Sky Broadband became just another Internet service provider to follow the move of Virgin Media and Everything Everywhere and block access to The Pirate Bay.
Broadband providers were supposedly provided a time limit to comply with the High Court’s ruling this past April to deny access to the largest BitTorrent tracker, because it massively infringed copyright. Sky Broadband decided to act faster and set a deadline on the 1st of June. Meanwhile, O2 and TalkTalk announced that they were still working on a system to censor The Pirate Bay. As for BT, it is expected to comply within two weeks.
ISP’s official website informs that they have invested billions of pounds in high-quality entertainment for its subscribers and therefore must protect such investment. Sky claims that such protection ensures that the subscribers still benefit from TV shows, films and music both now and in the future. This involves taking effective action against Internet piracy and copyright violation.
Besides, Sky had also to block access to Newzbin2 last December after receiving a court order to do so. Nevertheless, pirates in the United Kingdom and Holland must not despair, because The Pirate Bay had also taken measures to bypass the censorship measures. For instance, the tracker put in place new IP addresses a few days ago. After this, the Dutch anti-piracy outfit BREIN requested that the broadband providers should block the new IP address without a court order, but was refused. This means that BREIN must now seek to obtain court orders again, while the BitTorrent tracker is ready with a set of hundreds of available IP addresses. However, Sky Broadband might have to start worrying or taking anti-DDoS measures, because Virgin Media recently became the target of such attacks on its website.

Change your hosts file
To do this you need to add the following 4 lines of text to the file c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts using Notepad.
This will give access to The Pirate Bay without the need for a proxy m8...Copy your Orig Hosts File as a back up should you mess it up somehow.
use this proxy tpb.pirateparty.org.uk/
there is also a site called hidemyass

As for vpns in general some say it works wonderful and others say nooo your ips can still bust you and haven t read clearly why it does or doesn t work the vpn.
One would think it should indeed work; it gives your isp a fake addy; so lets say the ips sees it a fake addy and then traces it back to to software site and they recieve a court order to give up the personal info for that addy; isn t that vpn site going to answer in return we can t do that because we don t log visitors ips or demand their
e mail addys so screw you MPAA ?
Isn t that the way it works or have i missed something ? ?
Can we now go over if peerblock keeps one safe yes or no and what about using a vpn along with peerblock ? Fun reading here Later . .

@14 hotspot works well, hides ur IP, but not sure about logs.
Think accessing or using piratebay wont be an issue as such, how can just surfing piratebay can cause copyright infringement?
You would need to hide your IP only when you begin downloading torrents, for which you would need seedbox/VPN.
And peerblock blocks connections from suspected anti piracy/copyright trolls while downloading torrents.
So if an Anti piracy outfit gets new IP, unknown to us, then they would be able to get ur IP's and send infringing notices. The blocked IP list is updated by ppl like us whenever they come to know of the new troll IP's
And about VPN not keeping logs, who knows for sure? But to be on the safer side, use a VPN service situated in a country where there are less piracy issues, other than US/UK for ex

@kuntu i was just wondering, since peerblock is not 100%, would it help to also install an ip faking software like smartIP, or hidemyIP etc, just for that little bit "extra" protection?

Kuntu - Always used peerblock from day one; hum so add a VPN to peerblock but how do i test a vpn to make sure it works; a lot of sites are dead and seems like they run on auto .

@rockman i use hotspotshield befor i starting use the VPN im using now never had any problem with TPB or any other sites same as now i havent found a site i havent been able to visit yet. safe well there is always a but even if use VPN seedbox ect if want to find you they can imo . peerblock only block known IPS . VPN make it look like your browsing from lets say england ect

@16 I never had good luck with all those hide ip/platinum hide etc etc, IP used to remain the same!
and Rockman to check ur current IP go to www.whatismyipaddress.com, with n without using VPN or any other method used for hiding/changing IP.
And to check whether VPN works or not,, check from which all countries they provide IPs.
for ex : if they provide IP from UK, u wont be able to access TPB becoz its banned by UK.
Usually most VPN sites have such information on there websites, dont know about hotsheild you can try find something here http://anchorfree.com/.
Altho all VPN's are not torrent friendly, so you need to check that too.
IF you need something for anonymous torrenting, try seed box.

ITS VPN uk thats why
Sky Broadband is the one of the slowest providers in the uk anyway

Ah Add O2 to the list. Sure ways around it but really to be secure you should used the real url (so say pirateuniverse at top of their TPB proxy list).
Somehow going to the real TPB url with Stealthy stops me signing up as all my Capatcha attempts turn out to be wrong!
Really wanted to sign up to poke a finger or two at the Court Ruling.
How funny would it be that TPB signups quadrupled with the banning by each ISP.

UltraSurf (Google it) also works - for any site
it figures sky would do it, murdochs companies are only allowed to do everything illegal under the sun, but they restrict anyone else from even doing legal things.
if you pay for unlimited service, you should be allowed to do whatever you want, plus not be restricted what sites you can or can not visit. and for example adsl, no matter how much bandwidth you use, it doesnt effect other people because you have a certain timeslot or data channel that is the same size if you are not using it or not.
thats the difference between adsl and cable, sine cable is like an being on a LAN and the more people on it, the slower it gets.

Hope they dont block anymore sites i use as im on sky. but works for me ta
or on the weblink to tpb change .se to .ee
A tricky road to tread for them all to start censorship of sites when we the consumer that pay for their services are restricted in our access to use said services.
All available media on the internet should be free and if anyone should pay for copyrights for same it should be the ISP`s like Virgin and sky etc as they hike up their prices for using Bandwidth and then with claims of unlimited downloads censor what ,where and whom you can download from.
true to their word......
sky has blocked access to pirate bay...
just use.... tpb.pirateparty.org.uk/
gets you in fine.

"if anyone should pay for copyrights for same it should be the ISP`s"
That seems even worse. If they are to pay your copyright infringement (and that would never happen) it would mean they have to know exactly what you are DL/ULing. aka total freedom to snoop at your activity.
this will bypass any block
https on a diffrent server + ip... works for me im with bt

|the percent of people who took files from torrent can be very less of who pay for have live events and who have live events have money to stop it. and,if we see news no body want be in trouble with any quality ISP big company but if you don't know companies have funds to help people or own org means they took percent from subscribers for many causes around world like maybe education or gays and lesbians etc. they point fingers to any one for a bad annual profit and follow politic company rules of never company knows how to stop.||
