Two individuals who allegedly belong to online hacking group Anonymous have recently been arrested in Perth and Sydney for hacking into both local and international sites. The Aussie police explained that the men were arrested after searches of their homes in Australia.
A number of computer hard drives and other equipment were seized during the search. The authorities estimate that it will take a few months to analyze them, because there are tons of data stored on them.
The country’s police revealed that it would be alleged in court that the individuals knew each other on the Internet and targeted entities including a large ISP and web servers that host Australian and Indonesian government websites. The 40-year-old Australian citizen is charged with aiding the unauthorized modification of Melbourne IT Ltd’s computer network in Brisbane, which resulted in unauthorized modification of the web servers of Indonesian government to cause impairment. This suspect is scheduled to appear in Perth Magistrates court in the coming days.
The second suspect is only 18. He is charged with unauthorized modification of information to NetSpeed Internet service provider in Canberra to cause impairment, and unauthorized access to and modification of restricted information owned by the ACT Long Service Leave Board in Canberra. This man will have to appear in Sydney central local court.
The Australian Federal Police explained that people claiming to be members of the Anonymous hacking collective are known for attacking Australian government and corporate networks for the past 24 months. The intrusions had resulted in theft of personal information, defacement of online portals and DDoS (distributed denial of service) attacks, which caused websites to go offline.
DDoS attack is one where multitude of compromised systems simultaneously attack one target. The officers say that such attacks can cause serious disruption to government and business networks. This, in its turn, can be catastrophic for those who rely on the networks in running their small business or administering their entitlements or personal finances.
The police claimed that the impairment or disruption of communications is a criminal act and can have serious consequences. The Anonymous members will learn their lesson.

..two have fallen, twenty shall rise.
That´s the only lesson to be learned. Nobody can ever arrest us all.
We are Anonymous. We don´t forgive, we don´t forget. We are legion.
OnyxSoul you might be a Anonymous pervert, with no hacking skills
OnyxSoul are there over 9000 of you?
FYI @2 and @3 you do not need hacking skills to employ bot attacks as a 14 year old proved in one of the first such attacks against Steve Gibson (GRC) and i believe there are probably more like 90,000 people or more who are either in the anonymous cadre or more who are sympathizers believing that we the end user should not be spied on through our governments and ISP`s on the WWW which was created for everyone to use freely by TimBL.
The Internet is not owned by America nor is it their god given right to have us in a database with free access to our personal information supplied by ISP`s and our respective governments.
It is totally ludicrous that our government should pass our private information on its citizens to any foreign power and at other times would be called treason since that is what they label Mr Snowden is it not, food for thought.
