The search giant is going to move its new operation to London, close to train links to Scotland. According to information received from property developers, Google is currently developing a new British headquarters that could be worth as much as £1 billion pounds.
After some sterling work put in by Kings Cross Central development, one of the city’s largest regeneration schemes, the area Google was opting for has taken off a bit. The company has bought a 2.4 acre site where it plans to build a million square foot office. Thus far, it is unclear how much the search giant paid for the site, but the speculations are that the company wrote a cheque for £650 million to purchase and develop the site. The experts admit that the office building will be worth up to a billion pounds when it is finished in three years.
According to Google’s Vice President for Northern and Central Europe, this move is obviously a huge investment by the company. After the office building is finished, the company will move from its current offices in London’s Victoria and Holborn districts. The rumors say that construction on the site is scheduled to start late this year and the building will have 7 to 11 storeys.
Aside from the Hogwarts Express, the company’s new neighbours will include the real estate arm of French bank BNP Paribas, along with a cultural and education centre controlled by the Aga Khan – spiritual leader of Ismaili Muslims. According to tax campaigners and accountants, the decision to purchase property instead of renting was likely tax motivated. The matter is that Google is unable to repatriate the cash to the United States without paying a fat tax bill.

This comes to show just how much money is out there 7.6 billion people on earth 70% starving and one company alone manages to make an investment of 1 billion. I mean, all we need is 6.6 more companies like this one to feed a bunch of hungry people.
Anyway, Great Job GOOGLE.

@e3pa: Excepting emergenices and natural disasters, if they cannot even manage a simple problem like feeding themselves of what value are they and why would we want to donate money to encourage the spread of faulty DNA? Education perhaps, but no food handouts. Google is arguably already the top contributor in this world to the cause of availability of education. I was starving once too and I didn't need any help to get past it. It just creates dependence and low self esteem.

How can u educate someone who is starving and has none of the nutrients that are required to get your brain working at a decent capacity. what next they shouldnt have kids, do you realise how much of it is due to rape?. Education is already available...to those that can afford it in 3rd world conditions. you probably think starving is not having any breakfast. sort out the food 1st which can be grown and regrown from the same source and has a one off cost. Education has ongoing costs and cant be done without a supply of continuous cash.

Unbelievable. So everyone in the world who is starving is doing so because they're stupid, and consequently no-one should pay it any mind since it's good they're being removed from the gene pool. This is the kind of attitude that one has when one has never been anywhere other than their little privileged corner of the world and could care less about how things might be different elsewhere. It's not 70%, by the way, it's about 30% of the world population that's starving and about 98% of those people live in developing countries. About 15 million children die each year from starvation, and someone is going to sit there and say that those children would have been well fed if only they weren't so stupid?? Incredible.

Back on point, No one or one company needs that much money, while people are homeless or hungry, for what ever the reason
To Google: Well they clearly have the brains to make that money so I see no harm in them investing it in their future and it is their choice on how much they would like to invest towards charity. Clearly the 1 billion in a regional office would not be the cost of the raw materials, but in the process just making another group / individual richer. Clearly someone needs to evaluate if the above funds are just inflated to avoid tax while this could end up being a kick back into a surplus/ reserve account…. Now how difficult is that?
Starvation & Education: Programs should revolve around providing education, but while you get educated, you can also get one meal..... its done in some developing countries already, but clearly more needs to be done since the human race has a higher birth rate coupled with higher life existency than death rate. We have a lot of catching up to do in terms of the investment required.... If all countries start taxing the richest band, they will have no tax havens to stash their money and some of this can be done to do the right thing…

we have two very extreme point of views. the typical world changer and communist at heart, who is so naiv - its even cute. capitalism doesnt make a company evil, just because it is successful and google doesnt only feed the poor (tax back policy), it even brings food to the tables of thousands civilized employees on all levels.
then we got the natural selection dude. i assume seksor wants to provoke and he certainly does with his statement - but it is just as unrealistic as the communist version. ethnical problems always tend to provoke and even though we could now try to figure out how to improve our species with 1 billion pound, we wont change a thing.
then we got the george bush who sees terror behind every corner and closly followed by Jaz808 - shalom!
last but not least, we got lachiche - i mean, if this forum had a like button, he would so push it...
