Industry members are already familiar with the Motion Picture Association of America and its methods of enforcing anti-piracy legislation. Many remembers 2008, when the movie industry pushed the PRO-IP Act through, which finally allowed the federal government to seize and take offline domain names that were regarded as copyright violators.
This year the Motion Picture Association of America has become the uncrowned king of the anti-piracy battle with the industry’s biggest campaigning – so-called “rogue websites” law, which a lot of users remember, thus granting more power to the same government.
Last year, Viacom, whose Paramount subsidiary is actually a member of Motion Picture Association of America, has told in the interview that a new wave of online piracy might threaten the media business of the United Stated, if the company lost its copyright infringement lawsuit launched against YouTube. The Motion Picture Association of America stated that when profits are reduced, the movie studios have less money to invest in the industry, which results in making fewer films. Finally, the diversity and variety of movies loved by us become too limited.
Meanwhile, CNN has recently reported on the twenty biggest CEO pay raises. Surprisingly enough, it turned out that Viacom’s head Philippe Dauman ended up on the first position, with a pay of over $50 million last year, which was 150% paycheck improvement if compared to his income in 2009 of $34 million. In addition, the plummeting revenues of the American copyright industry have already surpassed the entire country’s economy, but all this was old news. As for Viacom and the Motion Picture Association of America, they both refused to comment on this finding.

i really want to know how these so-called CEOs, CHAIRMeN, PRESIDENTs, OWNERs spend their gazillion SALARIES, INCOMES, BONUSes, STOCKshares.... and how much they spend a day, a month, a year? how much they spend for a lunch or dinner? where they live? what kind of qualities and odors their crap smell and look like? any big difference from ours? how much money they got means "enough"?
why those companies, corporates, organizations need or have to pay these fat cats so much? and the thing that puzzles me most is: where all their money go?
if these companies/corporate did not pay these guys so much, all their employees might get higher pay, better health coverage plans, all their products might not be so expensive and then we might not have to become freebies, trying so hard to get free chows.
I think Pink Floyd summed it up:
"If they took all the money in the world and passed it out equally,
there still wouldn't be enough to go around."
Our global society today is suffering from the GREED we as a group allow others to get away with.
We have elected the wealthy into office and they control the LAWS.
As things stand many "Wealthy" (read GREEDY) pay far less in taxes than "regular" people (read you & me).
Do you think they are going to make changes that would restrict their income or their GREED??
If you are GULLIBLE enough to believe so, Please contact me.
I have a bridge for sale in Brooklyn that might interest you............

"...the movie studios have less money to invest in the industry, which results in making fewer films..."
Many of the new movies suck anus anyway. Some of the greatest films to this date are low budget with unknown actors and minimal crew. Or, if it's big-names then it was from decades ago when they were paid hourly salaries and not contracted multi-million dollar deals.

A $16 million dollar raise on top of an already ludicrous salary, unbelievable! How much infrastructure would $16 mil. buy? How many employees were laid off or denied a raise to pay for his fat ass? How many millions were spent on attorneys trying to censor freedom.
We can only hope that Judges begin seeing through this corruption and start telling these greedy bastards where to stick it.
just think how much fuel would cost if the oil companies would just cut their profits in hslf.
if one company can make 120 billion dollars profit a year, then how overpriced is fuel?
there is surely no shortage... so why not just make 60 billion and reduce the price to the people? they are not investing all that money... profit is after operatiing expenses...
and where does it go? nowhere... it just sits there
