Adblock Plus is known as one of the most popular advert blockers on the market. The statistics says that up until a few months ago the service was going from strength to strength, making its way onto millions of computers and mobile devices.
Nevertheless, it seems that Adblock’s venture into mobile was a wrong move, because it started unraveling ever since Adblock appeared at Google’s Play Store. The search giant didn’t want to tolerate ad blockers on the Play Store, so it was quick to banish the application. However, at about the same time more sinister rumors emerged.
According to the vigilant corners of the worldwide web, there was more to the search giant’s decision than it looks. They were alleging that the ad blocker was actually playing a very dangerous game by blocking some advertisements while allowing others to get through. Mobilegeeks has alleged that Adblock wasn't squeaky clean, pointing out that three years ago, the service entered an odd strategic partnership with Cologne based Eyeo with 15 people on the payroll. Somehow, it turned out that its only product was a free browser extension, which doesn’t sound like it can afford to pay the rent and 15 salaries in Germany.
Mobilegeeks also pointed out that by late 2011 Adblock Plus was offering an option dubbed “Acceptable Ads”, basically including adverts that were unobtrusive and acceptable, according to community ratings. The problem was that the acceptable ads were also supposed to be small, unobtrusive, non-blinking and not based on Flash. So, Adblock was alleged of practically whitelisting all advertisements coming from “friendly” websites and subsidiaries, involving fake reviews, shady business practices and even porn.
In the meantime, Adblock managing director Till Faida said in the interview that their “strategic partners” couldn’t be named, while the partnership was basically part of their “Acceptable Ads” whitelist. Still, the main problem for the company might not be its execs, but another piece of software called YieldKit. The latter basically “manages” thousands of advertisers, letting them to get past ad blockers. Although it’s nothing odd, it was on the list of “Acceptable Ads” and it was developed by people tied to the Adblock team. The industry observers point out that it wouldn’t be the first time Adblock was accused of shaking down portals through its “Acceptable Ads” program.

I,ve had adblock+ on my computer for the last 2 years and have not had an advert since. I hate ads and popups so Adblock works for me..
Google keeps trying to sneak “Acceptable Ads" past Adblock. Every few weeks or so text ads start appearing when I search. I re-block them and they're gone. Google is intrusive/insidious enough without ad revenue from users, they make plenty from selling info.
as "wingit3" said same here.. I have been using this useful little app that blocks all those pesky ads and to tell you the truth... I don't leave Home without it!!!... all you need to do is play around with your filter settings and you should b OK... Thanks so much for a kick-@$$ app...

Adblock is the best peice of software out there 10/10. But please donate.
Adblock works, it`s down to the user to accept or decline acceptable adds and perhaps it was google plays wish that it not be added or kept in their store since all their adds in other applications and games Angry birds for example would be killed that gave this impetus in slurring the application.
|I also support DNT plus which blocks attempts at tracking me including being tracked by extratorrent which I found eye opening,I actually raised an eyebrow!.||
