Everybody is already watching such brilliant rise of BitTorrent and also must be watching the killing and assassination of the same by the legal actions of anti-piracy groups. The same happened in 2009 with top three BitTorrent sites. Let me get you deep down under it.
In 2001, after the fall of Napster, the file-sharing world still continued rising heavenly and soon services such as Kazaa, eD2K and BitTorrent became the most especial stuff in the internet world in a short period of time that grasped whole lot of strength that’s still proving itself a difficult thing to stop.
The Pirate Bay, Mininova and isoHunt that shared their billions of torrents to millions of BitTorrent users became the top and the most auspicious BitTorrent sites.
Just Because of same excitement and interest that kept on increasing day by day effected the movie and music industries real hard and in result they turned their ways along with plans to crush the BitTorrent sites and they even accomplished their plans which at last turned 2009 as the awful year for all three of them.
The Pirate Bay
The movie and music industries kept on blaming and continued tormenting the site and finally on April 17th 2009, four members of The Pirate Bay who were in defending the site found guilty.
According to the court, the violation of copyright rules was severe and the first violation was committed by the users itself who shared the copyrighted files and even the four defendants who were found guilty were well known about the sharing of copyrighted material is happening on The Pirate Bay that was made easier by them for the users. The four used mentioned that there was lack of the a ‘notice and take-down’ but it didn’t helped them that much in defending. One year of prison and fines of $905,000 were charged to each of the three.
The site is not yet closed by the crushers and forbidden the founder from operating it and the site is still alive and still can be operated.
Mininova, the BitTorrent giant, suffered the same brutal way as The Pirate Bay, after operating for almost five full years. An Anti Piracy outfit BRIEN dragged Mininova in The Dutch court and left with little choice and ordered to delete millions of torrent files from it and even shut down the major parts of it. The owner of the site accepted the order and deleted all the torrents uploaded by the regular users including the ones which were not violating any copyrights.
Another BitTorrent site, isoHunt was claimed of including in violation of copyrighted material. The complaint was lodged by several Hollywood studios in 2006. isoHunt was found guilty in including with violation of copyrights acc. to a US federal court in California on December 21st 2009. The court stated that, “purposeful, culpable expression and conduct, aimed at promoting infringing uses of the websites.”
Just like The Pirate Bay, not much damage was done to isoHunt and no shut down process held for it because of which it is still operational, pending an appeal.
We never know how big this closure actions would grow but one thing has always been assured that Extra Torrent “The Biggest BitTorrent System” , is going nowhere and cause no rules were, are and would ever be violated by us and we never host copyrighted material. Extra Torrentis a place to be and always will.

Very informative! I wonder what other civil rights, companies like "BRIEN" will try and squash next? Sharing information on the internet is my pursuit of happiness. Closing down bittorrent sites diminishes that capability and ultimately limits my freedom of choice. I wonder what these 'entertainment' moguls will throw their money at next. I have a large family and thru inflation and crappy job aspects, the bittorrent world is my release. My ability to get information for my family for entertainment is the least I can do. Don't these people see that they're not killing a bittorrent site, they're killing our fun... entertainment... and our freedom of choice/pursuit of happiness. We need to come up with something that these movie/music pimps can't touch!

Its such a pain to watch good people who do nothing but exchange information being hounded like this.. do you think googles getting threats to shut down because there directing people to information on how to make a bomb out of toothpaste! no thats ok because lawyers don't care if they cant get paid, it's normal people who are sick of the paying through the nose for films that cost 30mil because the star is asking for 10, what these film company's should ask themselves is why they are spending so much money for someone to do what there told in front of a camera, a porn star probably does more work than these people and takes more risks, lets pay them 1 mil a video, that would be fun, at least then we would get decent quality celebrity pornos not just slags like Hilton running around with a video camera :)
nice read guys ty steffi:)x

so the copyrighted material was not hosted by mininova either ET is also the having head under Knife no one can assure its existence in the format it is today
Well technically ET doesn't host any files so "technically" these bad ppls and their organizations should leave ET alone, let ET get on with what its doing for the community.
ET is thee place to be, its there for you and me and above all its all FREE - F&%K me! :))

I'm going to get flamed for this but oh well my point is valid. Isohunt was found guilty in a California court...correct. Isohunt isn't based in the US though. They do not host any material, they are an indexing site just like ET. The reason they were prosecuted is because of their size and as ET grows they will most likely become a victim of prosecution. I just hope that the founders of ET will fight in court the same way that Gary Fung fought for Isohunt. I am a member of both sites and I have positive feelings about any p2p site that is laid out nicely and has good members like both ET and Isohunt does. The lawsuit that Isohunt is more concerned with is in Canada and it is still ongoing. Let's just hope some judge isn't biased like the one in CA and they realize that their should be some limits. If Beethoven, Bach or Van Gogh had copyrights to their artform very few of us would have actually ever enjoyed them. Long live the p2p world as a whole.

You know I saw a copy of Avatar from the internet. It wasn't all that good of a copy and it wasn't in 3D, but I went to see it.P2P is good advertising or promo. The movie cost $25.00 for 2 people? Which probably cost more in bigger cities, but my point is if I hadn't seen the download I probably wouldn't have spent $25.00 to see the movie. It was very good, Cameron has really taken it to the limits. And if I spent $25.00 to see a movie that I ended up hating, I'd be pissed. It goes both ways, yes it may hurt some , but others profit from it. The moral of the story is, if it's good, artistic and genuine it will sell.Long live file sharing it's our god given right.

