In a recent interview with The Guardian, James Blake announced that he wasn’t concerned with people downloading his works without permission. However, despite the fact that the British singer-songwriter seems quite comfortable on the issue of unauthorized file-sharing, he sees the future of the entire music industry as a rather gloomy thing.
James Blake’s latest album “Overgrown” had its official release just a few days ago, but it had already “debuted” on a number of torrent portals days before official release. But anyway, if you are one of those who downloaded the new album for free and you like it, you can always go to the performer’s official site and buy it legally.
During the interview, James Blake said he clearly understood how easy it is today for anyone who wants to download music for free to do so. Indeed, why wouldn’t his listeners download the new album for free? Blake’s label, Universal, still hopes that people will do the right thing and click the “Buy” button, and they label is making a lot of efforts online just to make people to look at the “Buy” button. This is why the musician honestly said he was starting not to care.
In the meanwhile, when asked about the music industry as a whole, James said that things didn’t look too bright in his opinion. He said that the world and the industry are changing, and compared the music industry to a ship which is going down, with people trapped inside, bashing on her windows trying to get out.
Along with the release of “Overgrown”, James Blake has also started a mini-tour across the United Kingdom, with the first gig being in London. Everyone who wants to see him live and support his music can check the tour dates and purchase tickets.
