Through the net and file sharing comes RISKS
of maybe contracting the latest WORMS, TROJANS, & MALWARE
etc. Not necessarily just through file sharing P2P but on the net as a whole. So it pays for you to be protected in some way. As some protection is better than none at all. I challenge anybody who says they have never had a VIRUS
or trojan or any other infection.
Here listed below is a few chosen products to help you along the way in makin file sharing a pleasant, fun and hassle free operation. All Free some trial periods then you register for a license still free...
AVG Free anti virus
Avira anti virus voted 5 stars in protection from chip.eu
Avast-Free for 60 days on trial then you need to
register of which you recieve an e mail with your license key
F-Prot Nice free version originally for linux but now for windows latest ver i believe is 220.127.116.11
Bit Defender another well known anti virus
Threat Fire- voted in best 101 free applications
Clam Win-High detection rates from this lightweight software but does not include a real time scanner . You will need to manually scan to detect anything.
A firewall is a part of a computer system or network that is designed to block unauthorized access while permitting outward communication....What ever it is its safe to say your better off with it rather than without it. You can use the the one with your operating system or maybe check these free firewalls...
Ashampoo free firewall
PC tools firewall plus
Jetico personal firewall
The 2 most commonly used and talked about are zone alarm
and commodo. These 2 seem to be the given choice amongst file sharers and people alike..Having used them both they can be a tad tricky to set up but work well when set up correctly..
Another nice piece of software i need to mention is Malwarebytes, Lightweight and very fast. The latest version 1.40 comes with the new ip blocking module as well. Also has real time protection.A quick scan taking about 8 mins and works well in the background.
Well out there you can find everything you need to be safe and protected its just a matter of what works best for you.Posted by: Date:

As far as firewalls go, i have 2 hardware firewalls deployed on my edge network and NAT. so that eliminates most problems.

|I ve been using AVG 8.5 love it, so lite and not a power eater and doesn t miss a thing . .|
|Not gonna get into it but I feel theres a creation of need for demand on Norton's part so I wont have anything to do with em'.(Iknow...another conspiracy theory) =) But I just use Window's Live One Care and AVG sometimes for single file scans, and of course some privacy tools =)|
