7 years ago, a newcomer on the indie rock scene proved that the band can get exposure without being promoted the conventional way:Clap Your Hands Say Yeah are now back with new album released through BitTorrent.
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, the Brooklyn and Philadelphia based indie-rock band, was first to release their debut album 7 years ago through their own efforts. The band managed to gain both critical and public acclaim – for example, Pitchfork Media gave them a “Best New Music” recommendation and emphasized that people have the rare chance to decide what their music sounds like, before an agency cooks up and disseminates an opinion for them.
BitTorrent Inc., which has been successfully promoting music creators over the last few years, is currently supporting Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, saying that the company really needs more bands like this and more ways to support them. Powered by Lost Radio’s delivery platform, BitTorrent will offer its members three tracks from the band’s most recent album and an unreleased demo. If you want to download the free music and support the band, you will have to watch a short ad, and that’s it. The more people download the music, the more money the band receives.
