A 22-year-old individual, who was arrested over cyber-fraud offences in the two previous years, is believed to be linked to the Lizard Squad hacking group responsible for the attacks on Sony’s PlayStation Network and Microsoft’s Xbox Live gaming services during Christmas.
The individual was arrested in the United Kingdom in a raid on his home before being released on bail. The police revealed that the arrest was in connection with an ongoing investigation into cyber-fraud offences between 2013 and 2014, where money has been stolen from the victims’ PayPal accounts. In the meantime, independent security researchers claimed that the arrested individual was Vinnie Omari, who was part of the Lizard Squad hacking group. Apparently, Vinnie is one of the hackers associated with this sad little club who are being rounded up and questioned.
The individual allegedly told the media that the police seized everything – Xbox One, phones, laptops, computer USBs – in a message revealing the search warrant issued by the court but failing to elaborate on the charges and alleged crimes in 2013.
At the same time, the Lizard Squad, dubbed as “a band of young hooligans”, is linked with a series of high-profile DDoS attacks, which prevented legitimate users of the popular services like Sony’s PlayStation Network from connecting to them. In fact, the hackers bombarded the services with bogus connections, thus overloading them and effectively taking them offline, in most cases – until the attack ceases.
The Lizard Squad recently launched a DDoS instrument that can let anyone to carry out similar attacks on targets of their choice, charging from $6 to $500 per attack in Bitcoins.

that the guy
Those DDOS attacks are just mean and not much can be done about some of them.
Now he knows how it feels not being able to play on Xbox live
Not the right person. Just a fake to show the law enforcement people are doing something. I love the lulz
yes ...i 2d john
Glad he's caught But one Brainy Kid to of known how to do cause that problem hey??
I was so pissed off Christmas morning when my sons couldn't get their Xbox one set up. It would be nice if they would just do a few public executions of these jackwads.
Glad they caught him. Did they really think they could get away with this and could launch a service for others to do the same thing? They're not the only ones who can take stuff offline, cause this service of theirs will get shut down as well. Go do something positive with your computer skills. Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should. Piece of cake for me to rob an old lady, but I don't go out and do that either..
Does anyone remember when hackers would stick it to the man or the government and people would applaud them? People were getting screwed by those companies! Now if any major company gets hit or some product/money/government gets delayed or interrupted, the world goes nuts and wants public executions. Ignoring the fact that so many go without so much. You can thank the government for making such pariahs out of these people and crying about losing money and people flock to their side... No one cares about the underdog or anyone getting screwed by corporations thanks to the unending propaganda spewed from tv and movies on how great big business and government is.(except for some protests such as occupy wall street and ferguson). Nobody cares anymore. Watch the news when a protest is being reported and watch the bias flow from the announcers and reporters mouths. Saying people are un american because they want to protest. I am not saying that ruining a kids xmas is ok. I got a xbox 1 for my son for xmas and it was load of shit trying to get on Xbox Live. Anyway Sony is a piece of shit company that has done a bunch of shady things against us the consumers. Remember the root kits on the cds from a few years ago.

He's not an underdog, he's a vandal. Cyber or not I think thieves should have to pay restitution to the victims when caught. First offense straight damages, second offense 2 times damages, third four times damages and so on. Simple sane punishment would be a real deterrent to crime and mitigate damages to the victim.
Just disrupting consoles, that lame kids play.

have become so ingrained in our commercial lives to take the side of the soulless, mindless corporations that run our world? Yeah the guy was using a simple tool to deny service to these corport's web sites-but do we here (everyday people from around the world) condone civil action? We do not realize how little we matter to these corport's-they use our monies to spy, legislate and buy our leaders. Yeah, he was a pisser and baby tools, yet the response was by governments using our dollars to defend corport leeches.
defpro, he can do what millions of people have done in spite of corporations.. simply stop buying products from them I know longer buy anything from Microsoft or Sony many alterative actions exists
I don't condone any hacking or ddos attacks seems more of a snakes way of victory
