A few days ago, the largest British ISPs silently added a few domain names to the piracy blocklist – all are proxies and mirrors of previously blocked websites, including us.
So, in the United Kingdom, over 100 sites have been blocked within the past several years for facilitating copyright infringement, and this list is just getting longer. The anti-piracy groups claim that the blocks are effective, at least in preventing users from accessing the domains directly. Of course, there are lots of alternative ways that can be used instead.
First of all, we should mention reverse proxies, which provide people with access to the blocked domains and allow to effectively bypass the restrictions imposed by the court. Of course, the entertainment industry is not happy with this state of things and instructed Internet service providers to add them to the blocklist as well. ISPs had to comply, and a few proxies were added last weekend.
Details on which domains were included to the list are not available, but it seems that all major proxy and mirror websites were affected. Of course, these blocks are only partially effective – as for us, we have become quite experienced at coming up with new proxies and mirrors, and not just in the United Kingdom, but all over the world. The connectivity issues can be solved if you launch a new mirror, so all British visitors are able to visit ExtraTorrent.
So, the fight of the content industry and the file-sharing community continues: rights owners keep adding new domains to the blocklists, website owners hop from domain to domain, and torrent services build new mirrors.

|people should just pay to use a vpn... for how cheap they are now its worth every penny...|
|Sometime ago The UK blocked ET so I was sent a proxysite to use and waaaa laaa I was back on ET! Now that we are in danger of losing the proxy trust.zone is looking pretty good! But for now http://www.1proxy.de, http://www.2proxy.de, http://www.3proxy.de, http://www.4proxy.de, is working great! They have posted that if you get blocked from their regular sites then use these TYPEanythingYOUwant.4proxy.de TryItOut.4proxy.de Whatever.4proxy.de ThisSubDomainIsSeriouslyNotBanned.4proxy.de|
They have 4 NON blocked proxy sites so we in the UK can still get onto ET. BUT I am still looking into geytting trust.zone because im getting a bit tired of all this censorship! Look we PAY for our internet.......its not free! So as a paying customer Im cracking up at all this carryon. So its off to trustzone for me! (I dont mind...especially since it helps ET)
