The entertainment industry sunk to a new PR low recently – they managed to accuse a 9-year-old girl of piracy and confiscate her Winnie-the-Pooh laptop.
CIAPC – the very company that had TPB blocked by Finnish Internet service providers, has tracked some evil file-sharer. The media reports say that they demanded that she pay €600 or go to court. Apparently, the company had no idea that the evil pirate was only 9, which means that €600 was undoubtedly out of the range of her pocket money. They decided to use the case as an example of its extra-judiciary powers. As a result, Finnish taxpayers paid for an expensive raid on the 9-year-old suspect’s home, with the police confiscating her Winnie-the-Pooh laptop.
During the police interrogation, the girl broke and told that she had no money to buy the latest album from local multi-platinum-selling songstress Chisu. Last year the girl switched to the web, first through Google and then the world’s largest BitTorrent tracker, The Pirate Bay. However, the download didn’t work and her father finally bought her music in the store.
Anyway, the copyright cops weren’t impressed with this story, claiming that the girl would lose her laptop to test the power of the entertainment industry. They also told her that it would have been easier for everyone if she had paid the compensation. According to the girl’s father, it was worse than dealing with the Mafia, because the latter doesn’t normally use police to do their dirty work today, nor it feels honorable to hit up 9-year-olds for cash.
According to Electronic Frontier Finland, this recent move clearly illustrates just how far copyright enforcement has progressed in the country. As for Chisu, the artist has said that she didn’t want to sue anyone and that no musician needs such kind of media attention.

Really shocked to hear that. Poor 9 year old girl. Finnish cops really out of their mind. They need electrocution therapy continuously for 6hr per day for one month.

I don't get it. It says she failed to download it so her parents bought it for her. So... Copyright wins and so does the artist?

@ snotlob That's just too damn funny. lmao
Girl didn't have money, probably had normal life stresses, and turned to downloading for stress relief. 9 year olds do have to deal with parents. That's plenty of stress.

@jj: WOW you are a complete A-****
@moviefreak24: its not fake but its also a setup. the actual post for this said that Time Warner was behind this to scare people. there is a lot more to this and a lot of information was left out. like for instance the originall posting said the 9 year old was also hand cuffed and jailed. in that country YES that is LEGAL.
So this is why Finland has one of the highest suicide rates in the world, them damn federales keep stealing away 9 yr olds laptops
seriously though what kind of fookwits would put a nine year old kid in handcuffs,it is not only bad PR for the artist and her recording company but for the police, courts and the Child Agencies will be on their backs for abusing and causing mental anguish to the child,so despite their efforts capturing the winnie the pooh pirate there will be no prosecution and confiscating the laptop may well be unlawful since she owns legally the cd in question.
things really have gone straight to ridiculous now,my son was doing torrents when 5 yrs old and on a pc aged 4 so at what age do they plan to start their arrest from ?,no kindergarten will be safe ,lmao.

What? No warning letter from the ISP? And just how did they track her? over a SINGLE download?
The question at hand is: If TPB is blocked by Finnish Internet service providers, and the download didn't work . . .
And the failed download isn't being shared out, and she owns the Original CD! What did they bust her for?
If I go download that File right now, I hardly doubt the police will be knocking down my door, So what gives?
Things have gone straight to ridiculous with all the copyright infringement BS,will the girl now seek to sue for the failed download since such cost her 300 Euros, only 2 ways to get the 300 Euros back, sue the uploader or make 1000 copies of the CD and sell them on the black market.
|Police is to protect interest of powerful ones. They already are rich but they want more..... even if they can get it from a child.||
