Good news for people staying far from home on holidays but willing to torrent remotely! As you might already know, remote file-sharing has been available for a while thus far, as uTorrent’s Remote App was quite helpful for that. But in a case when you need to download a file from outside your home – for example, when you visit a friend or stay in another country – Dropbox offers a better solution than the one provided by uTorrent Remote.
Dropbox is widely known as a cloud-based service, which provides its users with the opportunity to synchronize files between modern devices and the cloud. In addition, the user is also able to access files through using the service’s site. This now allows them to send torrents to uTorrent remotely. In order to do that, you must first install Dropbox on your PC, then create a new folder within the installation directory, and finally launch uTorrent. In the application, visit Options -> Preferences, choose the Directories tab and check “Automatically load .torrents from”. Underneath you should choose Dropbox’s newly created folder. It is that easy!
After completing this procedure, you can log into Dropbox’s online service from any PC and save torrents into the folder you just created. Within this operation, the cloud will synchronize the torrent files with your PC located at your house provided it is online. If the computer is online right after you have uploaded your torrent files, it will automatically start download. Otherwise, downloads will start as soon as your PC is online and uTorrent is launched.
This seems to be a very convenient way to share files remotely. However, if you don’t like Dropbox for any reason, you are able to use most of the cloud-based services available online.

Dropbox has problems, a friend brought a 100gb plan, used about 30Gb and he was told he was over the limit. He hates it now.
Another problem is a couple of movies and you would be over the limit.

@reargunner , Your friend is clueless and should have cap'd the torrents upload speed for the fact that he was uploading more info to other people wanting the torrent then was downloading. SOOOOOO sick of NOOBS b!tching coz they [email protected] up with basic settings on a sh!t plan.. PS 100gb would give ya around 50 movies if your setting are correct

@Madmazz You hit the right point
i think your missing the point, you save the tracker in your dropbox account and the pc at home will start downloading via utorrent or bitorrent , storing the downloads in the folder you choose ie. Torrents
this location should not be in the dropbox. but on your hardrive or external.
the idea is you can start a torrent from the office and by the time you get home the dl will have finished, ready to watch for when you return..
madmazz doing that would mae u a leach and if was a private tracker (dunno if they work) you would get banned for throttling your upload speed its all about sharing and free! this isent either just another fad wont be long before u need a licence for utorrent?
also you have to pay fro drop box? so they have all your "REAL" details? im sorry but i wouldt ay for anything like that and then put illigally donwloaded content on it? r u mental
i think this is the start of the demise for utorrent i really do! i only use old versions but pff commercialism sucks

@m1nc3m34t Dude do you not have a brain? Did you not understand what i was saying? SOOOO do you expect me to pay more $$$ so you can use what lil extra bandwidth i can get considering on my home network i get 500gb a month, which 200gb every month goes to uploading to others.. And for REAL details, its not hard to get a fake id and open a fake bank account to feed it but as you already shown that you not only have no clue you are not the connected type
thnx for the article as always......where u gettin 500gb month that be nice, i have 200 gb a mnth here.
Madmazz, my friend did not use torrent with dropbox just used it for storage.
Doing a net search there seems quite a lot of complaints with dropbox
Did we all forget that Dropbox was sharing encryption keys with law enforcement without warrants. Also that there reps where actively looking into customers accounts, when they where supposedly not able too. Dropbox is damaged goods.

Cloud file-hosting service Dropbox left 25m users' accounts unlocked for four hours
Dropbox, the cloud-based file-hosting service, left all 25 million of its users' accounts open to all comers on Sunday when it accidentally turned off its password security system, its security is a joke.
its ok i like too share my donkey porn collection lol j/k i do like the instant public links that have no timelimit on the free account aslo and will stream video right from them also which was nice ,everyone has opinions life goes on.

|This works really well - thanks for the tip. Just follow instructions. Drop box is extremely convenient and useful, shame about the security issues though, i was not aware of that.||
