A Russian-based organization “Pirate Pay” has come up with some software that is claimed to be able to kill off the distribution of copyrighted content on peer-to-peer networks. In fact, their first test project, the one that was carried out in cooperation with Walt Disney Studios and Sony Pictures, managed to stop tens of thousands of illegal downloads.
Industry observers pointed out that the suggested software attacks BitTorrent swarms, thus making it impossible for users to share files containing copyrighted content. Apparently the outfit has been building a traffic management system for Internet service providers when they realized that it is able to stop BitTorrent traffic if needed.
The head of Pirate Pay, Andrei Klimenko, explained that the prototype was able to prevent files from being downloaded and so it began receiving cash from the likes of Microsoft to develop such software.
In December 2011, Walt Disney Studios and Sony Pictures decided to hire Russian Pirate Pay in order to protect the movie “Vysotsky. Thanks to God, I'm alive,” (by the way, best film I saw this year – IMHO) and they had moderate success. The rest of the world hasn’t heard of the software either, perhaps because nobody talked about it. The program appears to be flooding file-sharing applications with fake data, masquerading as peers. The outfit sent specific traffic in order to confuse those applications about the real IP-addresses of other file-sharing clients and to force them disconnect from each other. Pirate Pay claims that it managed to stop 44,845 transfers with the technology. Meanwhile, it is unclear how many downloads slipped through. The company charges between $12,000 and $50,000 for its services depending on the project.

i'd charge a hell of a lot more than 50k. these studios are desperate. still won't work though. you hack me, i hack you. it's a cycle.
There will alaways be a way arund aythig that is boughtout that is theshortand narrow if they are that boteredcinemas will have to stop and dvds will have to be made straight away but this would still mean downloading would happen but would stop a hell of a lot downloading because half the films are cams(new ones)which people would download cams but would go out there buy the dvd sorry but i refuse to pay £15 plus to watch a film with the mrs at the cinema when i can wait a few months and buy a hard copy for less money. it is pathetic now a days sooner people get to grips the better. There is more crimalizing stuff i.e child porn which they aint sorted and still goes on so SORT THAT OUT BEFORE MOVING ON TO A NEW THING
Maybe that would explain why PirateeBay has been down all day....

I will agree with you so far TurtleTom - each action will get a reaction and so it goes. But you seem to be looking at it from a P2P Success POV. For every action you do, they will also react.
At the end of the day it will come down to money and power. When I misread the headline of this article I thought it may have been about a Pirate Bay that was so good it would succeed THE Pirate Bay. Now I have read it I believe the 'money' is coming into the situation again. With success I expect the Pirate Pay to up its fees.
Who will win? I think they will win. If BTJunkie had asked for money from every user how much money do you think they would have raised to stay alive? My guess is not enough. We are up against companies with vested interests with deep pockets and like it or not, power.

DarkFather I can't even save TPB pages I have open already and Stealthy firefox plug in also not having any effect. I did manage to get torrent magnetic links from pages in the cache into utorrent.
Someone had posted a workaround for UK (It was a URL) but can't remember where I saw it and doh! didn't bookmark it.
Stranger still I used a window I tried TPB with to Google 'Is It Down' and no lie this is what I got from google with a capatcha thing
About this page
Our systems have detected unusual traffic from your computer network. This page checks to see if it's really you sending the requests, and not a robot. Why did this happen?
Then when I used and TPB I got the reply it was down just for me. It then gave a link to TPB which I clicked and viola! TPB there on my screen. I thought 'You couldn't make it up!' then refreshed an old cache page and she's back there too. Timing eh?
for a bit more info see this,
Well India ExtraTorrent killed ExtraTorrent so I guess this is not really big news..
It's not down DarkFather you just keep typing in one too many e's. )
so this magical software is a dos script??..TPB has been shut down for past 24 hrs due to ddos attacks

