On this Sunday, 4th of April, an Earthquake of magnitude 7.2 has turned everything upside down from Los Angeles to Tijuana. This disaster left out the cities with shaky buildings. Two people lost their lives in Mexico. The situations became damn unbearable that even hospitals and nursing homes were evacuated not to get it more worse as there was no sign of electricity and water anywhere and even the buildings were gone unstable. And for the same reason one city of California shut off.
It's estimated as one of the strongest earthquake to hit region as earthquake of this much magnitude was never ever experienced by the region in decades. It was centered near Mexicali just south of the US border.
Lucy Jones,USGS seismologist said that, “It sounds like it’s felt by at least 20 million people. Most of Southern California felt this earthquake.”
Sunday afternoon’s earthquake hit hardest in Mexicali, a bustling commerce center along Mexico’s border with California, where authorities said the quake was followed by at least 20 smaller aftershocks, including ones of magnitudes 5.1, 4.5 and 4.3. The initial quake had a shallow depth of 10km.
Alfredo Escobedo, Baja California state Civil Protection Director said, “It has not stopped trembling in Mexicali.”
All was going on in front of the eyes of Escobedo and he saw a man being killed off due to the breakdown of his house just outside of Mexicali and moreover he saw a man who got hit by a car when he came on street with panic.
According to Escobedo, objects swinging here and there harmed 100 people as most of them got struck in fallen objects and got serious injuries. There was nothing but blackout as there was no power in the whole city.
Everything was gone upside down. The Mexicali General Hospital had no power and no water and because of the same 300 patients were evacuated and were moved to private clinics and even there, so much of doubt was flowing around regarding the emergency generators that how long that is going to supply the power and that was also matter of tension for the patients and the clinic staff too.
One more person witnessed this disaster in Calexico. His name is Rosendo Garcia, 44. He was on his way to home with her daughter when the quake stricken. He said, “It felt like I was in a canoe in the middle of the ocean." And he observed loads of houses in his trailer park got massive damages.
Recently, Los Angeles & San Diego experienced an earthquake on 6th April which had magnitude 4.6 centered at California.
According to LALATE, a news service, since sunday they have been constantly updating each and every single movement of the earthquake and since then three dozen of quakes of lesser magnitude have been experienced daily in California.
More Quakes striken -
*Magnitude - 5.1 in Seeley on 5th April
* Magnitude - 3.9 in Seeley on 6th April earlier
*Magnitude - 4.5 in San Felipe, Mexico just after 12 minutes of Seeley's 3.9 quake on 6th April.
*Magnitude - 4.6 in Seeley on 6th April's midnight.
USGS data for the 4.6 Seeley quake is as follows:

Yeah, a lot of people I know felt this one, but I didn't. I guess I just didn't notice it when it happened. Plus, Baja is pretty far from where I live in Cali, so the time it reaches my city, the power of the quake will be tiny compared to how it started. But tbh, with the recent big quakes happening left and right, I've been preparing just in case for any future one's that may happen. But honestly, I fear a bigger one is going to happen soon. I don't know why or how, but much like animals and how they can predict bad things happening, I can sense something is just coming soon, and it's going to be bigger and badder. Well, nothing we can do to stop mother nature; it's going to happen, so the best thing we can do is prepare and hope such a thing doesn't happen. Thanks for the info, Emu (and for posting it for us to read, Sam). ET the place to be.
I'm not sure if most people realize it or not but with the recent increase in earthquake activity, especially in some areas that have NEVER had them before or historically recorded, can affect the shifts in ocean currents that regulate our weather patterns as water flow and air patterns are pretty well connected. Quakes change the physical directions of ocean currents thus affecting the flow of the atmosphere. I suspect more earthquakes are bound to happen, especially in the United States, in areas like the mid-west and eastern states, and Atlantic seaboard. It has happened before, but not for thousands of years, and the recent tremors suggest that it could happen....soon.
Yea tell me about it "Messiahx4ever', since the late 80's things have been getting Significantly worse. and will continue untill people get it through there thick, empty skulls..
ohhh GOD things r really turnin upside down by earthquakes... the lives of people in the country is badly affectd.. Forecasting guys sud make ppl aware of such things...
Kingtiger...when people finally do get it through their think empty headed skulls. What then? What do all those idiots do to prevent an earthquake? Should they know better? WTF kind of comment is that. So your comment basically states that people in California can prevent earthquakes...damn those thick empty headed skulls! Thanks for the read Sam. Emu you need someone to proof read how you write. I was convinced I was reading something from a kindergardner. Next time I'll just read the headline...then google for the info.
The United States is nothing more than a modern day Sodom and Gomora and I couldnt be happier about not living there any more! People who are much smarter than me have long since predicted an increase of natural disasters the likes of which have never been seen or recorded. towns, cities, states and regions will be obliterated into nothingness.
You think its an accident that there has also been an increase in the release of disaster movies? Americans are so bloody arrogant though that even while it is happening to them and around them, they deny its real! While the oceans churn and the winds turn and fires burn they look around pointing their fingers at someone else saying "oh No not Me"!
I dont see anything good for the Unites States 20 years from now! It's all begun, the wheels have been set in motion!

