UK Prime Minster has started censoring the worldwide web for the entire country, and now millions of BT customers are Internet censored from all those things that David Cameron doesn’t like. The Internet service provider confirmed that the filter is on and working.
New BT customers will have to choose on whether they want to activate the parental controls. They will also have to explain to BT why they refuse and in this case there’s a chance that their IP address will be flagged to be closely watched by GCHQ. As for existing BT customers, those will be contacted by the company during the next year and asked if they want to activate the controls and allow the government to decide what they can access.
Customers who want to turn the parental controls on will choose between 3 set filter levels – strict, moderate and light. All of them ban porn, obscene and tasteless material, along with hate and self-harm, drugs, alcohol and tobacco and dating websites. In addition, moderate and strict filters will also block websites featuring nudity, weapons and violence, as well as gambling and social networking. Strict filter also blocks fashion and beauty websites, file-sharing, games and media streaming.
You can always add or remove other websites from the list manually. Moreover, the filter can be turned off at specific times, for instance if you want it to act as a “watershed”, and it can also be set to another level during “homework time”, when kids are busy with their homework. According to BT representatives, the company takes the question of online kids protection very seriously and is glad to launch the whole home filter to help parents keep their families safe on the Internet.
In the meantime, a recent report by Ofcom showed that less than 50% of parents with children aged 5 to 15 have any filters in place on the family computer, with 13% admitting they either don’t know how to install controls or had no idea it was possible. Perhaps, David Cameron knows better how to look after children, as he famously abandoned his kid in a pub when he went out to dinner with his missus. Some people wish there was a way of outsourcing that responsibility too. Maybe Prime Minister simply doesn’t want to put taxpayer money into a public education system.

"Perhaps, David Cameron knows better how to look after children, as he famously abandoned his kid in a pub when he went out to dinner with his missus."
lol, Perhaps That's why he want to filtering the internet there.
yup agree with dovahkin.. // It was always an incredibly stupid idea, because kids could bypass this type of filtering at least as long as about 15 years ago when I was at school. At least technically inept parents were worried about this sort of thing before, now the government has assured them that everything is fine when it clearly isn't. This will just make the problem worse, not better.

Wonder how fast fast internet users will be worse off then those in Red China and are their workarounds around the idiot David Cameron censorship ideas; lets go hackers . .
If kids started as early as my son on a PC then by the age of 10 they will know how to download and use either anonymox or Tor to bypass filtering by mr Cameron, those of slightly more years will have their own porn hubs or use those found in lists provided by other apps like videodownload helper so there is no stopping it so good luck with repressing the youth and spying on those who elected you for the benefit of the USA David, they used to call spying for foriegn nationals as treason ,well its being done to the electorate without their consent for BS reasons and those with half a brain cell will not allow it.

WOW! just wow
"moderate and strict filters will also block websites featuring nudity, weapons and violence" ok I get this some parents want to keep there kids away from all the nudity and violence that there is out there as long as possible that's cool I can get behind that but this bit "Strict filter also blocks fashion and beauty websites, file-sharing, games and media streaming." I don't know it just seem a bit extreme to block people from looking up website where they can buy new clothes(does that include Next, Primark, the ASDA and Tesco clothing sections?), being able to play games (seriously?! Does that include all those great learning games design specifically for young children?) and being able to watch YouTube video's(kids are going to miss out on all those FAIL videos and just end up doing stupid sh!t because they didn't know any better), to me it just seems a little bit extreme HA! and then when you refuse to get the filters, which I can see happening when parents get sick and tired of having to phone up (probably just to be put on hold for f-ing ages) their ISP to change the filter settings every day the GCHQ start watching you closely.
I did like the part which said if you object to it you are automatically flagged as the implication is that you are guilty of it because you want not to be spied upon, lol.
Aother good article ,thanks,SaM.
Cameron needs a filter fitted to his brain to prevent him having idiotic ideas like this in the first place.
Remember when Cameron derided the last government for being a "nanny state"? What an absolute hypocrite.
"All of them ban porn, obscene and tasteless material... hate and self-harm, drugs, alcohol and tobacco and dating websites... nudity, weapons and violence... gambling and social networking... fashion and beauty... file-sharing, games and media streaming."
Basically, Cameron has blocked just about every reason why anyone wanted the internet in the first place. Well done, Dave, you are a complete and utter Etonian plank. I wish someone would filter you and your ilk from living, as you are no use to anyone in modern day Britain. Where's our 21st century Guy Fawkes when you need him?

