The UK intelligence agencies promised to a parliamentary committee today that ordinary people’s secrets are safe with them. The outfits sought to defend criticism that their powers were too great and that everyone’s privacy was threatened.
The representatives of the intelligence agencies claimed that “secret is not sinister” and that they don’t spend their time listening to phone calls and reading emails of every person in the globe. Besides, the Internet remains a great way to anonymize data. They say that if you think of the worldwide web as an enormous hay stack, the agency is trying to find needles even though much of the data is innocent. In the meantime, they pay no attention to the surrounding hay and don’t want to delve into innocent phone telephone calls and emails.
The agents explain that a government’s first duty is to protect the people, and some of its work can be secret. As a result, certain methods should also remain secret, but that doesn’t mean sinister. Anyway, all intelligence agencies are subject to the law. Of course, if you are a terrorist or a criminal, then your communications can be monitored. But if you are not, then they will leave you alone.
In the meantime, the representatives of the spying agencies admitted there were examples of terrorists talking to each other and discussing ways to change their methods after Snowden’s revelations. They complain that Edward’s leaks will make the spy agencies’ jobs far harder over the next few years. Various threats from different sources were all taking advantage of files published following the former NSA contractor’s leaks. However, not all experts agree that Snowden leaks had been very damaging.

They're claiming to be looking for needles in a hay stack without actually looking at the hay or potential needles themselves.
The problem with such grass-mining activities is they tend to produce a lot of situations were a little straw of hay is tactually perceived as a needle but -of course- actually isn't. Then starts the drawing conclusions about perceived needle.. Unfortunately, only intense contextual scrutiny can reveal the needle is in fact merely a small piece of hay. For this they would have to intensely break in on your privacy, maybe even warn your employer, alert your municipal law enforcement, etc...
pssttt, informania....there's a guy watching you through the window and recording everything you do.
However, if you quietly walk into the kitchen and make a hat out of tinfoil, you will become invisible.
I could come by and make you permanently invisible if you'd like.
You would cry if chaos truly rained..
The only thing worse than the spying are "deniers" who, at this point, are either trolling or dumb as a post. I politely call them "Ostriches" because their heads are in the sand, its a nice way of saying get your head out of your arse.
QUOTE "has no interest in ordinary people" Ordinary people equals ignorant brainwashed masses with no knowledge beyond what is spoon fed (forced fed) to you through school magazines TV etc. @ Chaos Reigns, that means you have nothing to be concerned about. GO back to sleep.
Oh, how cute! They "don't want to delve" into YOUR data... so they're going to record all of it and delve into it anyway.
@1 is actually correct for those who read what has been written and take the time to consider the amount of false arrests and leads from the combined ambiguous data collected by Microsoft fusion centers and the actual lack of terrorist plots that have been uncovered by this skimming technique over the last half a dozen or so years since domestic spying was legalized in the USA.So as to make such invasions of personal identity and privacy intrusion more effective they have hacked googles data and have a free run at over 1000,000 + already profiled in facebook ,twitter,my space, bebo as well as isp`s and local government to bolster their profile perametres now, hell they could probably tell how many teeth in my head if they choose too.I do`nt think common individuals are the highest on their priority list at this time which is what is being said, not that they will not continue to gather a dossier on everyone and his dog until it suits them to do something with it.
|As for Snowdens leaks they only repeat what has been told to the world by Bill Binney and others already and it was in 2000/2001 that the whitepaper on global domination of cyberspace was released by the NSA that stated its intent for the future operations we have in place at this time. The USA has used Iraq and their overseas invasions to undermine the people of their own country and others security domestically with TSA and homeland security, gone against it`s own constitution and the wishes of the people. When it could`nt be done domestically they have circumvented their own laws to obtain their objectives ,these are not the people to trust with your privacy or data and if their foreign partners have not yet got the picture the message is clear-watch your back because uncle SAM will stab you in the back just as easily as he has done to the American electorate.||
