The new app of the digital rights group EFF was released only for Android smartphones, because its developers criticized the terms of Apple’s developer agreement. The Alerts app of the Electronic Frontier Foundation will show news on its campaigns and encourage users to take action by sharing it online or emailing politicians.
The EFF developers claimed they could not agree to the outrageous terms in Apple’s Developer Agreement and the company’s DRM requirements, as they are bad for developers and users alike.
For example, the EFF disagrees with Apple’s bar on app makers making public statements about the terms, its ban on reverse engineering and the fact that Apple must approve any releases and can remotely disable applications. What the EFF didn’t like most was the requirement to include digital rights management in its iPhone app. Apparently, most of developers just have to sign the agreement because the Apple App store is a huge market and can hardly be ignored.
At the moment, Apple has over 9 million registered developers for its Mac and iOS platforms and 1.3m apps available on iOS’ App Store. The iOS developers have earned over $20bn so far, with iOS users spending over $10bn on apps and in-app purchases in 2013 alone. But now Apple faces more public criticism of its policies, with the iOS developers pointing to “the rapid decline of Apple’s software”.
In the meantime, other developers went public over approval issues with features in their iOS applications, sparking wider discussion about how the tech giant enforces its App Store policies. Apparently, the EFF continues this debate, being keen to pinpoint the individual clauses that may infringe developers’ digital rights.

I hear now that Microsoft are now offering users of 7 8 and 8.1 free upgrades to 10.. naturally this is to make sure as many people as possible have their app stores installed and the various other controlling systems microsoft now includes. If ever there was a time to switch to Linux now really would be it, trust me, its fantastic. Remember people YOU paid for your machines its up to you what you do with them, not these greedy, controlling, data mining corporations. Demand that schools teach Linux alongside other OS's, encourage creativity in the young, don't stifle them to the whims of the profit for these two giant's. Get it installed on your machine now. Linux for life.
I agree Beolab, if i buy something in cash, it belongs to me, it is not on loan from whoever manufactered or sold it. Mine to do what i wish and want, and not be dictated from MS or Crapple, what i am allowed to do or change or install.
Show the linux alternative for your phone then, as it sits I'm going to be using windows 10 when it hits,,, Im using windows phone 8.1 now and its quite nice, not to mention cortana, and if it is as good on pc as it is for my phone, then thats just fine. I dont care what you use, people have ways around it and can do whatever. Real security is how YOU yourself share and move information, have machines for specific tasks and use them for that task only, and set those machines with different personalities accordingly and realistically in their own vpn.

Proper headline: "EFF Developers Criticized Apple"
@tonymengela. Linux for phones... its called Android, figured most people would know that. Because Android phones are based on the Linux kernel I can use any Linux OS on it, I use Ubuntu. Yes true the tech savvy will always be able to 'get round' the restrictions but that's not the issue here. The issue is 'sheeple', like you say, the ones that 'don't care'. Think about the symbiotic relationship the young now have with their portable devices, phone or tablet, their laughable inability to function for more than five minutes without them . Two gigantic corporations controlling all that information, controlling what is pumped into their heads, what apps can be installed and used. Its as dangerous as the news media who manipulate thinking.
Guys, get over it. Apple owns and control you. They don't like
smart people who Reverse Engineering. You can't even use a
memory card or upgrade the memory, otherwise, Apple couldn't
justify the outrageous high phone prices. By the way guys, I'm
making my own Apple Iphone AC power Adapter (made in the
USA) for under $5 each using cheap made China parts that will
fail within 6 months and jack up the price to $150 each, cause
you're stupid enough to pay overprice for anything. We love your
Apple fans. You're not computer tech or literate. Guys, I'm just
making a point how Apple operates. Oh, please be careful of
the build-in tracking device Apple have inside your Iphones.

@Beolab1700 Is not IOS, OsX, Ubuntu, ANDROID ext all based on UNIX. Go ahead with Ubuntu on your phone. But I like a smart phone that can actually be productive. The big corporations that share our info only share what idiots give them. If your that paranoid then get a $15 phone like I have. Gave my Nexus 5 to my wife so I can track her with Cerberus.

Thats funny Beolab, I cant run linux programs I have on andriod, not compatible Sure it may be BASED off of it but it is not it. Does not matter anyway if you really want to break it down all it is,,is different ways to do math.
@tonymengela I have no problems installing Linux based OS's on Android phones. Ubuntu works like a charm. You can't install Linux software on the current OS, if that's what you mean chap.

I just came off 6 years of apple, why you ask, well cause they were excellent. Im not on windows why you ask cause that's excellent too, I haven't bough into any eco system cause that's not how I roll but as for os sorry tried lynx and I really didn't like all the hoops I had to jump though to get 1 game working, for me pc is the best with windows cause then its just click install lol. Ill stick with windows os for now cause they are excellent for me. But enjoy Linux guys, it that's what you love.

|ps: Linux for phones isn't called android, its the kernel that's linux but slowly google are adding to android and moving it closer away to be their ownership, something I thought you were against Beolab, Obviously your not that concerned with open source if your accepting google ownership in the future rather than apple or Microsoft, all your doing is swapping one beast for another. Lets face it google force android to use their google stuff and not competitors, that's not the definition of open source to me, So gg.||
