German ministers are being picked apart by some anonymous site that provided evidence about country’s government plagiarizing their scientific works.
Now the German Education and Research Minister Annette Schavan is being targeted by the Schavanplag website that claims she plagiarized PhD dissertation published back in 1980.
According to the website, Annette Schavan had copied phrasing from improperly cited sources. Schavan’s dissertation was titled “Person and conscience – studies on conditions, need and requirements of today’s consciences”. By the way, the paper became a best seller at the University of Düsseldorf.
Annette Schavan appeared at a press conference to discuss her ministry’s proposal for a new legislation that could provide local science organizations more freedom over their budgets. Surprisingly enough, she instead found the local media less interested in budgets but more excited about giving her a Chinese burn about the blog.
Schavan claimed that it all happened a long time ago and you “have to just let things go”. Although her exact quote was that the scientific work was written 32 years ago, and that she would be happy to grant her account to those who were looking into the dissertation, it appeared difficult to deal with anonymous allegations.
Meanwhile, this case is just another one in a string of similar accusations against German politicians. Last year, Defence Minister Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg had to resign after some blogger turned up evidence of extensive plagiarism in his dissertation as well. As a result, the University of Bayreuth evoked his Ph.D. title, and since then 6 other German politicians also have had their Ph.D.s revoked due to similar offences.

|Mentioned this before, but just to remind everyone. The music and film moguls know they haven't a cat in hell's chance of doing anything about piracy (And I would suggest EVERYONE in the UK changes over to Non-UK DNS servers, so the courts have no jurisdiction whatsoever over your browsing!) but they don't like TPB hosting a lot of material by unsigned bands, hence their action. Just like the FBI ripping into MegaUpload, because the 'ultra-richie's took fright over Mega's intended new media business model that would cut out the likes of the music and film companies.|
Bigger fish to fry in the UK, as the Government want to store one year's worth (so they say . . . their storage capacity at GCHQ Cheltenham can easily store SEVEN year's worth of this data) of ALL UK EMAILS, ALL UK LAND AND MOBILE PHONE CALLS and EVERYONE's ENTIRE WEB BROWSING HISTORY (They'll have one heck of a job with the web browsing and P2P if (AND WE MUST!) ALL USE NON-UK DNS SERVERS FROM NOW ON.
THEY SAY they won't be looking at content, don't believe a word of it. Once they have access, all hell break's loose on everyone's privacy. The Police will use it more routinely than phoning or writing to mother, and all opposition MPs will be at risk of being busted or blackmailed over anything.
WE NEED PEOPLE OUT ON THE STREETS,DEMONSTRATING PEACEFULLY BUT BLOCKING OFF ACCESS TO GCHQ at Cheltenham, No 10 AND Parliament if need be.
It's time for EVERYONE AS IN EVERYONE, ALL OF US IN OUR MILLIONS TO STAND UP AND BE COUNTED and defeat the BIGGEST THREAT to Civil Liberty, Human Rights, Right to Privacy and Right to a Private Life in the free world, without ALL electronic communication being monitored all of the time.
ONLY IRAN AND CHINA have anything similar in place. They won't catch a single terrorist, paedophile/paedophile group or anyone out for serious crime or harm to others, as they'll ALL go underground on changed DNS servers, anonymous proxies, VPN AND they'll totally encrypt all their communications. BUT WE WILL ALL HAVE LOST OUR ENTIRE PRIVACY ENTIRELY FOR NOTHING.
STOP THIS NOW!
