2,165 anonymous downloaders have been targeted by Hollywood for allegedly downloading “Conan the Barbarian”.
In The lawsuit was started after a complaint filed last week to Maryland’s federal court. The film company is represented by Thomas Dunlap of the Dunlap, Grubb and Weaver, a law company specializing on copyright cases. Dunlap’s company has broad experience with suing thousands of people, because in the past they have brought to justice thousands of Does in the famous “The Expendables” case. The company also represented small movie studios, including producers of the Award-winning “The Hurt Locker”.such cases three steps are usually taken. First, the plaintiffs file a complaint against the suspected pirates, which is then followed by a motion to subpoena Internet service providers to reveal the identities of the anonymous downloaders. Finally, they send letters to the defendants trying to convince them to settle for a certain amount of money or face the court of law.
Meanwhile, this is not the only news from Hollywood. At the same time, Justin Bieber has filed a cease-and-desist letter to the developers of an Android application called “Joustin Beaver”. Bieber’s attorneys say that the game represents a “blatant violation” of the artist’s publicity rights and trademarks. The lawyers are demanding the game to be out of the Android Market, while asking the creators for a detailed accounting of sales.
Finally, there is more news about Hollywood blockbusters. Avatar was recognized as one of the most popular films ever, created by James Cameron. But there were a number of attempts to sue James Cameron for allegedly “stealing” ideas and “pasting” them to Avatar. The same was said about “Titanic”.

they probably just making up ip addresses to sue. it will never hold out and conan was releases like half a year now. whats the proof that the individual even did download the film
That same cocksucker (Thomas Dunlap) had his cases thrown out for The Hurt Locker and The Expendables. All 20-20k were cancelled. Does this moron think he will have any better luck this time? People are becoming wise to his bullshit and not falling for his extortion attempts. Stupid is what stupid does.
That's the big stumbling block the studios face. They've got UNTIL the release of the DVD to find and prosecute any suspected pirates, because AFTER the DVD release any person could say thy never pirated, they ripped the file from a hired DVD for personal use. Unless the studios make the DVD movie slightly different from the Cinema release, how are they going to be able to tell the difference?
I myself don't make copies of DVDs anymore, I instead rip any movies I hire to DivX Avi format then burn them to either DVD or Blu-Ray when my hard drive nears capacity. This means that along with the 1000+ DVDs I own, I also have another 1500-2000 files from hired movies & TV Series sitting on Hard drives and Blu-Ray discs at home, but I've not pirated ANY of them (not the ones I've got NOW anyway, I replaced them with a DVD rip version ASAP.)

It's pretty hard to bring a lawsuit to an individual unless they admit it. They've try this method several times in the past and it never works. Anyone can get their IP address spoofing and forged. Plus, who says you can make a backup copy.

So this prik is at it again and the last time all the cases were thrown out.
The thing that I can't wrap my head around is how they claim they lost billions of dollars in DOWNLOADS. So they sue some one who allegedly DOWNLOADED a file? Correct?
So that person is liable for hundreds or millions of dollars in damages?
Another is they are not being sued for Uploading A FILE BUT again downloading A file?
Am I the only one to see this?
This movie Expedacrap is currently available on NetFlix and I pay them 8.00 per month.
So I would figure the current RETAIL VALUE of this Expendacrap movie would be fairly put at ONE PENNY cost to me..
Example I get sued and dragged into court and have to sit there and listen to the BS spewed by the MPAA - how I cost them thousands of AMERICAN JOBS ( doesn't count they film their crap in another country ); took food out of their children's mouths, blah blah blah....
Then my turn I would inform the court I tried to settle with the MPAA before trial by paying the fair market value of this Expendacrap movie alleged I DOWNLOADED NOT UPLOADED. I would then hold up the movie still in its shrink wrap and show a receipt that I purchased the exact same Expendacrap movie from Walwrt's bargain bin for 4.00 and show the receipt to the court and MPAA.. I would then motion for summary dismissal with prejudice and another summary judgement to me in my counter suit again this prik and MPAA.
According to data from YouHaveDownloaded.com, a range of downloads have been actioned from the Palace including a cam copy of Tower Heist, a telesync copy of Arthur Christmas, and music from The Beach Boys. The latter was actually a lossless FLAC rip, but as one might expect, only the best quality will do for the Palace. So who should I sue for this? lol.

Give em a break, how else are they going to make some money back on such a SH*T movie.
Please EVERYONE whether you like the film Conan the Barbarian or not DOWNLOAD this movie to show Hollywood up as the pile of S**T and SHEEP-DUNG that they really are!
If they take action against any more film downloaders, download these films too. They'll soon get the message!
I have rubbed elbows with people deep in the industry, and the truth is that most execs agree that the only end way is do it free and make money off of ads, promotions, games, etc. In fact most of their stats show that it is even more profitable! Then you have declining Hollywood industry who is trying to keep the mega profits over costs high, so they fire most competent veterans and hire new youth willing to work for peanuts. The whole of Universal, Warner, Disney, etc. is so disconnected and inefficient that in the end it decisions in production come down to 'just get it done however you can--- translating into shit products.' Most artists, directors, producers, all agree that these lawsuits are ridiculous and not something they agree with. Many of these people torrent themselves and their kids most definitely do.
So who is left that is so stuck and why? Lawyers who have trained in nothing but this that are terrified of not having income and salivating at the huge possibilities of what if this breaks open with ACTA, SOPA, etc. Then you have the real instinkgators: The few elitists who control the messages for their political hegemony plans and the military complex who need to keep their massive budgets from deflating like a stuck pig.
They will continue their insane direction, until they really cross the line in such a big way that the whole of the peoples will have no choice but to completely take a stand and shut all this nonsense down. Also, movies which are made independently or other videos are quickly becoming more entertaining while the lost boys of the old school will make worse movies.
Piracy is actually our civic duty, because in the end, once all data is free, then all of the worlds problems can be fixed through unreleased tech and sharing ideas. Most importantly, this is when humanity in general will begin to finally be happy again with life on Earth.
In the meantime, mock these morons, embarrass them, scam them, pester, annoy, dig up dirt, turn their children against them, toilet paper their house, youtube their identity with provocative animation... anything to crack open their lead encrusted worm of a soul.
