After being blocked by a few countries, possibly blacklisted in the near future by the United Kingdom, and expecting a raid to bust their headquarters, the world’s largest BitTorrent tracker The Pirate Bay is now also censored by Windows Live Messenger (MSN). The excuse for blacklisting is that the link is “unsafe”.
If you try to send a link to The Pirate Bay via Microsoft’s MSN, you will see the message saying “the link you tried to send was blocked because it was reported as unsafe”. Although the site may have malware here and there, it will be a gross exaggeration to call the whole site “unsafe”. However, the industry experts don’t think it will be exaggerated at all to call this move as dictated from “above”.
Some of the industry observers suggest that this may be a glitch which will be soon fixed by Microsoft’s team of developers. At the same time they also consider the fact that the software giant is currently supporting the Recording Industry Association of America and Motion Picture Association of America by introducing censorship filters into their software. For example, if you are using Internet Explorer and want to visit some “notorious” website, you won’t be allowed to do so, because it’s “unsafe” again. However, you have alternatives like Firefox, Opera, Safari, Chrome, and others, which is actually a scary thought nevertheless, particularly if you take into account that Microsoft is the head of the Business Software Alliance.
By the way, speaking of scary thoughts – it will most likely get worse if Internet service providers start to police their users by July 2012…

whole point is, as soon as places like the pirate bay are completely censored. Next is places like Wikipedia, Because they provide FREE information to help individuals...
Then what will be left of the internet, SHOPPING AND MARKETING... it will be a Newspaper as the Media WANTS.

"MSN BLACKLISTED BY SMART PEOPLE"
it also happens when sending a P bay link with trillian.
the secret is to paste the link then remove http from the beggining of the link before sending,
then the recipient has to copy it into the url bar and re-add http.
obviously the recipient needs to know to do it first hahah!
where there's a will there's a way.
WWWAAAAAA MSN BLACKLISTED TPB? LMFAO..
I never use their service and the faster they try and block something a way around it is figured out if not in hours but days.
As for the filtering enter the site IP and not the URL you get there..
why not to.ly the link or bit.ly or tinyurl
The police state cometh what's next The Minority Report... You may laugh... but!

use bluebox, add on for firefox to get around blocked sites.
Just had an Idea, now broadband is getting faster... upto 100Mb hahahaha! lets have shared BB, knock on ya neighbours door if they have BT infinity or Virgin BB and ask them to share the line, this saves you both forking out too much cash and you maximise your usage of a service plus you get to know ya neighbour arh! aint that sweet. If you feel you've made a brother with a different mother you can do file swaps lol!
I'm cancelling sky and getting Netflix its pretty cool, just set it up for a mate and only trouble was audio, had to change the bitrate and boom good quality movies, you need a good line though so you can set up the best quality stream else quality is pants. The customer services are on happy drugs lol!

Im really getting sick of this sh*t now. Its gonna end being able to get anything a thing of the past. One by one all my fav sites will be closed or blocked. Whats the point of rolling out 100mb speeds and the like if you cant dl diddly squat?
ole guy told me he tried to get onto his email when file sharing; blocked untill had stopped it all for 1 hour; so seems true,
Without trying to be overly negative, I suspect that the greater speeds and bandwidth capacity is to accommodate all the friggin in-page videos, ads and audio that just seems to be growing on pages as time goes forward.
I'm in love with Opera's "Opera Turbo" feature, which loads pages with static images (although you can also disable that as well) without loading all the videos, adverts as well as animated images (if you configure it that way).
Then, if you want to check out a video, you click on it and it loads only when you want. Saves a tonne of load time, bandwidth as well as your heart when a video starts to load and it blasts the volume (when you have it connected to your stereo as I do).
Soon, we may have VPN's as a standard feature, and if that is somehow inadequate, will have to revert back to dial-up BBS-types of interfaces, though someone will figure out a speedier version I'd think.
As menahunie says, every time a company invests time, energy and money into some security feature or software, there is always some brilliant 14-year-old kid somewhere just drooling to crack it and find a work-around.
Necessity and Mother of Innovation and all that. The future is still bright, just more complicated.
There's always a light to look forward to!
lol WHo cares about MSN i know i dont

Yeah because none us will find away around this and obviously none can type on seperate lines to break the link thus stopping the censoring
do they really think that everyone in the world only has one brain cell
@xxxskfxxx & catalinamole : I would definitely cancel my internet with my current provider because I have options.....
Crapcast cable would go out the door if I was throttled or shut down for any period of time. I would go straight to ATT and call com cast and tell them they lost a customer for life. If they started getting enough people doing that, they would deff.. start thinking about what they are doing at least. Granted, it would take thousands if not more customers doing that to impact them, but just you wait....In a couple years it just may turn around.
OpenMinder - true about the speed; all that crap that comes with web sites. Now you know why your hitting your data cap.
I just setup and block that crap like here on ET the stupid wizard junk that pops open ALL THE FRIGGIN TIME..
Another point on speed mine is running a true 50mbps down so anyone in that speed range can easy hit and run on a file.. 1 gig downloaded in minutes..
|I get my internet from Cox Cable in Kansas and in the last 6 weeks i have gotten 3 notices of copyright infringement!!!||