Zettabyte, DDOS has nothing to do with DOS, it's Distributed Denial of Service. The easiest way to describe it is creating an internet traffic jam at the site so that almost nobody can get through. (DDOS also has nothing to do with the russian software in the article)
This software isn't something new anyway.
Mostly it operates like others out there looking for key words and then going after it. Also file contents.
Change the name and change the file into for example a rar and see if this software finds it; most likely not.
Also go figure where is Anon when they claim to be against big business?
TPB is now being blocked by ISP's in the UK due to a High Court rulling. However there are ways around that, the easyest is if you use a proxy, or just use this link http://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?hl=en&prev=hp&rurl=translate.google.com&sl=es&tl=en&u=http://thepiratebay.se/&usg=ALkJrhjXWjRBRJN4CD2Ia4vM1nFhJhkG9A
Sharing should not be stopped. Censorship is a bad thing, starts small and before you know it your F*****!!!
hi some one ask for the shortcut from england to TPB here is is
and you can still go directly in on TPB (yet but the english wiil close from june read somewhere else)
But lets face it they are going to close TPB down some way or another so enjoy as long as it is there.
Like someone wrote *sharing is caring* keep it up they should not get us down
tpb was down in India for 3 days...I heard rumor that networks did it without notice..
but today it is up again..
so I don't know what happened but it was working with proxy than too...
I am sure there will be another way too for this..
An Idea for some to think about. You can download the whole list of magnet links from pirate bay, yes I understand this always changes but why not start a new website that has lists of magnet links from other sites, A simple no thrills site that just has the lists, and those lists are magnet links as well. Share the site address through social media. Just a thought
No issues here with me in the UK getting access to TPB(tho dont use it!why should I?? I have ET!!) without the use of VPN/Proxy.
to be honest my first thoughts when reading of this “Pirate Pay” software,is that it is not being used to bring down the P2P world but more as a tool to get cash off of the movie industry, and probably more cash than the studio would lose thro file sharing

Your people are just to stupid or not Computer Literacy. This don't effect me. I'm on Pirate Bay now downloading. I'm sure Pirate Bay would work out the bugs real quickly.
By the way, this may bring up some legal issues like what is Russian Pirate Pay doing going around sending out DDOS attacks on other people computers? At lease it's illegal here in the US.

Any idea where can we get that film from ? I've looked for it at few websites, but without any luck.
- IMDB says it came out in Nov last year, most likely only in Russian
but am sure that someone did or would do subtitles for us ) If only we can get decent print of that film...
Nice try... but not so lucky.

Silverfoxdk you forgot to post the url
They tried they FAILED end of story! the fact is no real hacker worth 2 shits wouls be caught dead working to stop the pirate community, and as long as we have the better hackers we win. This how it ends, they piss the wrong hacker off and "russian piratebay"and every other government sanctioned attack company finds themselves under cyber attack and loosing everything they got. My grandfather had a saying "mess with the bull you get the horns"!
HELL WHAT ABOUT ARES SAME THING BUT U WILL GET TROJANS,,, THERES NOTHING WRONG THE PIRATE BAY HELL HOW THEY GONE KILL IT ANY WAY SHIT ON THE SHIP LOL

PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM FORUMS AND THE LIKE IF UR DUMB! IE ANYONE THAT HAS COMMENTED HERE.
@alchemist83 if you think everyone that has commented here is dumb then that makes you dumb as well. You maybe 'internet educated', but you sure were not educated by your parents about manners. I'm guessing you don't have a lot of friends that's why/because you are like that. Troll.
As for TPB not being accessible you can try tor or any other proxy programs to see if it is indeed down or it is just blocked in your region.
As for the original article. It would be hard to find all 'illegal' torrents, like someone said the program still has to identify if the traffic is indeed from downloading copyrighted material. Encrypting your transfers would make it harder for them to block it. I'm only talking about public torrent sites/trackers of course.
try this site, good luck
@alchemist83 you sir seem real dumb to me much less intelligent than anyone else that has posted here ...you seem like you lack any real skill ...and spelling things like "ur" and "ppl" makes you look like an even bigger idiot stick to topic no one cares how you circumvent your parents net filters to keep you from watching porn for the dudes
