The music industry is going through a whole lot of changes. This time, the new change is about to come from UMG(Universal Music Group) is its being supported and promoted by Vivendi.
On this Wednesday, it has been announced that Universal Music Group is going to have a new Chief Executive. And that new CEO would be none other than, Lucian Grainge who is all ready to replace Doug Morris. So the new CEO of USG is going to be Lucian Grainge and the previous one Doug Morris would shift his place from CEO to the chairman of the company.
In July, Grainge is going to be at New York to get his chair and work as a co-CEO until Morris officially turns over the reins on Jan. 1, 2011.
CEO of Vivendi, Jean-Bernard Levy expressed himself about the new CEO of UMG, Grainge. Levy said, ”He has the right combination of experience and innovation to take UMG forward as the migration into the digital era accelerates.”
RealNetworks is also not behind in getting some changes. Just recently on Tuesday, it has announced the split off from Rhapsody due to the continuous loss and for making a straight focus towards the work and get it to success. The interesting thing in Real-Rhapsody Split off is that just as the news of the separation of them spread all over, about 5.8% shares have been gained by RealNetworks till now.
Moreover, Ticketmaster spitted off from Live Nation last month. These two were considered as the top ones in $4.4 billion global concert business, with Ticketmaster selling 140 million tickets a year. Because of this split, Live Nation lost 3.1% shares.
