The US schools are in a hurry to buy surveillance and security equipment afraid of school shootings. By 2017, the school surveillance market alone is predicted to be worth almost $5 billion, which is twice more than last year.
Schools are paying for provision, installation and maintenance of video surveillance, alarm systems and physical access control. The latter includes such security products as smart cards and other methods to limit access to restricted areas. Earlier, schools have depended on a combination of physical access control and emergency notification systems, and lots of educational institutions are still looking forward to this approach. However, the majority is increasingly changing the way they see outright surveillance, and demand for video surveillance is through the roof.
Experts confirm that the growth rate for video surveillance equipment has more than doubled that of such products as smart cards. They say that after such events as Sandy Hook and the Santa Monica shooting schools believe that security systems should be responsible for detecting and mitigating problems as they happen. This means that they welcome real-time, intelligent surveillance, instead of simply providing forensic evidence after the fact. This is why schools are now using security system integration providers, able to offer technologies and services that integrate multiple safety mechanisms into a cohesive solution.
Industry observers believe that video surveillance systems in the education sector have additional advantage – they can be used for variety of tasks, like collecting evidence for a criminal investigation and working as a deterrent for theft, assault and vandalism. It can also provide greater visibility to the security staff of the schools.

Welcome to Soviet America....Papers Please

@edddy By gun control I'm sure you mean using two hands, right?
Surveillance in schools is not a new concept and is present even in the United kingdom where Gun control is in force.
It's just to condition them to feel like it's normal or safer to live in a police state on a prison planet.
If they gave a crap about shootings they wouldn't have a sign outside that says they have no guns to shoot you with. They'd also recommend that SSRIs be banned. The truth is that lighting kills more people, and they aren't trying to pay $5 billion so everyone can wear lighting proof suits.

Right on about the SSRIs! And about guns, every time one of these piss ants shooting up a school was confronted by someone with a gun, they killed themselves right away. No resistance, whatsoever. So CLEARLY the answer is to not allow anyone in schools to carry a gun!! lol
how do kids get guns at the first place? how do they smuggle guns into schools without detection? maybe they should introduce airport scanners at the main entrance.
|Shit then, I must have gone to the wrong school in Yankee land it had security and scanners way back in 76'!!||
