It would be available in around 3 months and the pricing starts from $499 upto $829. It was announced on this Wednesday.
Steve Jobs, CEO on Wednesday at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco told the audience that, "We want to kick off 2010 with a truly revolutionary and magical product."
It can be used with two wireless networks. First one is Wi-Fi and second one is AT&T's 3G. Along with AT&T, it may work with other network like Verizon Wireless.

Avi Greengart, Current Analysis analyst said, "So far it really looks like an oversized iPod Touch."

Director of industry analysis for The NPD Group research firm, Ross Rubin said, "Well, it's official. Apple is competing with Amazon. Apple will use the "ePub" format, joining Sony, Google and Barnes & Noble.” Just like iPhone, multi-touch finger gestures and swipes are used in iPad, but according to Rubin, “The iPad's larger screen requires less swiping to navigate. That's a big plus from the iPhone."
During its announcement on stage, Martin Nisenholtz of The Times, said, “The newspaper’s iPhone app ‘has been downloaded 3 million times,’ and that the company wanted to create something special for the iPad … We think we’ve captured the essence of reading the newspaper on it.” Anybody can even read The New York Times in the iPad and even send E-mail, watch high quality videos through YouTube and whole lot of more.
At the same time, Amazon’s Kindle (E-reader) and Barnes & Noble and Sony have also launched their E-readers which are on the market along with iPad and moreover other big companies are also going to give loads of more in the coming time.
About 3 million e-readers were disposed of to the purchasers last year and another 6 million are to be sold in 2010 according to the estimations of the Yankee Group. A 6-inch screened E-reader, The Kindle by Amazon which cost for $259, wasn’t sold that much as expected and could just grasp very less consumers. Forrester Research principal analyst, James McQuivey said, “There are about 6 million people who are gearing up this year to buy an e-reader. And they’re going to spend between $250 and $700 on it. They are already people who care about media, and who are willing to spend money on media. So, if you can say to them, 'Gee you can spend $350 on a dedicated book reader, or you’re going to get this amazing Apple device at twice the price, but with the ability to do much more than read books,' then Apple's tablet has a good chance of success.”
Almost all the tablets have features of Web surfing, and in which one can watch movies and listen music and the same can be accessed on netbooks, lighter and relatively cheap laptops. Regarding the same McQuivey said, “Apple isn't viewing its tablet as a laptop without a keyboard, Apple sees this as a personal media experience that they can create. The tablet's most revolutionary impact is on the way people consume media in the home. You take it from room to room, you dock it next to your bed, it becomes your alarm clock. You dock in the living room, it’s a photo frame and a video server for your TV; you dock it in the kitchen, and it displays your recipes for you."
This month, many of the other tablets by major companies have been announced at the Consumer Electronics Show. Companies like HTC and Google are working together on a tablet. HP and Dell are each planning their own tablets. An HP slate prototype is shared by Microsoft’s CEO, Steve Ballmer during his speech at the Consumer Electronics Show.
Some tablets conquered a long way but some very less just like the Pen-based tablet computer which couldn’t grasp much success and could attract little consumers whereas Apple’s stuff are still popular for their extra ordinary attractive applications and services.
Apple this time surprised some because of its price as most were expecting iPad in a cost of about $1,000. And for the same an inspection of about 3,314 consumers was done by ChangeWave Research this month, and the research team said, “There is strong consumer interest in an Apple tablet, and that 75 percent of those who are interested say they'd be willing to pay $500 or more, and 37 percent say they would pay more than $700.”
And inspection of 500 consumers at a shopping site Retrevo.com was also done which concluded that 70 percent of them were those who were not going to spend more than $700 for an Apple tablet and according to 44 percent, nobody of them would like to buy such a device in which a monthly data plan for Internet access is required.
iPad embodies Apple’s continuing environmental progress. It is designed with the following features to reduce environmental impact:
1. Arsenic-free display glass
3. Mercury-free LCD display
5. Recyclable aluminum and glass enclosure
140,000 apps at your fingertips.
iPad will work with almost all of the apps designed for the iPhone. Just download them from the App Store. Or, if you already have apps for your iPhone or iPod touch, you can sync them to iPad from your Mac or PC. Then run them in their original size, or expand them to fill the screen. And developers are working on new apps designed specifically for this amazing device and all the things it can do.
Tap the App Store icon to browse a section of the store featuring apps specifically designed for iPad. Or browse iPhone and iPod touch apps, including entertainment apps, productivity apps, social networking apps, games, and more. Then buy and download apps wirelessly, right from your iPad. No matter what you need, there’s bound to be an app for it.
The YouTube app organizes videos so they’re easy to see and navigate. To watch one, just tap it. When you’re watching in landscape, the video automatically plays in full screen. And with its high-resolution display, iPad makes the latest HD YouTube videos look positively amazing.
A tap of the iTunes store icon lets you browse and buy music, TV shows, and podcasts — or buy and rent movies — wirelessly, right from your iPad. Choose from thousands of movies and TV shows (in both standard and high definition), along with thousands of podcasts and millions of songs. Preview songs before you buy them. Or just sync iPad with the content you already have in your iTunes library on your Mac or PC.
iPad Keyboard Dock
The Keyboard Dock combines a dock for charging your iPad with a full-size keyboard. The dock has a rear 30-pin connector, which lets you connect to an electrical outlet using the USB Power Adapter, sync to your computer, and use accessories like the Camera Connection Kit. An audio jack lets you connect to a stereo or powered speakers.
The iPad Case not only protects the iPad, it can be used in various positions. So it’s easy to type, look at photos and slideshows, or watch movies.

iPad Camera Connection Kit
The Camera Connection Kit gives you two ways to import photos and videos from a digital camera. The Camera Connector lets you import your photos and videos to iPad using the camera’s USB cable. Or you can use the SD Card Reader to import photos and videos directly from the camera’s SD card.
iPad 10W USB Power Adapter
The 10W USB Power Adapter lets you charge your iPad directly through an electrical outlet. And the 6-foot-long power cable allows you to charge it from an even greater distance.
