A number of companies from various industries have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the issue of online copyright violation. The list of the participants includes Microsoft, Google, MasterCard, anti-piracy group Rights Alliance, a few Internet service providers and many others. The agreement was developed by Denmark’s Ministry of Culture and encourages companies to work together to curb online piracy.
Denmark has introduced a “Code to Promote Lawful Behavior on the Internet”, signed by major companies relating to online entertainment all over the world, including Google, Microsoft, broadcasters, cinema companies and all major Hollywood studios represented by anti-piracy group Rights Alliance. Payment companies including MasterCard and Diners Club and local Internet service providers also joined the agreement.
The aims of the agreement are the following: to make the worldwide web a safer and more legal market, protect copyright, curb financial crime and promote legal products.
As everywhere in the world, copyright owners put pressure on search engines, broadband providers, payment processors and advertisers, encouraging them to disassociate themselves from “criminal enterprises”.
Under the Code, the participants agree not to support criminal activities in any way, including by giving them “exposure” and providing advertising revenue or payment processing services. The involved companies aim to counter that they are associated with economic crime connected with copyright infringement.
The Ministry of Culture of Denmark believes that the agreement will help to create better conditions for growth and innovation for legitimate businesses.

Yeah, how long will it be till every Microsoft 'Update' blocks and/or removes your torrent client from their OS? 'cause its not your OS its Microsoft’s. See what they want, install what they want you to. Total control over the machine you paid for.
"the participants agree not to support criminal activities" this, of course, doesn’t include the "criminal activities" that these huge companies participate in on practically a daily basis.
Was gonna say something, but Beolab1700 seems to have covered it.

If software was cheaper, than there wouldn't be a need to pirate it...Same as everything else...Ans as far as MS...install Linux, forget windows crap. It's just business...why must we pay crazy prices just because someone says so? Bullsh1t...who the heck are they?
Give freedom to torrents. Live and let live.

Enjoy Capitalism, slaves.
@ bm777 "If software was cheaper, than there wouldn't be a need to pirate it" I don't think that's the issue. Maybe the 'issue' is "if people could afford it" there wouldn't be a need to pirate it... seeing as 80% of an annual ( UK ) wage just goes on putting a roof over your head... yet company profits still soar past the 100's of millions.. yay billions a year. If it never rains the wells will run dry.

Typical. Why don't they get together and fight against child p0rn, bigotry and hunger? Oh wait! Because my neighbor's kid just downloaded Call Of Duty 23... "Criminal enterprises" indeed.

@bm777 how about printer drivers can Linux replace windows without problems...Linux songs like a good option of running a good pc bud can be difficult for many reason and crap all not let you run your pc...
@cggc Run a Linux live DVD/USB to determine if you have driver support. I've used ubuntu based disto's for a few years now and have never had any issues with it.. other than I can't play the very latest games until the emulator programs 'play on linux' or 'wine' catch up.
Hands down Linux is the best OS out there... the best for free, go figure.
Linux might have once been the best OS out there, but that's far from true now. It's gone rapidly downhill in the past few years.

#12 thats why microsoft use linux on their servers, right?
make sure you guys keep an eye out for what isp's in your country join this agreement and do not support them. our money is our weapon. choose wisely.
I'm not concerned. I use a Mac, and my laptop is Dual boot Win7 and Ubuntu 15. I will never install Windows 10. I don't care how free it is.
#12 - I humbly disagree with you. I am now on my 5th Ubuntu OS. I am happy to say I've never paid for Win 8, never had a Zune, never bought a Windows phone or tablet. I hated Vista, and loved XP. AHHHH XP, such fond memories on Windows best OS ever. Ubuntu can do everything windows can, except as was already mentioned, play the latest games. However I prefer playing classic games, like Snes and Genesis, etc. Ubuntu works like a dream. I use Libre office, which can do everything MS Office can do and I dont't have an extremely confining legal agreement in order to use it. I can put Libre Office on as many computers as I want. Open source is the future. Also if you don't like Ubuntu, there's plenty of other Linux distributions. I have the gnome desktop installed, so I bounce between Ubuntu's interface and my Gnome interface. If you want your computer to belong to you, and you appreciate your freedom, and you think it's wrong to force people to purchase themselves into digital slavery, and you had Adware, and you hate forced updates in the middle of the night and not knowing what's in the update, THEN INSTALL A LINUX OS IN YOUR COMPUTER.
|Yeh bcus copyright infringement is such an important matter, thank god they came to a conclusion, the survival of the human race may very well depend on it. Now we can all sleep a little bit better at night. Lets give these jackovs a round of applause||
