The tech giant has been ordered to hand over papers to the Canadian Competition Bureau. The agency investigates into whether Apple used unfair tactics to boost iPhone sales in the country, pointing out that the agreements Apple concluded with mobile networks could have encouraged the operators to increase the prices of rival phones.
Thanks to huge consumer demand for the iPhone, its manufacture got considerable bargaining power when negotiating contracts with mobile operators. Now the Competition Bureau thinks that Apple has abused its position.
Apple was given 3 months to provide all the documents to the agency, including the deals reached with Canadian mobile operators. In the meantime, agency pointed out that it was possible the tech giant could challenge of the right of Canadian courts to force its Canadian subsidiary to provide records held by the American parent company. On the other hand, the Canadian competition law enables the local courts to compel the production of documents held abroad.
Back in 2013, the European Commission made a similar step, sending out a questionnaire to mobile network operators trying to find out Apple’s sales tactics with iPhones. The Commission claimed it had information that the company may have colluded with mobile network operators, which could have potentially led to the foreclosure of other smartphone manufacturers from the markets. The investigation was ignited by complaints from networks about the contracts that had been struck with the company. In result, no anti-trust investigation was started.
Apple has recently won another long-lasting lawsuit concerning iPods and iTunes, where it was accused of preventing the use of competing music players by consumers.

I am a Canadian resident and i can tell you that apple has cornered the market . They aren't really any different then Bell Mobility or Blackberry and Telus. They jam a 3 yr contract down your throat and give you a $ 700.00 android for a few hundred or free on a contract. The problem is none of these cell's last the duration of your contract so your forced to shell out crazy money for some guy to make a repair and hope you get the balance of your contract without losing your shirt. My charger crapped out and apple wanted to charge me $$ 55.99 for a new charger they said that an aftermarket charger could cause heat damage and more then likely ruin my cell so i paid out the cash. The next day my friend bought me a charger from Home Depot for $19.99. I had already used the new apple charger but took my bro's advise and used the multi charger. Cell works good charger works good so i took the apple one back to the store in the mall . Because the charger was not defective they would not refund my money and after telling the guy my experience he told me straight out that they are told to tell us aftermarket is dangerous and to push only apple products. If apple didn't didn't make a few hundred million last year would i matter to them ?. I signed a 3 year contract and so far have replaced the screen because they are not warrantied and neither was the charger that crapped out at 4 months old. The guy that sold me the phone was solid with me and made sure i was hooked up and working i have no complaints there i just think being a higher end product they need to stand behind their products.
I agree 100% with number 1! Apple doesn't stand behind their products which are purely junk!
apple is unethical, treasonous, dishonest, greedy, anti-american, you name it... (and anti- the country made in too)
simple solution, don't buy apple products. anything. period.
they are not as good as you think and not as good as you are made to think they are.

lol. I used aPPLE IPHONE FOR 5-6 YEARS WHY? because THEIR IPHONE WAS SIMPLY BETER THAT THE COMPETITION. there REALLY IS NO WAY ELSE TO SAY THAT. tO DAY I USE WINDOWS PHONE AND ITS AWSPME TOO. Ops caps, but yeh there are some dodgey practices going on, Just look at the tin industry in india that mobile phone makers need, People think because its mac they are above other businesses and don't do wrong things, instead people like to blame Microsoft for being anti this anti that. Its a business, and like all businesses they are trying to maximize profit, that means that will pay pay people more money, or some sort of incentive to give them more incentive to sell their product(if you worked for care phone warehouse would you sell the phone that gives you no commission or the one that gives you 50 bucks?), but lets face it the iPhone is very popular not because its bad but because its actually very good. Exactly like the galaxy s5 or the htc one and soon to change and be there the lumia series.
Every single cell-phone manufacturer will do whatever is necessary to increase their market share, Apple just has more negotiating power as their devices are the most wanted from the public. You live in a fantasy world if you believe any of these companies are trying to help the 'little guy'.
Also, to guy above....Canada's contract lengths on iPhone's dropped from 3 years to 2 years...over a year ago, so go get a new phone & quit yapping nonsense. I had my iPhone 4 for 3 years (still use it as iPod) and only had to replace the battery after 2.5 years (which I bought new off of Amazon w/kit for under $20...including shipping).
Who cares, iphones are just way over priced cells,my smart phone does just as much at a fraction of the price,Its the same way with their Mac computers, all your paying for is the name,i built a custom gaming rig last fall for under $1300 quad-crossfired gpus -8core liquid cooled cpu running at 5.514ghz, that blows Mac's top of the line out of the water, hands down,,no contest !
Apple is like Starbucks "Look at me everybody I have a $5 cup of coffee!" Mostly fad and ego for those with more money than sense. As long as people will pay more for these type of products there will always be companies like Apple and Starbucks waiting to take that money. The only power Apple has over us is the power we give them over us.
@6: 5.514GHz? that means it's over clocked. curious to know your specs. since there's no such thing as a 5GHZ CPU (YET). Overclocking is universally STUPID and the gear never lasts even the life of the warranty. If it's not over clocked then maybe you've been a victim of crappy sales pitching where 2 physical cpu clock speeds are being added together to get that amount. if that's the case then you've fallen for it. But as i said , your alleged cpu "speed" is BS. what's your CPU BASE FREQUENCY (not including bus speed)... 133.3MHz under a multiplier of.... ???MHz? bear in mind i am not some idiot IT techy who thinks he knows something. I work as a high end engineer in the field and i know 100% that there's no way on this planet you have that CPU speed. Nobody in the civillian market does.
So far, we've seen the i7-4770K overclocked to both 7.0 GHz and 8.0 GHz, and now we see another overclocking something that's possibly even more impressive. While the overclock shown here might just be one that goes up to 5.0 GHz, it appears that the overclocker has managed to pull this off at just 0.904 V.
@8 this copy/paste is from 2013
"Want a CPU with the most gigahertz horsepower going? Chipmaker AMD has unveiled the world's first 5GHz, the AMD FX-9590.
The FX-9590 is the latest addition to AMD's FX lineup and takes the clock speed to the 5GHz for the first time. For those looking for something a little more modest, AMD also announced the FX-9370, which is clocked at a mere 4.7GHz."
Apple is garbage for the money. The universality and ease of use of Android brought me back. I bought an unlocked Xiaomi Mi3 off Ebay for a third of the price. Check the specs. It smokes almost every phone out there. The Mi4 has another gb of ram. Fast as hell. I'm never looking back.

|@1 the longest contract is 24 months, not 3 years. The CRTC changed the laws last December (2013)...||
