Recent media reports released a few top secret documents about how the US National Security Agency illegally spied on its citizens, thousands of times per year. It turned out that most of the May 2012 audit was a catalogue of cock-ups where the agency collected information by accident, blaming analyst and programming errors. However, in one situation the phone records of over 3,000 American citizens were collected despite the fact that the agency had been ordered to erase them by a surveillance court.
Overall, the audit reported 2,776 cases where the National Security Agency violated its own privacy rules. In one case, the spooks confused the US area code (202) with the international dialing code for Egypt and snooped on domestic US phone calls. In another situation, the agency mixed domestic and foreign emails collected from tapping into a fibre-optic cable passing through the country. The NSA wanted to store the emails and claimed to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court that they simply couldn’t filter out which emails belonged to the US citizens. In response, the court ruled that the email collection effort must stop, because it was “deficient on statutory and constitutional grounds”.
The audit in question appears to have been provided to the mass media several months ago by famous Edward Snowden and was initially supposed to be seen by the NSA’s top brass and no politicians ever saw it. Although Snowden made promises to not reveal any secrets while he is staying in Russia, more information of what he had passed to the media earlier is expected to be released soon. It is known that Glenn Greenwald, the Guardian reporter who has published the most NSA secrets based on Edward’s leaks, keeps working on a pile of them. According to his tweets, he will be releasing more data soon.

I am shocked, shocked to find out there is illegal spying going on here.
I agree the audacity of these governments spying on people.
Honestly what do people expect? Trust me if this kind of technology was around when the United States Constitution was written, they would have worked it in. Unfortunately we Americans have such a big problem with "Big Brother" watching everything we do, but if something like 911 ever happens again and this technology could have helped in stopping it. There would be mobs in the street saying our government does nothing. We want our cake and eat it too. Hell we still have frosting on our nose from the last two pieces of cake we stuck our noses into. Now Syria? As an American I feel for the people in Syria but it is not our place to do anything. Fix our hunger, homelessness, lack of jobs and education here first. Then maybe we can worry about other countries.

well said Captnslapnutz, i totally agree with everything you said, im from england and its the same here , the governments wants to get involved but the people dont.... its time the rest of the world woke up and realise it aint the people of our countries that want these unlawfull wars, its the government and there brainwashed followers who follow them into battle.... i like there saying that they will stand behind the troops they send into battle, why dont they stand in front of the troops and do us all a favour and hopefully they will get struck down 1st, saving innocent peoples lives who they are about to send to war...

both of you well said..its the same here in AUSTRALIA..governments just think they have the right to do what they do,and spend our TAX DOLLARS on total shit and WASTE money all the time...i think they need to all pull there heads in and start serving the people that put them there...
then leave, get a job in another country and pay taxes there.
You've got to give credit to the NSA they used an ungodly amount of money using 3 w's to perfect 5 w's WWW.Who,What,When,Where,Why.Everyone has to admit that when they first heard the phrase World Wide Web they were under no delusion as to what that would mean if they used it.
@2 and those who agree with him how stupid are you

James Bond lives on lmao
You think smart phones are for your benefit? How do you think governments and security people unearth these terror plots? Luck? asking people at the bus stop? push a button and there's your life bud, like it or not.

@2: Speaking of having cake and eating it too, how about that US Government having the cake (spying on innocent private civilians) and eating the cake (never having any of this spying actually catch a terrot plot)? They used 9/11 to push through this wiretapping extremism, and we were called conspiracy nuts when we said "but they'll use it to spy on citizens". Another Fun Fact about how the US spies on its citizens? They have agreements with other countries (eg France) whom they don't prevent from spying on Americans (cause it isn't illegal technically) and trade their findings. You can't trust the US Government... next thing you know they'll be trading Nuclear materials to non-friendly, non-NPT signators who have atomic weapons programs (which is against numerous American laws). Oh wait...
@10 That was exactly my point. The only reason there is laws against it because the technology wasn't available when the U.S. Constitution was written. Technology is moving at break neck speeds. Hell I I was born in the 70's and my parents still had a phone with a cord on it. Cell phone? lmao. My grandmother had a rotary dial phone in her house. Move with the times.

@5, Its not that easy bro, I have been working for 6 years trying to get out of America. The police are trying to make me a prisoner because I won't buy insurance. I can't get a license because I parked my car in my backyard. If you can't or won't play ball, they can hold you under the water until you die inside. It's a war on freedom already; we can't see the forest for the trees because its happening gradually. We are being prepped for the chip, and once you have that chip you are CATTLE! ITS COMING and ITS HERE ALREADY. REBEL

What can you do? You put them there, then you can take them out of there. As for the children, terrible, terrible, terrible, but you know what? Every government or rebel group uses children to highlight their point. The US will next use children for their immigration push.
Has anyone seen Assad use the weapons against his own people? Only the word of the US government and the spy agency both of which don't have real good track records since Benghazi. General Alexander, NSA director, may have read the Constitution many times as he responded to a heckler, but has also shown through his comments he has no reading comprehension.
