British Police have caught a 41 year-old individual who is alleged of hacking the official websites of Theresa May and the Home Office. The hacker attacks were attributed to members of the well-known hacking collective Anonymous.
An unnamed Stoke man has allegedly conducted a DDoS attack on the above mentioned websites. The police have been noticed seizing PCs, telephones and electronic storage devices from his house.
The individual was arrested on suspicion of helping and encouraging crime in violation of the Serious Crime Act 2007. The man was bailed until the middle of December. According to Detective Inspector Jason Tunn, working at the Metropolitan Police’s Crime Unit, this arrest can demonstrate the commitment of the Crime Unit and its partners to fight cyber criminality everywhere in the United Kingdom and prosecute those responsible.
Jason Tunn also warned that both assisting and encouraging cyber crime has always been and will be treated seriously in the United Kingdom. However, the numerous members of Anonymous collective are still free and attacking. Moreover, they are likely to want a revenge for their member’s arrest.

I would like to know how he was caught since to DDOS a server one normally would employ a bot attack and they would not have his IP address since he would not be directly attacking the server,so alleged seems the appropriate term, unless he has confessed to such he has every chance of getting off since any one with the know how could have used his computer without his knowledge to perpetrate an attack.
Within certain circles you can employ bot masters to attack for anything for 60 dollars upwards any site of your choosing and never even have to touch a keyboard or turn on your computer and they never get caught since the server usually drops all requests when overwhelmed in an attack and it is not their computers which are used but botted /slaved computers.
I think the Metropolitan police need to do a rethink on who they prosecute since 100000`s of computers are bot infected every year and can be pre-programmed to attack in concert or given an activation command and target IP when required and most people will never even be aware their computer is being used in a nefarious way, even a 14 year old as was the Steve Gibson case (GRC) can be a bot master and DDOS attack a server.

Alleged and suspicion seem to be the operative words!!!
If you wish to know more google-steve gibson DDos attack by 14 yr old,I also believe he has a section on it still at his site Gibson research corporation,it happened some years ago now but the principle is still the same
They can't catch and deport Islamic terrorists so they arrest (and deport) British hackers
Steve Gibson to this day still does not insult people by calling them script kiddies,LMAO.
Alleged hacker since they arrested him for being part of a bot attack but may have just been one of many botted computers whose IP was logged by server during the attack.

haha Aledged is the main word, though yes if he's ddos'ng using hoic and not using a vpn or at least tor (though wouldn't advise tor) his ip is traceable, and seriously have you heard of anon how would an anon member snitch... lols heartily, to be honest they're going to have to say they got someone, a day of major sites pages being hacked, sites being taken down and how many arrests... ta da one 41 year old. Well done British Constabulary you took down anon.lol
yep, I concur they have to justify their huge budget in some way and can arrest anyone they want, but keeping them is a different story. The new National Cyber Crime division is due to be operational in 2013 with new powers and reading through the BS on the UK Cyber manifesto from both ministerial and police we look to be entering an era of Orwellian proportions much as the Americans are facing now with the FBI and homeland security, when we in the UK follow the Americans lead it is not going to be pretty as if we learnt nothing from doing so in Iraq.
Ironically this soon after remembrance day the saying lest we forget comes to mind:lest we forget and are doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past.We should learn from what the Americans have done and are doing to their citizens on the Internet with breach of privacy, wire tapping is supposed to be a federal offence but it does not stop homeland security and the feds from doing it daily to all it`s citizens, land of the free my derrière.
|What is sad ? the fact that a 41 year old man is standing up for his beliefs good luck to him these people are examples to scare from standing up for yourself||
