The monopoly of the United States regarding the digital entertainment industry is at stake with political changes in Europe becoming appreciated very much. Pirate Party, a digital freedom outfit, was initially founded in Sweden, and is currently occupying fifteen seats in the German parliament. The movement also spreads across Europe and Middle East. The goal of the party is to fight for individual freedom, particularly online.
The US music and movie industry stance against unauthorized file-sharing has been constantly affecting other countries, so today it is the right time to do something about the measures meant to stop piracy.
Pirate Party explained it aims at changing worldwide legislation to facilitate the emerging information society. They believe we should legalize and facilitate the sharing of both culture and knowledge (file-sharing). According to the Swedish Pirate Party’s founder, the party seeks to protect the ability to observe, report and share in some other ways. In other words, they want to legalize file-sharing and thus enable everyone to exchange digital copies of their favorite entertainment content.
For example, the videogame industry has long exceeded Hollywood’s revenues, accounting for $60 billion annually. The matter is that economy of the United States relies on selling digital versions of the media and software products. So, if the Pirate Party succeeds, the US may lose hundreds of billions of dollars. However, the Pirate Party believes that it’s not piracy, but monopoly that is killing creativity. For instance, in the Middle East Hollywood spends outstanding amounts of money on blockbuster movies, thus leaving other independent movie makers empty-pocketed.
At the same time, the party pointed at the ridiculous American laws against piracy, penalties for many of which simply exceed manslaughter. Moreover, digital copyright legislation for some reason is already enforced outside North America. In other words, the real danger is in copyright owners creating a censorship society to enforce the copyright monopoly.
The Party hopes that the 15 seats in the parliament will be able to change something about international copyright legislation. The Pirate Party is active in fifteen countries, while being recognized by the respective election authority in eighteen countries, receiving the strongest support from Europe and Latin America.

us greed at its best and then send all of the dvd making jobs overseas anyways
Greed... It runs this country... Why do you think the money is green and politicians are red...
The problem is greedy companies and America gets blamed for it; this issue is international not just the US.
This greed is also international in scope.
The powers to be - the greedy bastards have everyone right where they want us; pointing the finger at the wrong problem while they laugh at us. Remember; the greedy pricks in governments cost you and I trillions of dollars. The American people voted for change and look what they got? Royally screwed and the banks with fiat money they will have to pay back goes into the pockets of greedy bastards that created this situation in the first place.
remember what happened in France? This happened before and the people there dragged the pricks to have their heads cut off..
