Two American politicians have leaned on the Federal Trade Commission to stop investigations on the allegations that the search giant violated antitrust legislation.
Two of Californian Democrats in the House of Representatives, calling the search giant a major campaign contributor, have recently told the FTC to stop accusing Google of “unfair” acts in case the Commission believes it broke antitrust legislation.
Anna Eshoo, on the Energy and Commerce Committee, and Zoe Lofgren, on the House's Judiciary Committee, insisted that the FTC was planning to use the unfair standard in order to avoid proving some elements that are required in an antitrust claim. Instead, the evidence for this claim was from some “unnamed reports”.
The politicians claimed that in the case the FTC arrests Google, it might lead to “over-broad authority” for the Commission which could create some legal uncertainties for the companies and stifle economic growth.
The Federal Trade Commission is currently studying a list of complaints introduced by Google’s rivals. The latter is also accused of using its dominance to squash competitors in vertical search areas like shopping and travel.
The FTC provided the commission with a report urging them to file a complaint against the search giant for suing rivals based on standard essential patents. It also asked for injunctions to stop the sales of their products. In the meantime, standard essential patents should be broadly licensed at a fair rate. The local media admits that Google gave about $27,000 to both politicians during the 2012 election campaign.

Microsoft vs the Monopolies commission
Probably all started with Microsoft and Bing not having the same Market or Better than Google.
Google is quick to take rivals to task for on compliance of policies, so why should the rivals sit still while Google follows double standads? I think Google should still be accountable. However, it looks like Google will bribe any politician and the politicians should be investigated for taking so called election contributions.
Most off all, Politics should be kept off search engines.