Thanks EMUworld for keeping us informed and SaM for posting.
@#5 SaveIt4later A lot of our AA's and admins are writing in languages other than English and using translation programs. So the fault lies in that not the article writer. We can either have a few words misplaced or have articles in many languages, I'll stick with the system that is in place now.

Dang news people "Magnitude 7.2 quake shattered California".... shattered?? really? the only thing that i know of that shattered here in san diego was maybe someones glass cup as it fell off the table. although it was a good long shake. after about 10sec i decided to go outside in case the shaking got worse. considering the magnitude i'm amazed there were so few casualties + relatively light structural damage near the epicenter, could have been much, much worse.
p.s. godchaser, so what your saying is u hope everyone here in the u.s. dies a horrible death because were all so sinful + corrupt? talk about arrogant.
The increased earthquake activity is due to the H.A.A.R.P. Project. Look it up.

They knew there was going to be an earthquake of this magnitude YEARS ago, when the tsunami hit in 2004, they even guessed it would happen in 2010 or 2011, the only problem was they said it was going to be off the coast of California causing another tsunami. They also stated it would be magnitude 9.0.. so have we seen it yet? who knows, but the plates have moved, so hopefully it will buy the Americans some more time
And Lol ad Godchaser, I'm not here to knock your beliefs or anything, personally I don't believe in God, I believe in Science, however if you can post your theories, I can post mine. An Earthquake is nothing more than land moving and rubbing against solid land. Now it can be caused from a tectonic plate, or from a fault type, either way, it's just land rubbing up against more land... Had nothing to with God even if he did exist.
And just an FYI, there are about 18 earthquakes a year that measure between 7.0-7.9, and 1 a year that measures over 8.0... so this is just Americans over reacting again

I love the american bashing. Hate makes you cool amirite. Personally this is the reason I think america should say f u to all the other countrys and go back to the way we were pre ww2.
And generalizing. Really? That just makes you retarded.
As for the earthquakes eh w/e they happen. Just like all other natural disasters.
log2. It is the news media over-reacting so they can try to make people live in a state of fear. 99% of the Americans take quakes in stride and go on with their lives. The other 1% are the people that are afraid of anything and everything. As for the "science" I have seen so far posted here, I wouldn't even dignify it as science. YES I am qualified to make a statement about it. I have a BS in geology and a masters in earth science.
its a sign of the times...

geology_guy, I agree, I didn't mean to say it is American's over reacting, I meant it's the American Media over reacting, exactly for the reason you posted, and I only said a small amount because I hate it when people bring "God" into an argument, I don't go on to praying forums, or news, and say, That's science that makes tornadoes, not God, so I don't like it when they come on public places saying it's because of God... that's just ignorant
its seems like .. 2012 is d real end....
Why do we have articles like this on ET? Its supposed to be about the internet and torrents, as it was before the sudden expansion of ET when Mininova capitulated. Come back Obscene and give us ET as it used to be. Leave the general news and fear mongering to the media!!!!
Log2. OK I get it! LOL
I am a scientist and I believe in God. You choose not to believe and I am not going to force my beliefs on you. Personally I find that religion and science can go together without major conflicts.
I seriously doubt that God sent an earthquake or sends disasters to punish anyone.
That is like the people that believe that George Bush sent the hurricane to New Orleans.
It does not happen that way.
Oh well, I do not want to start a major discussion on religion or politics. I just wanted to say how I think and let it go at that.....
