed as an expression of Sony’s gratitude for users’ patience, support and loyalty. Among other things, the company will enable a selection of “On Us” rental movie titles over one weekend, where Video Service is available. However, the list of titles hasn’t been announced yet. 30 days free PlayStation Plus membership will be offered to non-PSP subscribers, and 60 extra days – for existing subscribers. The offerings will also be made for Music Unlimited Premium Trial subscribers and PlayStation Home.

WTF?!? Sony is gonna share movies for free? What a concept... does the MPAA know about this?
Thanks for update sam
store is still down
@ Brynn: It's not free it's not like they're not paying for it because the are paying for the rental. Think of it like when a buddy punches you in the face and to apologize he rents you a movie.
@TheWantedNewfie: That had to be the best example I've heard all week. Also, the visual is hilarious!
@Onra666 Infamous and Dead Nation will be replaced with Super Stardust HD and Hustle Kings for Germany.

I'm far from feeling "appreciated". I have all five of those games. So... I get nothing?
@soxfan93 basically... i think sony should let us choose any 2 games from playstation store n thier being cheap giving us them games.. so what if people got games like modnation or dc universe u would still have to pay a sub fee for dc n modnation has dlc u have to pay for also.. trust me im gratful for getting something free but i was thinking what about the people that already have them games????
Just to clear it up, games available for download will be:
LittleBigPlanet, Infamous, Dead Nation, Wipeout HD & Fury expansion and Rachet and Clank: Quest for booty ... unless you live in germany where you will get to pick from:
LittleBigPlanet, Hustle Kings, Stardust HD, Wipeout HD and Fury expansion and Rachet and Clank: Quest for booty
@Baronboom: You really think so? I thought it was a lame comparison. If a buddy punched me in the face he couldn't just make it up to me by renting me a movie. Also, to us the videos WILL be free since we don't have to pay to watch them, so yeah that qualifies as FREE.

|Sony picks up the tab for all "free" downloads. Pretty obvious. Devs/Studios will still get their money.||
