UK Online Filter a Disaster

British anti-porn filter program was enforced while everyone was on holiday, and it seems that Prime Minister’s attempts to impose it turned out to be an unmitigated disaster.

davidcameronthree.jpg

First of all, the filter is very easy for kids to get around. But now it appears that it blocks access to leading charity websites like ChildLine, the NSPCC and the Samaritans – thus harming kids instead of protecting them.

In other words, in the name of protecting kids, UK Prime Minister cut them off from their life-lines and would allow children to be sexual abused or commit suicide as they cannot get the help they need. Kids have been banned from seeing women’s charities, the British Library and the National Library of Scotland, which might be the first stop for children wanting to do their homework.

Cameron’s filter blocks access to the Parliament and government portals and the websites of politicians. Even if any politically aware children wanted to complain about this to their MP, they cannot. The only good news is that the filter also blocks access to Claire Perry, the MP who has campaigned for the introduction of those filters.

Harry Clapham, who offers guitar lessons on his site, complained that he was also being censored by Cameron’s filter. Thus, a parent who opts in will be safe from guitar lessons giving their children bad dreams. Other users complained that “parental control” is just ISP’s term for switching the whole Internet off. One of the largest British Internet service providers O2 claimed that it was changing its parental control filters in order to unlock access to some of the charities that had been blocked.

No avatarI'm amazed that this idiotic filter didn't immediately block access to all Tory-related sites, considering how many pr:cks and c*nts make up the Tory party.

Good old Claire Perry, the modern-day version of Ann "Doris Karloff" Widdecombe, the senile old Tory hag who had the audacity to lecture the "plebs" on their sex lives, despite the fact that she proudly remains a virgin to this day, in her late 60s. At least Claire Perry has probably had sex, albeit sad, orgasm-free sex with a partner who has trouble maintaining any kind of enthusiasm for the arduous task of humping such a cold, unresponsive bag of meat.

Mr_T_Cat avatarLet me say from the start, I am no fan of Cameron. But I am a fan of protecting my children from some of the darker sides of the net. Yes you can say I should put my own safe cards in place and I do at home. The problem is they have access to the net outside of our home.
The idea of filtering some of the more vile aspects of the net at source, child porn etc. Cannot be a bad idea. The mistake many of the other commentators are making is laying all the blame at Camerons door here. The actual blocking of the types of sites this article is addressing is not down to the government, it is left to the isp's to implement. All the Government said was that all households should have the ability to block certain categories of content at source. This should not be confused with the list of sites carrying copyright protected material, which have been made illegal to access in the UK.

So in this instance the fault squarely lies with the isp. Yes all our other problems lie with the government. But lets lay the blame where it should be going.

Mr_T_Cat avatarSorry Shione, I dont know what country you come from or live in but your opinion on the immigration in the UK is wrong. It seems to be purely based on bad Daily Mail news coverage or the views of the far left political parties like the BNP. Neither represent the view of the vast majority of the UK population. Most of us have always welcomed people from all nationalities, who come to live here. The only thing most take issue with is when those immigrants dont wish to conform to the laws or morals of our way of live in the UK. Try getting free health care in any other country in the world.
I have lived in a multi cultural area for many years and count many Muslims as close friends. I know as to the vast majority of us that the corruption of Islam is down to only a few irrational hard liners, like the killers of Lea Rigsby. Unfortunately they tar the whole Muslim culture with a bad brush. It is only other Muslims who can rectify that problem from within there own culture.

Darkan9el avatar@wingit3 (4) I think cggc is just using a poor ? to English translator.

Re the original topic, would wew have expected anything less from the puppets of the NWO, they will get away with it IF we the public allow them too, so DON'T.

re immigration, No benefits for 2 years, zero tolerance on crimes, large fines seizure of assets and immediate deportation, assets to pay legal costs or part thereof, same pay for immigrants; if people want to work we need to be fair and this will stop cheap labour employers killing small businesses. All immigrants must take out health insurance for 2 years. No freebies - get on a waiting list like the rest of Britain. Mandatory language lessons paid out of earnings.

Daewoo avatar@Mr T Cat. If you want to keep your kids safe that is YOUR duty. It is not up to Cameron or anyone else to censor the internet for ADULTS just so you can feel safe. Your kids are yours, not anyone elses. You cannot wrap your kids in bubble wrap and expect the world to go along with your dream. Adults have the right to make their own decisions, not have things forced on them because there a bad parents on the planet. Child porn has been blocked for many years, so don't use it as excuse for this bullshit.

