If you still remember the Sweden’s latest official religion, which is called the Missionary Church of Kopimism, you might be interested in the way the things are with the religion right now. This church, advocating peer-to-peer piracy, has recently been attacked by the Roman Catholic Church. The accusations are that the Missionary Church of Kopimism is farcical.
According to Bishop Peter Ingham, head of the Catholic Diocese of Wollongong in Australia, the religion in question was actually a send up of religion, that of copyright and of the government to register such a group as religious. He insisted that the religion should be measured somehow, and if it has nothing to do with God, it's just a sham. In other words, the new trend looks like just a way of bypassing the law of piracy and copyright. Indeed, how could a religion promote unauthorized activity?
In response, the file-sharers pointed out that it is more ironic that someone living in a place named Wollongong, disbelieving in having sex, wearing a dress, and believing his boss is infallible labels any religion as farcical. Actually, in Sweden anyone is able to create a religion if the group is organized and the actual content of a religion isn’t examined.
Despite the fact that the Missionary Church of Kopimism doesn’t have any requirements for its congregation to violate the law, Pirate Party founder Rick Falkvinge explained that if the group saw file-sharing as a religious act and the Church ran its own servers, then the group could be seen by the authorities as a religious confession. In its turn, it means that the police and authorities can’t listen in on them. Moreover - a priest can even go to jail for inadvertently disclosing something said under the privileged conversation of confession.

oh yeah baby now thats what im talkin about finally somebody puts religion to an actual good use , good one keep it up xD
'how could a religion promote unauthorized activity?'
This coming from a church that has often IGNORED one, REGULARLY ignored a second, and WEEKLY ignores a third of it's OWN COMMANDMENTS ...
VI) Thou Shalt Not Kill ... How many were killed by the catholic church during the Inquisition and the Crusades??
IX) Thou Shalt not bear False Witness (ie Thou Shalt Not LIE) ... How often have priests denied molesting minors in their care, and how often has the church denied it ever happened??
IV) Remember the Sabbath and Keep It Holy ... The SABBATH was originally SATURDAY, but the CHURCH decided to CHANGE IT TO SUNDAY somewhere around 1000-1200 years ago.
Is it any wonder that I'm a devout AGNOSTIC?? (I'll join the first church that can PROVE to me that God actually exists, and is not just a means for the church to keep the population under it's control!)

All religion just a farce of the one before, taking the bits they want and imposing the latest local government's laws, Christianity just a mock up of the Egyptian religions imposed by the Romans to subjugation the Egyptians to keep the farming going, Egyptians just pinched the pagan sun and moon worship before that, at least back then people knew they were just stories made to try to explain the world, now when we think we understand the world millions of people think there's a guy sitting on a cloud peeking in on us all... makes you laugh really when you think about it but that's people for you, never happy unless we think were stupid and there's something bigger than us, helps to explain away all the rubbish people do to each other if they can blame it on someone who cant answer back.
so true nr.3 but watch ya expect from the top "intelligent" parasites of this planet , nothing less xD

Theirs one sentence I always say to people when they start quoting religious stuff at me.
When I was a child, I thought as a child, acted like a child, but when I became a man I put away childish things.
@crashman_123: I think your on about the 'Council of Neresi' when Emperor Constantine presided over the selection of the books in the bible, because obviously while they were all "inspired by god" there were obviously some more "godly" than others, that's where they set the festivals, most people think that they just nicked the Pagan holidays which is true but in fact "Paganism" was simply any religion outside of the newly formed Christianity, modern Pagans like to think that there's this whole mystical history behind them but in fact modern Paganism is simply a hash up of Greek,Roman, Egyptian and other pre Christian religions...
But I suppose that's the crux of the matter really you can't actually fault religion, it's not religions fault people are bad, that's like saying a abuse victim deserved it because they once smiled at the person that abused them. The Bible or the Koran ect ect may have story's of death and hurt in them but it's human will that enacts them, oh you can blame "God" but like the old saying goes, "If I told you to jump off a bridge... would you?"

Sorry... "Council of Nicea", lose my head if it wasn't screwed on
@HRG: Constantine's 'Sunday Law' (321AD) came into effect FOUR YEARS BEFORE the Council of Nicea (325AD), and was his OWN initiative, but was officially adopted during Council of Nicea II (787AD) into church doctrine when they officially forbade Jews (and Hebrews) from the Church.
'All who continued to practice circumcision, Sabbath observance or other Hebrew rites were to be banned from the Church'
PS. I think that's ENOUGH with the religious discussion ... DON'T YOU?
PPS. Depends if there is a compelling REASON for jumping (ie CERTAIN death if we stay, POSSIBILITY of death if we jump, then I'd jump as a last resort)

"The accusations are that the Missionary Church of Kopimism is farcical." Coming from a member of a religion that is truly farcical in all it´s premises this is a very funny accusation. Do you know that christians used to eat their saracen opponents and their children during the crusades? Sad, but true.
The truth is that people can't handle the truth.
The Catholic Church opposes everything. What's new?
Must be great being a practicing pape......"I wish to confess my sins for the day father"......."confess son" says the priest. "......"your sins are forgiven"...."you are absolved my son"...."now go with God"......come back tomorrow if needs must
