The tech giant is believed to be in negotiations to acquire Israeli motion-tech company named PrimeSense. The latter is known for being responsible for the inner workings of the Kinect. According to the local media reports, the two companies had been in recent weeks and a delegation of Apple developers paid a visit in early July – this is undoubtedly a very unusual move for Apple. The same rumor sources note that the negotiations are at an early stage, but the experts still estimate a potential sale at about $280 million. This amount would not be bad for PrimeSense, as the latter has raised initial venture capital funds of $85 million.
It is known that PrimeSense’s technology is licensed to power Microsoft's Kinect, allowing device cameras understand scenes in 3D. In other words, after acquisition of the company, an American tech giant will be able to ramp its capabilities in motion sensing technology, perhaps for an Apple TV update or similar set top box. The industry observers even point at the potential applications for the company’s long-rumored smartwatch. However, this product is still reported to remain at the design stage. Finally, obtaining PrimeSense’s technology would put Apple at an advantage in gesture recognition as well, let alone providing the company an interesting list of licensees.

Apple has development plans in place to fit said motion Tec, into all new devices. This is so you can jump up and down flapping your arms wildly on the other side of the room/park/sidewalk to answer your phone, to save having to go and pick it up. Inside sources say devices will ship with free megaphone so the people calling you can hear what your saying from the other side of the room/park/sidewalk. More as this Tec develops.

they buy it then stick an apple on it an sell it overpriced
Motion tech is the future for devices, as far as being over priced apple is no different when purchasing out the box as quite a few other "smart devices" and the option to not buy is always the consumers choice so why hate them for it? I would be curious if apple may be working on a gaming device or system? I think that would be quite interesting. They have the right software base and ability to do so, this purchase would put them in the right direction if they wanted to do that. Choosing a brand the way people do and hate or love on it to me is like watching religious Kool-aide drinkers debate over their cartoon characters that tell them that everyone else is bad.
Well i thought Sony were overpriced, but Apple topped them.
But with Apple its more a case of the Zombies with too much money that follow and buy every piece of junk Apple sell. Oh look a new iPhone 5 for £700 must buy one, err by the way all the other crap you just had to buy for your iPhone 4 won't connect to the iPhone 5. That's the same type of BS Sony pull, remember when a Sony camera would have to have a Sony memory stick when everyone else used SD cards, and FMA Sony's were 4 times the price. And i think it was Nintendo that brought motion controls to the mainstream market.
Would you walk round every day with nearly a grand in cash in your pocket?
Of cause i, like many others have waited for many years for a large tablet like the stuff from Sci-Fi shows. But i am not paying £600-£800 for something to read PDF's and sometimes browse the web on.
