LimeWire has incorporated AVG Anti-Virus and -Spyware protection software into its peer-to-peer program. The price of the addition is only $34.95.
You have to do justice to LimeWire, as it is trying to do its best in order to stay effective in an increasingly overcrowded marketplace of file-sharing programs. Opposed to other peer-to-peer applications, which are pretty much free (except Usenet), LimeWire is doing all it can do when trying to offer file-sharers a ground to pay $34.95 for LimeWire PRO version.
It has now been announced that in the course of their attempts the company has got a license for using the AVG Anti-Virus engine in order to integrate that anti-virus/spyware protection into the new version of an application (LimeWire PRO).
Thanks to this partnership, every single downloaded file will be scanned prior to LimeWire Pro allowing it to execute or play on computer of the end user. This will prevent receiving infected files downloaded from harming machines, as written in a press release. The users of LimeWire PRO version will see the assurance ‘Protected by AVG’ after safely scanning and cleaning every downloaded file.
It is certainly considered to be a significant improvement as compared to the present system that allows inexperienced users to receive harmful files to their computer. But that will work right only if the users are convinced to pay $34.95.
SVP of Global Strategic Alliances Rocco Donnino says on behalf of AVG Technologies that P2P networks have walked a good way by now. People worldwide use peer-to-peer networks for sharing documents and files, and AVG is pleased to protect them. The company is committed to securing the world of web, no matter what it takes.
The traditional architecture of peer-to-peer networks has no central point allowing to enforce security policies, thus making themselves vulnerable to infected content and malware that often creeps into the system. It’s the users’ responsibility to make sure their computers are secured in order to ensure the general health of P2P network.
VP Product Management of LimeWire declares that the company is committed to offering P2P’s best experience and cares about users’ security. LimeWire is always looking forward to improving, and such cooperation with AVG will make it able to provide users most secure P2P technology.

Nice read , AVG as always been a pretty good free and lightweight anti-virus but hates keygens lol goes bezerk.....
thats a good pair.. but yeah limewire is out dated now
Good Article, thanx for the super read, Limewire was good in its day but got bad reputations due to its virus worms and what have ya, but Limewire and AVG is a good pair, once you download from Limewire you can scan and get rid of em viruses that came with it, this is my opinion only. Torrents are far better but like Limewire, torrents are also capable of being crammed with fakers or viruses. Really its what your used to using, i liked Limewire myself but rarely use it now... You can also get free versions of AVG that do pretty much the same thing as the paid but without the added extras.
Thanks always love the articles.

why pay 34.95 when it will be upped on here soon hehe :-}
Great article - AVG goes crazy with a keygen and a patched exe - but all things considered - anything that can add more legitamicy to (the much maligned) P2P protocol is probably a good thing for all of us. Doesnt change the fact that Limewire sucks bigtime and I'd only use it as a last resort....
|When I use Limewire which is on rare occasions, I download the Pro version for FREE!!! In addition, if I use AVG I also download the full version FREE!!! $34.95 I don't think so :)||
