Chad Hurley, one of YouTube co-founders, was noticed discussing his plans for the future during the South by Southwest festival last weekend. Surprisingly enough, his plans appeared to include the launching of a video network similar to Facebook.
Media reports reveal that Chard Hurley and Digg’s founder Kevin Rose had an on-stage chat about starting a video network which could focus on creating a place where people could work together and create video content. Moreover, the service is almost there - Hurley admitted they are going to launch it in approximately one month.
The entire operation will take place in a former aircraft hangar that has been transformed into a 41,000-square foot studio. In this studio, everyone can put their minds to work, partner and use the high-end equipment. Moreover, the streaming service considers modifying the comment section on order to enable quite a professional take on the way people rate and feedback the uploaded material. Actually, the idea of making money from video material is not new to the business mind. For instance, Autodesk bought quite a popular mobile video service called SocialCam for $60 million.
In other words, it seems that besides the intention to start a legitimate music streaming service, YouTube is also interested in other areas of business. It will be quite interesting to see what it results into!
