The United States might have to switch off around 3 million of PCs all over the world that are infected with the DNSChanger trojan. That is, unless the court gives it an extension.
The government of the United States doesn’t actually want to do so, and decided to approach the courts to allow it to manage servers able to be connected to the DNSChanger Trojan. Nevertheless, if a court refuses, the services may go dark and the uses of the affected computers may lose their broadband connections.
6 individuals accused of operating and profiting from the botnet are likely to be extradited from their native country (Estonia) to face charges in the US. The DNSChanger trojan can modify settings on a host computer which tells the PC how to find online services on the web. The malware hijacks users’ search results and prevents them from visiting security websites that could help detect and delete the infections.
A New York district court ordered a private American firm to assume control over these servers. The plan was that Internet service providers and organizations would have time to identify and clean infected computers.
According to security experts, the surrogate control servers will operate until the 8th of March, but the cleanup process is expected to take much longer than expected. Over 3 million systems across the globe, including 500,000 in America, are still infected with the trojan. That’s why the US Attorney for the Southern District of New York, and NASA, is asking the judge to extend the deadline by over 4 months to provide broadband providers, private companies and the authorities with more time to clean up the mess. However, there are people believing that extending the deadline isn’t a good idea, because nothing will focus the people’s minds on cleaning up their PCs as well as a computer that doesn’t work.

Here we go again. Ill-informeded boofheads making stupid statements. Same thing about the film for the boofheads, but this one was called "Dumb & Dumber." The sequel's called, "Clueless."
Six Estonians created this mess and somehow America's to blame?
I'm so tired of comments like #1...
Well, I guess it hasn't reached EVERYONE yet that AMERICA DOES OWN THE MAJORITY OF THE INTERNET...Just cause a company buys a website, doesn't mean anything...THE DNS ADDRESS OF THAT SITE IS PROBABLY STILL OWNED BY AMERICAN INTEREST..(Oh, and as far I can recall, I reckon we started the whole WWW thing anyways)CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG..Anyways, Quit hating on us when we are gonna have to fix this deal created by sum punks in some third world country...Say "we police the world",I can somewhat agree, but you can't have the best of both. If you want us to butt out of your business, QUIT ASKING FOR OUR HELP WITH EVERY ONE OF YOUR PROBLEMS...We'd be better off if we kept all of our money and aid here and helped ourselves instead...

loloolololllllooool @ 3
everything about your post is stereotypical, even your avatar.
and you wonder why haters be haters...
People should learn to keep their PCs clean. It's not that hard.
@3 you need to be corrected the internet was invented by a brit named Sir Timothy John "Tim" Berners-Lee he is also the director of the World Wide Web Consortium and as for who owns the internet that has got to be the hardest question of all to answer as it is global If you think of the Internet as a unified, single entity, then no one owns it. There are organizations that determine the Internet's structure and how it works, but they don't have any ownership over the Internet itself. No government can lay claim to owning the Internet, nor can any company. The Internet is like the telephone system -- no one owns the whole thing.Im not blaming no one for nothing if we all had our facts a little clearer not so many fingers would be pointed

@ InkSlinger666. On you're 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th point you're wrong. As a matter of interest which countries peoples have actually asked for the American military intervention? None. All they want is your money. If America and Obama had any sense they'd insist the the Arabs got together to sort it out. The West pays to settle the Middle Eastern sabre rattling which it can ill afford. If the USA got it's shit together and used it's cyber technology to fix the Iran problem etc, it could save enough money to pay the Hollywood lawyers ten fold, with interest.
#6 is right if you got a couple braincells left up there then you wouldnt have any problems
roflmao at #3 as an american im gona say this once, "united" states of america aka US is THE largest terrorist organization on this planet and its not even theyre country to begin with they stole it as they do with everything they put theyre interest on, and ask for theyre help? please dont make me laugh, id love to know WHO asked for theyre help EVER , im sure em kids killed over in iraq or vietnam asked for help, im sure they didnt want theyre oil , yeah right! , let me say it once more NOBODY wants anything to do with the US they should take care of theyre own shit and economy cause it dont look all too good tbh, lmfao
p.s: fyi obama is nothing but the banks puppet as any other government figure is, he has no say so dont get any wrong ideas, governments are only here to control people thats all its an oppression , shouldnt be but if you open your eyes you can see it clearly , my 2 cents

