Police in China are currently investigating the death of a 23-year-old Ailun Ma who was reportedly electrocuted while answering her iPhone. The victim was a flight attendant for China Southern Airlines. Local media reports say that the girl died by electrocution after picking up her iPhone to answer a call. The model of the gadget is unknown – some reports say it was iPhone 4, the others name iPhone 5.
The girl’s family explained that both the phone and its charger were purchased at an Apple store. In the meanwhile, Ma’s sister has been urging Apple customers to be very cautious when using their phones as it charges. Her cry quickly went viral on Chinese social network Sina Weibo. The latest media reports admit that the charger may have been a “knock-off”. According to a telecommunications expert Xiang Ligang, knockoff chargers “sometimes cut corners”. The matter is that the quality of the capacitor and circuit protector may be bad, which leads to the capacitor breaking down and sending 220 volts of electricity directly into the device battery. However, a picture shown on CCTV of the alleged charger was of a different design to the official Chinese model.
The tech giant claimed in a statement that Apple was deeply saddened to learn of this tragic incident and offered its condolences to the girl’s family. Apple promised to fully investigate and co-operate with the police in the matter. However, Apple representatives refused to comment on whether or not this was an isolated incident.

|NEWSFLASH - "PERSON KILLED BY FIREARM" - We're not sure of what type of firearm, nor the full details leading to the cause of death, nor are we sure of if it is an official firearm or a copy. The firearm was possibly purchased at an official firearm store but then again it might not have been, however a random picture shown via an uncorroborated and unconnected CCTV show a similer firearm that was slightly different to official firearms but close enough in resemblance to warrant a scare story. |I keep warning my friends about buying cheap|
Chinese knockoff products to save a few dollars.
I must admit, they could do exact reduplicate
of almost anything. I won a lawsuit in US court
over a hacksaw breaking in half and almost lost
Apple-shit, what sort of nob would pay £700 for a bloody phone anyway, oh wait seems like loads of Muppet sheep have.
You can buy a gun for £200, i would rather have that in my pocket and keep the other half a Grand thank you very much. Apple are now giving away free forehead tattoo's of their logo for anyone interested.
And i bet they offered the poor girls family a free upgrade.
No. 2's a bit racist, all the parts in your iPhone came from China.

thats new...i only know things from china always explodes
how in the world could you win a lawsuit over a broken hacksaw blade?!?!?!?!?! I call shenanigans, and once again iphone h8ters present themselves based on their toilet quality opinions based on what they like for whatever reason they come up with. I'm thinking knock-off caused the problem as despite what people say apple does quality work on their phone and accessories. Knock-offs are crap. yes a lot of apple stuff is done in china, but the factories have the real specs and are run differently under higher quality control standards. Not going to get into any of this is better crap but lets just keep it real and lose the opinions thats are basically worthless

I think we should postpone judgment until the investigation is complete.
Guys, the brand new china made knock-off
hacksaw blades actually broke into several
pieces on the first use. Yes, blades break
all the time, but never on the first use,
at lease a name brand blade. Anyway, I settle
the lawsuit and I paid pretty good, lol.

You would have thought that an expensive I-phone would have had fail-safe circuitry that would have stopped the phone when an excessive electrical input charge was sensed. Apparently not.
