The authorities of the United States have lifted a set of the national sanctions which used to bar sales of consumer electronics and software to Iran. The US imposed sanctions back in 1992, and 20 years later, the Treasury department has issued a general license allowing exports of US hardware and software to ordinary Iranians. However, Iranian government agencies still have to look elsewhere.
Despite the fact that it might look like an admission that the sanctions have actually never worked in the first place, the United States is still trying to maintain its image – the country argues that the new policy is meant to help the Iranians communicate via social media. The goal of the Americans is to help Iranians overcome communications restrictions that were imposed by their autocratic regime.
Last time the Iranians went out into the streets in great numbers was in the Green Revolution. In the time, they faced a violent crackdown in Tehran and other major cities. Despite the fact that more communications gear will perhaps be welcome by the Iranians, iPhones don’t actually help when people are confronted by droves of armed thugs.
Moreover, the industry experts point out that it’s not like the country is in a tech blackout. Instead, tech loving Iranians always manage to find ways of importing banned hardware. In result, Iran is never short of tech savvy geeks who know exactly how to get around local restrictions and censorship.

Starve the Iranian people ruin there economy that's the way to win then over. If I was Iranian I would hate me. Have we not made there lives miserable enough. Why are we trying to force our culture on them. What about Saudi Arabia they treat there people so much better. Oh they sell us oil so that's okay. How nice of us to let buy stuff from us. If they can build nukes I am sure they know where to get a smartphone.
ogger are you an Arab?! cause you talk like one!
I Am an Iranian and I Am proud of myself and my country.
As for the hardware exports,i don't think lifting sanctions would change anything because Iran's markets are full of cheap Chinese stuff.
and for the software part i have extratorrent and i would say: God bless BitTorrent !

@ CopyrightMan You got me all wrong. I am american and I am mocking what my country does to Iran. I think Iranians are good people and should have no sanctions. My point is the U.S. thinking a country has nuclear capabilities but can't get a hold of cell phone is ridiculous. Of course they got phones computers satellite tv ect ect. I am not against Iran at all. When I say if I were Iranian I would hate me its because all the bad things my country has done to yours I would expect you not to like me.
personally see the Americans needing trade with Iran more than Iran needs such trade after all 500 million a year to keep just one of the American carriers on patrol up and down the gulf, x 3 isn`t a cheap undertaking and believe that it is an initiative to not only change their image with the people of Iran but as previously stated to put their spyware and malware into the country as they have done in others.China borders Iran so cheap phones and other goods are a lot closer at hand than American stuff especially over priced Apple and Microsoft goods full of proprietary spyware and malware and requiring licences.

from two years ago Iran has started it's own smart phone/tablet production line and since then they have made a lot of progress, maybe not the best quality in the market but still better than the Chinese stuff and i don't really care if my device is an iphone5 or an Arya2,not until they can do the job done.