First off, I'm an American. Second, to number "10s" comments, I would love to leave people like yourself to your own devices, however it would affect all the good people that live near you. If it weren't for America covering your butts during WW2 Hitler would have cleaned you out of the gene pool a long time ago. Europe has proven time and time again that it can't take care of itself and on that note has almost destroyed the world several times over. Oh, and as far as the economy is concerned, yes we are in a recession but the great Euro idea is a whole lot worse. If you need a hand maybe we will bail you out with that as well.
Now for number "7" the internet was developed in America by Americans. I started in UCLA for the government. Look it up on the internet.
O.m.g I can’t believe what I just read America invented the web ,you are so wrong ,but you will never admit it and it’s not just the web you wouldn’t have made it to the moon if you had not got hold of the best German rocket engineers after the last world war but no doubt we are wrong about that as well. As I always say three things that go together well in this world are devastation ,oil and Americans , as for policing the world you and your countryman and Mr Cameron (uk prime minister ) should be ashamed of yourself just because there is no oil or gold in Syria you couldn’t give a dam about the people being killed there and if you look at plastic faced Hillary Clinton or brain removed Obama lama it’s not hard to see why .and tell me this why did it take George bush so long to find Osama binn lining when he ran a construction business with his dad and had regular meetings and social events planned with him over the years of the hunt the trouble is my friend like all your lot you are conditioned from birth to think the rest of the world is inferior to you and they need you so bad ,truth is we don’t give a dam about you but you keep interfering in our business how can you be respected when your dollar is really worth only 4cents as an American commentator said on TV this weekend and don’t forget if Mr china decided to phone up and ask for his money back you would all find yourselves citizens of that fair country as the amount you owe them would bankrupt your country
If you are so great and wonderful why do you live in cockroach infested cities have the highest crime rate in the world have cues 4 blocks long for free medical attention let children die of starvation in your wonderful country .I could go on but I think you get the message ,o and one last thing I would love you to stand next to a true brit and say you won world war 2 you are so wrong !!!!!
lols at 11 xD, too bad i dont live in europe so i wouldnt know if the euro is worse than our recession but who knows , and we might have "helped" out germans in WW2 by tossing them some hershy bars xD
thou not an excuse for us putting our nose in other peoples buisness dont you think? and instead of trying to "help" people for ulterior motives we should indeed help our "own" country
p.s: 12 is right btw 11, he seems to think outside the box like me , unlike others here, btw 12 one fact you forgot is that bin laden never was a terrorist to begin with he actually worked for the cia in the past but national security needed a reason to exist so they took the next best target and since bin laden didnt wanna sell his oil fields , well the rest is history , needless to say hes been declared an terrorist and , the government made twin towers happen , yeah the US government not some terrorists lmfao , but thats another chapter for itself if you know how to use the webs youll find the truth
@ # 10, claiming to be american but then refering to americans as "they"...? does not make you sound american. if you don't like the country as it sounds like you don't maybe you should leave...? Cool topic (i am not american) lol

Skunkmasta: He didn't invent the Internet, he invented the world wide web, 2 different things. The internet and the workings of the internet had been around for almost 30 years by the time the World Wide Web came into existence.
As far as the guy being American up there ranting about if it wasn't for America blah blah blah, you need to learn your history. The only reason we even entered WWI was for personal financial gain, not to help save people from anything. And because of the wonderful lies caused by Woodrow Wilson involving the Peace Treaties (The Treaty of Versailles of you aren't aware of it) between the original agreements to peace versus when it was actually signed, we aided in the Germans being extremely pissed off at us and possibly even helped in them wanting to start WWII.
BTW, the Nazis based a lot of their eugenics laws/thoughts off of AMERICAN laws and standards, so your comment about them being wiped out if we hadn't "stepped in to save the day" (paraphrasing) is invalid, as we had eugenics laws before they did, so, once again, that one's on us as well. Would be nice if in school they taught, you know, history instead of their version of history.
my balls itch
i got warning for saying "phucktard" but i out smarted the system and spelled it differently and got to say it anyways
lols @#17 xD
+1 for #15 , @#14 maybe i will dont think i havent been considering it on several occasions , theres much better places to be
Wow, such confusion... and such dismay over who invented the internet and the world wide web... I found this article to be very interesting and educational. I'm sure that a lot of people will be very surprised at how wrong their ideas were.
it didn't post the addy ... its computerhopeDOTcom who invented the internet.
As to the point of who invented the World Wide Web, here it is:
In 1980, Tim Berners-Lee, an independent contractor at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), Switzerland, built ENQUIRE, as a personal database of people and software models, but also as a way to play with hypertext; each new page of information in ENQUIRE had to be linked to an existing page.
In 1984 Berners-Lee returned to CERN, and considered its problems of information presentation: physicists from around the world needed to share data, and with no common machines and no common presentation software. He wrote a proposal in March 1989 for "a large hypertext database with typed links", but it generated little interest. His boss, Mike Sendall, encouraged Berners-Lee to begin implementing his system on a newly acquired NeXT workstation. He considered several names, including Information Mesh, The Information Mine (turned down as it abbreviates to TIM, the WWW's creator's name) or Mine of Information (turned down because it abbreviates to MOI which is "Me" in French), but settled on World Wide Web.
Robert Cailliau, Jean-François Abramatic and Tim Berners-Lee at the 10th anniversary of the WWW Consortium.
He found an enthusiastic collaborator in Robert Cailliau, who rewrote the proposal (published on November 12, 1990) and sought resources within CERN. Berners-Lee and Cailliau pitched their ideas to the European Conference on Hypertext Technology in September 1990, but found no vendors who could appreciate their vision of marrying hypertext with the Internet.
By Christmas 1990, Berners-Lee had built all the tools necessary for a working Web: the HyperText Transfer Protocol (HTTP) 0.9, the HyperText Markup Language (HTML), the first Web browser (named WorldWideWeb, which was also a Web editor), the first HTTP server software (later known as CERN httpd), the first web server ( and the first Web pages that described the project itself. The browser could access Usenet newsgroups and FTP files as well.

Whoaa hold on a sec.. #21
"Tim Berners-Lee" Maybe collaborated features on top of what we know as Internet as software design he made it more WYSIWYG .IMHO. on top of the existing networking protocols.
So... here is some Wiki but not limited too.
9 Dec 1968 USA Douglas Engelbart demonstrates interactive computing,at the Fall Joint Computer Conference in San Francisco: mouse, on-screen windows, ----> "HYPERTEXT" and full-screen word processing.
1969 USA-- ARPANET begun by the United States Department of Defense for research into networking.
It is the original basis for what now forms the Internet. It was opened to non-military users
Later in the 1970s and many universities and large businesses went on-line.
7 Apr 1969 USA The first Request for Comments, RFC 1 published. The RFCs (network working group, Request For Comment) are a series of papers which are used to develop and define protocols for networking; originally the basis for ARPANET, there are now thousands of them applying to all aspects of the Internet. Collectively they document everything about the way the Internet and computers on it should behave, whether its TCP/IP networking or how email headers should be written there will be a set of RFCs describing it.
I like to thank all World Rocket Scientists from all country's helped.. so we can blab back and forth..