They forgot to filter all the war crimes the U.K committed during the Iraq war.

So the filter blocks all of these "nudity, weapons and violence, as well as gambling and social networking. Strict filter also blocks fashion and beauty websites, file-sharing, games and media streaming." Shite that just leaves the Government websites that are legal!!
Maybe someone could advertise on a side banner of the Governments sites, some porn or something and then they'll get banned as well.

Err What??? "They will also have to explain to BT why they refuse". Can I answer with 'Why should I?' or even 'I like to see fit young girls getting all holes stuffed'.
Seems to me he should censor a lot of mainstream media. How about mainstream movies? Can't a juvenile operate a DVD player and watch 18+ certificated material. Seems to me all DVDs above Universal certificated should also be 'filtered' aka banned. Go on Cameron I be the smell of money and economy make that decision one to sweep under the carpet. But ban similar material if the money isn't in it. And how about the rest - tasteless, hate etc My mum watches Emmerdale and I kid you not if ever I am unfortunate enough to see/hear it all it is is screaming, lunging at one another, scheming, hating etc.
As someone one put it "Where's the money". That little phrase often cut to the centre of the argument. He WILL NOT ban Hollywoods latest multi million dollah release WHATEVER it contains on the basis it could be put into a DVD player by an 11 year old. Why. Because of THE MONEY.
You sad Tw*t. (twit obviously)

This guy SLIMERON is a total joke and a waste of tax payers money which could be put to much better use, he is slowly destroying what once was a great country, if i believed in reincarnation i would swear he is HITLER back from the dead, just picture him with a mustache and he looks just like him.
There is no way they are putting any such filters on my BT broadband, i pay good money for it and i'll surf where ever i please.
At the next elections vote this dirty slime out!
Long Live ET, SHARING FOREVER..Peace to all!

This is to stupid for words. The best part is the latest report of the websites accessed by the computers of the House of Commons.
"New figures suggest politicians and staff in the Houses of Parliament attempted to access online pornography more than 300,000 times last year - and a website for extramarital affairs was one of the most popular sites."
Taken from huffington post
Then we have the gambling sites.
"Betting websites are accessed hundreds of thousands of times a year from parliamentary computers used by MPs, peers and their staff.
In just one month bet365.com was clicked on 16,986 from computers used by members of the Houses of Parliament and their employees.
Figures released under the Freedom of Information Act showed gambling sites were opened almost 700,000 times - or 1.3 times a minute."
Taken from dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2442260/Betting-website-receive-700-000-hits-year-parliamentary-computers.htm
And then they have the nerve to want to impose there morality on the rest of the nation, what a bunch of hypocrites.
Such puritanical oversight has not been evident since the days of Mary Whitehouse and even then this plan of Camerons puts her ideas to shame, there is such a thing as a nanny state there is also an extreme nationalist ideal along the course Cameron is steering and the likes of which Adolph Hitler and Nazi Germany would be proud of.
Unfortunately having a coalition government will make it difficult to oust Cameron in the next election if both parties of the coalition work together to stay in power as there are just not enough people who want labour in government again and no other parties with any chance of getting them out, even the monster raving looney party would be preferable to Cameron in most peoples books truth be told.
lmfao people this will not go through next year when push comes to shove it will be postponed u acc think he can block all the porn and dating sites hmm i dnt think so not with all the money the government is making
