Guess what’s coming from the side of “Microsoft” now, this time an agreement just in the end of 2009 had been signed between Europe’s Competition Commission and Microsoft.
The agreement was regarding providing new and interesting option to the users of Europe in Internet Explorer (IE). From 1 March ’10, users of Europe would be able to get liberty to choose whatever browser they want to use, just with a simple click. Announcement have already been made, the only thing that is awaited is 1 March ’10 when Europeans would actually get their chances to choose browsers of their choices. The browsers that would be provided as a choice are Firefox, Opera, Google Chrome and Safari.
It seems like no choice is left with Microsoft now except proving the consumers whatever they want. It’s going to be the first time when Microsoft is providing switching off one browser and going into another as the need of consumers and allowing the Europeans to install whatever browser they want instead of Microsoft IE as a default. The new update that Microsoft is going to do is under testing process in the Belgium, UK and France.
According to the study, it has been concluded that almost half of the world have IE as their default browser.
Dave Heiner, Deputy General Counsel and the Vice President of Microsoft made an entry in a blog which stated that, “The software update choice will arrive automatically for Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 customers. Users who get the choice screen will be free to choose any browser or stick with the browser they have, as they prefer.”
Rory Cellan-Jones, a correspondent from BBC Technology, also made an entry on his blog. He said, "Millions of people who have never really thought about which browser to use will now be forced to make a choice. That presents Microsoft's rivals with a unique marketing opportunity.”
Microsoft is undoubtedly helping the people with such updates which are really important and people can grasp a srong control over their online lives.

Just makes microsoft a LOT more confusing for new users, they should have just kept it the way it was, people who first turn on a computer after march 1st will have no idea what browser they want, or even what a browser is, if they've never used a computer before. Plus people who have used windows for a long time, and people that just don't care will obviously pick IE. They should have left it up to us to go download whatever browser we wanted

yah, log2. some people use Internet Explorer they hole life and dont no what the other browsers are, but this plan is also stupid, because if you dont like the browsers you use, then just download a other one, simple, its 3min install, if you like the browser you use, then keep using it.
ill stick to google chrome
I know I am problay the only one in the world who actually uses IE. Oh well ni=ce read thanks for the article.
Like Log2 said, i`m one of the people who didn`t care about my browser. Still using
IE and it`s working fine for me. Also had Modzilla`s Firefox but i`ve never really
used it, cause IE always worked good. So i don`t see why i should change my browser,
even when MS lets me choose my browser i`ll probably stick to IE...
Nice article though! THX for the info!
Its a nice option, to have a choice, but there isn't much use for it. Its not like 20MB or so extra on your hard drive is gonna make a big impact, in order to use another browser.

Google Chrome for me, way faster.
I agree with coddock, chrome is faster than IE but I like Firefox for downloading from ET. Havn't used IE for a year or more. Good article though. Thank you..

The newest version of chrome is great.
Firefox for me too - everytime I use IE I might as well hang out a sign that says Please send me all your viruses....
Its about Darn TIME!
|Anybody else see that the window that lets you choose is actually IE anyway.||
