Following MegaUpload shutdown and arrests that took place last week, Filesonic, one of the largest cyberlocker services on the Internet, has removed the features which made the site that popular among file-sharers. This move was done in order to place the service at a safe distance from Hollywood’s revenge. However, some industry observers believe that taking into account what is going on today, nobody can really be sure that such a distance even exists.
The service that used to feature in the list of top 10 file-sharing websites on the web, with 250 million page views monthly placed today a red banner on the main page, saying that all file-sharing functionality on the service is disabled from now on and the site can only be used to upload and download files users have uploaded personally.
Moreover, Filesonic has also terminated its affiliates rewards program, which means that those users who have uploaded files to the service won’t any longer earn money for other visitors downloading their files. However, as the functionality of downloading itself was removed, the program wouldn’t have functioned anyway. Meanwhile, the uploaders are mainly concerned about the reward money they had already collected in their accounts before this shutdown. Users are not sure if they can even still receive that.
After the FBI arrested the founders of famous MegaUpload service and seized its domain name, all websites enabling files uploading and downloading, as well as their users, have been put on guard. However, what the unsuspecting ordinary online user doesn’t realize is that their fundamental rights are currently in danger, too, as they can be tragically limited. The reason for this is a new wicked anti-piracy legislation that hides behind such terms as “digital theft” and “intellectual property protection” is currently awaiting approval.
This is why a lot of the online giants went as far as to arrange a blackout regarding SOPA and PIPA bills in attempt to educate their visitors about the possible consequences of such laws. Today every other service urges everyone to get informed about the proposed legislation, offering detailed information about oncoming Internet filtering, and recommends taking immediate action in cooperation with the rest of the citizens trying to defend their rights and freedom.

This is just the beginning folks...the cyber war is almost upon us. The American government want to take away your last bastion of freedom...the internet. The want to fracture it and control it. It really has nothing to do with piracy. Its about power, and abuse of. This is a dream come true for the fat cats in Hollywood. SOPA and all the other bills are all about removing your rights as an individual and locking down the internet as they have done with an iron fist with the american media machines. What really gets me is, they have no right to impose this crap on another country...demanding that they follow suit or face the consequences. If any of these Bills get through the internet will never be the same again. REMEMBER a a river once started with a trickle..and thats exactly how this is starting...a little here a little there, right under your nose slowly eroding away your rights. BE WARNED WE ARE ALL GOING TO BE AFFECTED. The large scale implications this is massive.

Just need to clear a few things up, firs,t Obama wanted NOTHING to do with the SOPA bill and as such its been pulled till further notice so no SOPA for now but PIPA is still about and don't think that SOPA and PIPA are the only ones out there, the world is trying to stop piracy not just the US, we have ACTA in Europe. So anyway we look at it we're screwed but Obama has nothing to with FS MF and all the rest going down blame Hollywood for making crap movies then not getting the money they want so take it out on us, no fair but that's life
Obama actually WAS for SOPA/PIPA. He quietly sat on the sidelines until he could gauge public opinions and prepare his political maneuvering. This is verified by Bill Mar and even Nightline, who just had a special on this issue the other day. If the bills were to be voted on and pass, he has said he would likely support them in their current form. This is a documented quote and not conjecture. Obama was only pressured into his decision because it's an election year folks and he needs public opinion!

The young of this generation - such feelings of entitlement! File sharing used to be truly underground and it took brains. Now anyone with a 70 IQ and the Internet can steal whatever digital product they like. Add that to the fact there is so much misinformation on the Internet these days most of your minds are filled with garbage. You can't figure out right from wrong or who your oppressors truly are.
Of course it has gone too extreme right now and piracy will be clamped down on. It doesn't matter. If you are smart enough you will still know where to find the underground and you can still find what you like. It's just too damn easy right now and the world will adjust itself back to the middle. Making movies and games costs millions of USD just in worker salaries and someone has to pay for it or it can't exist.
They take out millions of legitimate files by millions of legitimate MegaUpload users, to take down some pirate files that continue to be freely available elsewhere. Justice. Liberty and Human Decency seems to be dead in the water in 2012... All because the FBI put on Jack Boots. I thought two world wars had killed this sort of conduct stone dead, or are the FBI secretly planning to bring back gas chambers?
Take away freedoms and before you know it we will have full-scale censorship of the internet. Once the mechanisms are in place, who knows how they will be used in the future. We must protect our internet freedom at all costs. If the FBI and American authorities declare ware on parts of the internet, every free citizen in the Us and around the world must act to defend our freedom and freedom of speech. It's a short walk from censorship to denying any active free speech.
We are talking mind police here, who don't like us even expressing our own thoughts, let alone having freedom of action on the internet. The politicians say one thing when behind the scenes they are trying to dictate almost every aspect of our lives and brainwash us stupid.
The major elections are soon coming and remember that and who the POS corrupt politicians are; vote them out.
If you don't vote you get what you deserve.

thats just sad.. I just started to use torrents
|Who the H*** is Seksor, some media company executive? Raptor5 has got it right, it's our freedoms that are being eroded, and big US doesn't want us to have any freedom at all. they say they vote for democracy but in truth democracy is the last thing on their mind. Making as much money as possible, and setting up power, control and privilege for the wealthy is their agenda. It's called American Capitalism. If a free internet is seen as being against the big American C, they'll fight it with any means available, just wait and see! Before long they'll be locking us up for thinking considerately on and for the masses of ordinary folks!||
