Hackers from the United Kingdom, who don’t like the idea of their Prime Minister David Cameron making attempts to improve relations with Russia, are reported to have taken offline the site of the Russian embassy.
This was during the first visit by a UK leader to Russian capital Moscow since the 2006 killing in the United Kingdom of Alexander Litvinenko, a Kremlin critic. The United Kingdom was actually outraged when a dissident was murdered. The matter was that the murder didn’t just happen on British soil, but it was radioactive polonium-210 put into tea, which doesn’t sound like cricket.
Although the trail led to the Russian Federation, the authorities turned out to be very uncooperative, especially when Inspector Knacker of the Yard claimed they wanted to finger the collar of an ex-KGB bodyguard Andrei Lugovoy. In other words, the international relations between the Russian Federation and the United Kingdom were not that warm until David Cameron became a Prime Minister and decided to forget the past.
Media reports claim that the Russian embassy announced it had established a mirror site at www.rusemborguk.ru in order to cope with the increased interest of both the community and local media for data before David Cameron flies to Moscow this Sunday. However, the website of the Russian Embassy in the United Kingdom (www.rusemb.org.uk) is still offline, brought down by an alleged distributed denial of service attack, or that’s what the embassy claimed in its statement.
The site in question contains articles by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and by Alexander Yakovenko, Russia's ambassador to the UK, on the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, David Cameron’s, 24-hour visit.