I really would love to see how a great protocol like Kazaa would run if designed to take advantage of todays internet standards. I bet it would be amazing! Some day we may go back to this format as the internet police monitor us more and more over the years. Right now they rest in the shadows picking off a site here and a site there, pinpointing the people behind the big sites and the people who upload the illegal content. The downside of BT is that it makes it VERY easy to find who is actually responsible for sharing the hottest files on each site. Some people know how to throw up enough blocks to make it difficult to follow the trail but everything a person does on the internet protocol leaves a trail of evidence and more and more ISP's and websites keep records of everything we do.
I think the movie industry has pretty much embraced the P2P community but they throw a public fit from time to time, just enough to keep everyone in the world from saying bollocks to buying movies but not enough to stop people from getting their movies free publicity. Its a delecate balancing act and I am on to the movie industry!!! They do not fool me! They could track everyone down if they really wanted to do so with no problem at all.
I am sure ET it safe for many years to come. Every site has its time and they all come and go for one reason or another. I hope the people will support ET for many years to come and I love this site more than any other! Hail to the KING...EXTRA TORRENT!!!!!
Sorry to double post but I just read hrg's post. He says "do you think googles getting threats to shut down because there directing people to information on how to make a bomb out of toothpaste! no thats ok because lawyers don't care if they cant get paid, it's normal people who are sick of the paying through the nose for films that cost 30mil because the star is asking for 10"
Actually Google is starting to get sued to stop some practices like providing links to copyrighted Ebooks! You may just get what you wish for if people keep saying things like Google should be sued for providing links. The big difference between a BT site and Google is that Google only provided the address for websites. Sites Like ISOHunt provide the address of people who share copyrighted content from their computers. SO far the government has mainly went after the websites for hosting the addresses and not the people hosting the files themselves, although a few people have been sued into the dirt.
Its important to be open and honest about the risks involved. There are risks that comes with filesharing and NO PERSON is immune. Just to be honest
I feel [ and hope ] that one day the movie industry will realize that filesharing can be a very positive tool if used properly. I have many ideas that would revolutionize the way media is sold and shared. There are ways to make profits and make the share holders of the films happy and I do feel the makers of films deserve to be paid for their work and efforts...But I STRONGLY feel the money is going in the wrong direction at this time.
The movie studios need to be cut out because they are truly the "MIDDLEMAN" but somehow they take in the most profits! Actually it because they take the most risk with the MONEY!!! Its high time to cut out the middle men and pay the creative WRITERS their fair share, give talented fresh faced actors their shot in new films and stop the few select, HIGHLY PAID actors from hogging all the good roles.
One problem is that the Big studios can afford to buy up all the good scripts out there and can offer the writer more money than any individual film maker ever could. They o snatch up every good script they can find and often they do not even plan to make the films. They simply do not want the other studios to have them!! I am dead serious. This happens all the time. The writers get screwed but they need the money to keep on writing. Sometimes one of the studios actors read one of these scripts and loves it enough to get the studio to make it for them to star in. Its a sick practice IMO.
Hopefully soon the movement will start, perhaps it has already, where independent filmmakers will be able to deliver movies that can compare with he big budget popcorn movies of the summer. More and more young people are able to provide CGI visuals at cut rate prices and these days movie quality camera's are so much cheaper than they were even 10 years ago when cams started off at least $20,000 and up. Thats not even figuring in all the other equipment one would need. It was VERY expensive.
Now with the internet its easy for people to publicize their products too! Youtube can provide free commercials for an independent film. The word of mouth on the internet can spread like wildfire.
Now e have:
1) Cheap Camera's
2) Actors who are willing to work for FAR less than TOME CRUISE and can act better too!
3) Skilled workers who are able to provide stunning CGI special effects at cut rate prices compared to what Union based movie workers would charge.
4)No unions to enforce over priced rules and regulations that send the budget to the moon!
5) Many young writers, actors, artists and people who are willing to work hard to get their dreams on film
6) VERY cheap [FREE!!!] publicity by utilizing popular internet sites to run ad's and commercials for these movies!
I am sure there are more points I have not thought of but even with these 6 key points you can see that it would be easy to replace the current MIDDLE MEN who take advantage of an entire industry!!!
The BIG problem I see will be getting the movie theaters to play the films but I also think there is a solution to this as well. Concentrate on CHEAP DVD sales. There is plenty of movie to be gained from the DVD market and in fact many films make up their profits in this market. Kevin Smith movies never really do well in the theaters but his DVD sales are phenomenal and always make back the cost of this films plus a whole lot more.
Perhaps Extratorrent should start their own movie making section. Just think, it would be brilliant! I have a Zombie based Western that is just begging to be made and it would be very cheap to make!!! The movie industry should be very scared. Some day soon their firm grip on the necks of the talented people of the world may be a thing of the past and I think they know it! Perhaps thats why so many cool 3D films are being made. They will have to come up with more complicated technology that the average person will not be able to afford if they wish to keep that hard grip. We shall see.
Now, lets make that Extratorrent movie!!!!!
