Google’s Internet browser Chrome is currently just inches past Firefox, which makes it the second most used Internet browser worldwide, after Microsoft’s Internet Explorer. But only a few inches, actually.
According to the statistics provided by StatCounter, last month Google’s Chrome was seen inched past Firefox, accounting for 25.69% share of the worldwide market. Meanwhile, the Mozzarella Foundation’s Internet browser Firefox managed to get only 25.23%. This means that in reality, the browsers are just about level pegging. However, the statistics prove that Chrome is growing at a really phenomenal rate.
As you might remember, Google has released Chrome only 3 years ago, and within this time the browser in question has managed to match Firefox and, according to the industry experts, will also represent a threat to Microsoft’s Internet Explorer. The observers promise that the industry can look forward to a fascinating war of browsers between Microsoft and Google. The experts point out that the statistics in question are based on actual internet usage, but not pure downloads, which means that Google’s Chrome didn’t just manage to worm its way onto personal computers. However, the young browser still has a while to go before it reaches the level of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, dominating the market for many years.
In the United States, for instance, Internet Explorer occupies more than a half of the market, and the share keeps growing in comparison with the last year’s usage. Meanwhile, Firefox is on the second place in the country, accounting for 20%, but its share fell almost 7% since 2010. This means that the Americans are actively switching to Google’s Chrome, which saw a growth from 11% in 2010 up to 17% this year. Finally, Safari accounts for around 11% thus far. Unfortunately, the experts didn’t even mention poor old Opera, which is also used by many web surfers.
Anyway, the difference between Firefox and Google Chrome as competitors to Microsoft’s Internet Explorer on the browser market is that the applications are backed by very different corporations: while the Mozilla Corporation is dedicated to looking after the financial operations of its open-source Mozilla project, Google seems to be dedicated to taking over the entire world.

In the previous months Google Chrome was nothing special to me until I start making money on <a href=" Its as proven to be extreme fast with my somewhat slow internet!!
It is easy to use, like the way the downloads link go to the bottom of the browser, the address/search bar is very usefull...
Google chrome to the world!!!

I've been using Chrome since it's debut, really fast browser, faster than any other browser out there. So there's now doubt for it to be on top.
As a web designer, I use firefox. All of its built in web developer tools as well as the large number of addons from mozilla's website make it a very great web browser.

I've been using Firefox for years and with it's built in security and ease of use will not go to anything else just yet. By the way when i access Android Market on my Xperia I cannot get Firefox, Google Chrome is the only browser that comes up even when entering 'firefox' in the search criteria. Is this a way of ensuring market dominance???
maxthon is the fastest browser ,but it doesnt have the add on capabilities of firefox,

Idk how ppl use FireFox ..its always updating. That's so irritating
I have been using comodo dragon which I suspect is a crome clone with their own added security measures. At first it was difficult to get into it but now I like it the best. Safari does have some cool features I liked but I am not missing it at all now.

i use chrome. it's best
you can turn off updates in firefox.
chrome sucks and its irritations all of the google updates that are made.
at least in the version chrome i have, you can't turn that off, plus it likes to freeze or sit there for long periods and that is a pain in the butt...
for me, chrome was a waste of time and a hassle, i'll stick with firefox...

I use all the major browsers IE9,Firefox7, chrome & Safari all for different reasons I find IE9 the most reliable because everything is made using IE as a standard. I prefer Chrome but have noticed it can be a bit buggy with some websites.
i use both chrome and firefox.....

chrome is awesome
I agree with a majority of the posts.
When I have to use micrcrap I use Firefox.
Tried Chrome and others and each have certain features in them you can not turn off and I don't like that.
When using Linux Firefox I use.
I will never use internet exploder - sorry internet explorer.
Microcrap still hasn't got it and still demands the market you and I take what they say we have to use.
Apple does this as well.
As for IE the reason I refuse to use it it is slow; bloated and full of crap ware I don't need or want. The high security risk of active-x alone should scare you enough not to use it. We all know way too many Microcrap active-x certs get counterfeited and spoofed all the time. Would you want software that automatically installs apps with out your knowledge and or asking permission?
Yea Yea I know all about the so called security settings; BUT they still do not stop the installs.
Many malware sites use active-x to infect your system.
Yes I know java is also used and it is harder to infect a system correctly configured java to stop allot of it.

INTERNET EXPLORER? Who uses that? Their users are the lazy ones who don t want to install new software!
If it wasn't a built-in sofware of Windows who would download it?
firefox is unbeatable for web design with the tools available.. Web Developer and FireFTP are so useful..
but for every day stuff chrome is so much faster to load up. It is a bit of a system hog if you leave it running, so shut it down once every couple of days and its fine..
IE still seems slow and bloated, and it's been that way since IE4 came along.. IE 10 does look much better though..

Without IE included with windows, u can't surf any webpage & couldn't download any Browser.
Don't You think how essential IE is?
just download one on your android phone, transfer it to windows and install..
no need for IE..

Chrome is a terrible program. Instantly searching when you type, forcing auto complete, no useful extensions, and so much more. Chrome will force you, one way or another, to use google tools they way google wants you to use them because at the end of the day they are a search company, not a browser company. they make money by you using their search. Firefox on the other hand can only benefit if the browsing experience as a whole is what customers want. Stay away from Chrome.
i use both chrome and firefox myself also, they both have there ups and downs
FireFox is best.
@22 - Having read your comment, it seems your dislike of chrome mostly stems from your dislike of google. Instant search can be disabled. I think you're referring to auto-fill and this can be disabled too. Chrome also allows you to set other search engines as your prime search engine. What google tools are you referring too that? I have never been force feed google tools. Chrome is king in my opinion!
BTW: I use google chrome and firefox for web developement
