For a few years now the world has been struggling to understand “why Justin Bieber” and how anyone can become so successful on YouTube while most of the public hate them.
It appeared that Google has also been asking the same questions and looked at how some of the popular people in the music business were becoming famous on YouTube though nobody sane would admit they liked them.
It turned out that the entertainment industry has been using certain software in order to create an illusion that some musicians are very popular by boosting their hits on YouTube videos. After Google conducted an audit of dodgy hits, it revealed a whopping 2 billion fake views from record company websites.
For instance, Universal Music Group appeared the worst offender which has lost a billion of its 7 billion views, followed by Sony – this company lost 850 million views. Among the artificially pumped names there were Rhianna, Beyonce and Justin Bieber.
According to Google, it wasn’t caused by a bug or vulnerability, but was part of a move to crack down on hackers and social media promotion websites which built up views and likes on YouTube, thus making them look more popular and attracting advertising revenue.
The users of such services as YouLikeHits and AddMeFast, which are popular among “black hat” social optimizers, were complaining that the purge has hit them hard. They were using robots, spiders and offline readers in order to send more request messages to the streaming service servers in a certain period of time than any human can produce.
However, while Bieber appeared to be a fake popularity, the real music genius who created “Gangnam Style” lost almost nothing. This proves that people will listen to rubbish anyway.

|The person who came up with the idea of "like" and "dislike" buttons should be hunted down and disliked immensely with a brick.|

An instrument played by businessjunkies...
|Good spotting Google! Anyone being sued for copyright infringement should subpoenae the youtube takedown stats. One at a time to clog the court system! As far as Justin Bieber goes...I could not name one of his songs even if a new computer were the prize. Any guy who has 14 year old schoolgirls throwing their knickers at him everywhere he goes can't be all smoke and mirrors though!|