Mr_T_Cat avatar@Daewoo. Yes I do want to keep my kids safe. I also want to keep everyone's child safe. I unlike yourself do feel it is the responsibility for not just the parent and Government but the whole of society to help keep our children safe. As far as wrapping my children in bubble wrap, yes in the case of some of the vile, not just child pron, but so called normal porn, I will attempt to wrap them up.

That perhaps is the big problem with society today, no one wants to feel responsible for anything except themselves. Your approach of as long as i'm alright and my life is not impacted is very shallow and self centered. At the end of the day all that is being "forced" on you is that you will have to ask what content you wish the ISP's to allow or block. So in your own words "Adults have the right to make their own decisions", all you need to do is tell them that you dont want the content blocked.

Dominatez avatarMr_T_Cat - Sorry to burst your bubble. A recent newspaper article pointed out that 85% of the people interviewed DO NOT WANT any more immigrants. I am one of those 85%. I am sick to the back teeth of seeing them come to this once great country and get given everything whilst people who have lived here all their lives are sleeping on the streets or going hungry whilst these shitheads live in lovely big 250k houses. You clearly are as out of touch with todays society as some other people called judges are. I have no time for politicians who are greedy corrupt lying lazy bastards who all need shot. They come, they make false promises, get paid rather over inflates salaries and then make stupid decisions like let all the riff raff in from any country and let them claim benefits. It's just a matter of time before this country collapses in on itself and at some point in the future i forsee civil war, and the way we are as a nation that's coming sooner than later. David Cameron is another imbecile who has no clue of todays society or it's real problems or issues. He is just another useless politician with his head embedded firmly up his arse. Another idiot who will leave No 10 and leave the UK in another state of financial ruin. Another typical English Government (Not Racist. A FACT).

As for ISPS trying to block content. Bring it on guys. Just gives us a challenge to start reverse engineering. No matter what you block we will always get round it so that's a waste of time. Reminds me of "Whack A Mole". This shitty ISP Virgin Media think they can stop us viewing websites. Futile. Pointless. As for child porn. That is being eradicated by groups and by the govt, but their will always be an element of it that remains hidden on the web accessible only by browsers like TOR. But, everyone will do their bit to be rid of it.

And daewoo. I agree with your thinking. Can't imagine why kids would go looking for child porn ???

Mr_T_Cat avatar@Dominatez - You really are a fool if you think that stopping immigration into the UK will solve the financial problems we face. Without the immigrant work force the NHS would collapse. It is mad to try and blame immigrants for the out of work population in the UK. The sad fact is that a huge number of those on unemployment benefits are just to lazy to do a hard days work. They don't want the menial manual jobs, they don't want to be nurses ,care workers or be in the fields picking spuds. Doctors are content to have the government help sponsor there training, but then they leave the NHS either to go abroad themselves. Leaving us with no option but to rely on immigrate workers. The fact is that there are jobs out there if you are prepared to get qualifications, retrain, work hard, relocate and accept wages to start with not much above the level of benefits, in some cases.

As for your 85% claim yes I am sure that within certain readerships you will get results like that. But if you asked the same Daily Mail readers which glove goes on which hand, 85% would get that wrong as well. Your comment on 250K properties again is only a snap shot of what is the true picture. Yes there may well be such examples, depending on the area of the country you look at. But you will also find another 10 British families living in the same value housing within the same area.
I made no claim regarding the alloying of immigrants to make benefit claims. I would in fact ban them from claiming for two years on entering the country, make them learn English and follow our morals and laws.

I was not making a claim that the UK should become a free port for all. What I was referring to was the previous post regarding immigrants being given priority of UK nationals. Reports of which are whipped up again by the BNP and the left wing press. Unfortunately the supporters of both have IQ's so low they believe it. Sadly we have become a welfare society. With the new motto being ask not what I can do for my country, ask what my country can do for me.

I never see any of you commenting on the 150K Brits that emigrate each year. No doubt in your mind that is ok. Because we should have the right to live where we please of course. The fact is that we know live in a global society. If the UK wishes to retain its GREAT Britain name we have to adapt to that global market. I am fiercely proud of my country. Never more so than during the 2012 Olympics. I cheered just as much for “Mo” Farah (born Somalia), Jessica Ennis (Jamaican father), Bradley Wiggins ( born in Belgium, father Australian). In fact analysis of podium places found at least 11 gold medals, three silvers and 10 bronzes were won by athletes whose immediate family came to Britain from overseas. Strange how we are all so keen to adopt them as our own, when it suits us.

In respect to ISP's it is not just child porn I referenced. It was referring to all sorts of porn and other vile items depicted on the web. I personally don't think children should be subjected to any such material. The problem is that you do not have to go looking for these items to have them come up on things like Google. Kids will search for there favourite pop star, to be presented with his or hers latest "leaked sex tape" Since these groups of items are only being blocked by the option of an at source filter, what is the problem.

Dominatez avatarMr_T_Cat - Apologies for the first previous rant as you appear to be an intelligent sentient being which is a rarity on here nowadays. I am not racist by any stretch but i like many other people who contribute to the economy are growing sick and tired of the tide of immigrants who are coming into the country with their begging cap in one hand and their family in the other. They contribute nothing but expect everything and i can see why Nick Griffin (BNP Leader) stated that he no longer has to push for voters as the current government will push them to the BNP in droves which is exactly what is happening.

I agree whole heartedly about some form of means test which needs to be implemented immediately and swiftly before the economy collapses and we see our taxes go up to foot the bill for these scroungers. I also agree with you about the lazy work shy UK populus and believe me when i say i see them in my job daily, and it really angers me when i see them with brand new clothing that is brand named and they have never worked a day in their lives. I, probably like yourself, have to work damn hard to be able to afford these luxuries for my family, whilst paying a mortgage and bills. I am fortunately leaving my current job and moving on, so i will not have to see these lazy slobs that get up late, sit watching Jeremy Kyle, and go out spending all day long at our expense. Benefits were designed to help the needy for a short period of time whilst they got back on their feet. It has now become a lifestyle with each consecutive government improving and adding new benefits for work shy each year.

And why do the curent population choose to leave ? I'd leave in a heartbeat with my family if it wasn't for having elderly grandparents and parents. This country has nothing to offer. Lack of opportunites, lack of everything to be honest. A police force stretched whilst criminals walk around scot free. Increasing tax and insurance contributions each year. Hidden tax rises. Rising Fuel and Energy prices. Now why would someone not want to move from a £150,000 3 bedroom house in the UK to a £150,000 5-6 bedroom house in Australia with a possible swimming pool with constant sunshine and lower bills etc ?

The brits who are emigrating are usually leaving to goto another job in another country. They are not like the millions of unskilled lazy work shy immigrants that breed like rats, that are constantly pouring into the UK with no work skills of any description. I am embarrassed by Britain, but i am proud to say i am Scottish even though i live in England.

I have watched successive governments strip this great country down to a mere shell now, and privatise anything they could get a quick buck from. Has is helped our economy ? Not at all. Healthcare will eventually go the way of the USA and if it does then so. I wouldn't mind paying for it, if it got rid of the health tourists and the people who have no intention of ever working but expect to be treated for illnesses when they smoke 40 a day and live on chocolate, biscuits and pizza.

The government think they are helping the economy by bringing in new people. Wrong. These people can barely speak English, 80% of them have no skills and that includes social skills. So most of these people who do get work, are doing it illegally and do not contribute back in, with their employer choosing to pocket the contributions they would normally pay as their is now an abundance of unskilled labour. So the government see less going in.

We could debate this all week as our society is becoming worse daily. Kids running round like feral animals. Parents who think the world owes them a living. Children having children. Society and Morality is dead in the UK.

And the simple way to stop sites from showing porn etc. All sites in the future will be legally bound to have particular tags so search engines will be able to identify them. Any deviation from the tags the site has been registered with, will cause the site to be closed down and the owner fined.

Mr_T_Cat avatar@livensflame LOL, I stand corrected, sometimes in the heat of battle we all make mistakes.

@Dominatez Sorry I to must apologise for getting on my high horse. I think basically we are of similar minds. In that we are both wish to be proud of our heritage. I fully agree with you regarding the selling of of government assets for a short term gain. You only have to look at the latest rushed through sale of the Post Office. To sell of a company making close to 600Million a year in pretax profit plus its huge land assets for only 3.3Billion goes beyond believe. Even the much hated Maggie knew not to touch the P.O.
But I know the answer. Lets form the next Government from members of the E.T forum. Anyone want to be Chancellor?
