Internet users who illegally downloaded episodes of the new "Fear The Walking Dead" series got notifications from AMC. No legal strings attached for the targeted file-sharers, the TV channel urges them to stop pirating. Besides, torrent sites are in the crosshairs too.
Fear The Walking Dead accounted for more than 10 million viewers and broke rating records for a series premiere. As it usually happens, this success directly translated to torrent downloads where more than a million people got the first episode quickly after its release. The TV channel couldn’t ignore this unauthorized audience and started to send out notifications to Internet service providers across the US.
AMC wants the file-sharers to remove or delete all illegally obtained copies of the series and never pirate again. The notification messages were sent through AMC’s anti-piracy partner MarkMonitor in the form of DMCA notices.
Aside from users of standard BitTorrent clients and Popcorn Time, AMC also targeted other P2P networks, including eDonkey. The notifications suggest that file-sharing can expose Internet users to great dangers, emphasizing a consumer alert issued by the US Federal Trade Commission a few years ago. The latter warned that illegal file-sharing exposed a home network to dangerous viruses, spyware and identity theft.
However, these kinds of DMCA notices are not dangerous for the file-sharers, because the copyright holder doesn’t know the identity of the alleged pirates. It looks like AMC just hopes that they will deter some from downloading future episodes. Perhaps, the company is right: some users may really panic when they see their downloads flagged.

so its aired on TV then they go after ppl downloading it? lol...
honestly from wat ive been hearing about that show is bad ya alot of people may be watching it, but many keep hoping itll get better and i havent really heard anything good said about this walking dead spin off.
lol so it breaking records is a joke, show me reviews that dont complain about how slow its progressing, who keep praying it'll get better like its predecessor.
IMO, I agree with any bad reviews you may have seen/read about the show. I watched the pilot and quickly deleted it as it is pure garbage.
I had a feeling they would do this, why I grabbed them off private trackers. I could just watch them on TV but then I gotta deal with commercials so much better dl'ing. @Carjacker yeh the pilot did kind of suck but have to figure they had to introduce the characters and whatnot and get the ball rolling. The 2nd episode was pretty good,I'm looking foward to the 3rd episode, really aggravated me it wasn't aired last sunday because of the holiday.

I wont bother d/l ep 1 and go straight to ep 2. I'm sure i will get to know the characters soon enough.
Fear the walking dead? Why? Is there pockets of humans left who welcome them in?
Throw parties for their deathday?
I know they sing Happy deathday to you.
Which in of itself is a copyright violation to sing that in public without paying the rights holder.
UGH what next.

Actually, I was thinking that the original "Walking Dead" was starting to get pretty stale by the end of last season. If they were going to do a spin-off, I think they kind of missed their window. The whole phony outrage over people pirating the first episode of "Fear the Walking Dead" is a desperate attempt to drum up ANY interest in this totally lame ugly redheaded stepchild. Without exception, everyone I talked to about it thought it sucked horribly!! If the major networks have learned anything, it is that you better hit the ground running with a new series if you want to make it to episode #2. By now, all the major content providers have learned how to utilize and manipulate torrents and pirating to their best advantage as a free advertising tool. They learned long ago, pirates only download it because they can't afford to obtain it legally. There is no lost revenue... when is that going to sink in for the alphabet soup that is the copyright mafia? Only a tiny fraction of content is even worth pirating.
Fear the Walking Dead is very good, I don't know, maybe it requires a moderate attention span to enjoy character development before things really kick off.
====!!!!MINOR SPOILER WARNING!!!!====
The first episode of Fear the Walking Dead is the subtle beginnings of the outbreak. The original series skipped all that stuff. It will be nice to see the "how it all began" for LA. Minor gang wars, maybe. A city riot to make themselves easy food targets. LA knows how to do urban anarchy, I want to see it escalate and not skip to the aftermath.
Besides, the dad character is setting up for a pretty nice harem with his girlfriend, her daughter, the ex-wife, maybe this new family. Who knows? The druggy deserves to die and the other son is a pushover so he's zombie fodder. I like his odds.

I also found it very average haven't bothered with ep03
It's the old story: Let's make CD and DVD burners commercially available, bundle them with the ability to copy discs, then sue the crap out of anybody with a "pirated" copy.
If you don't want it copied, why put it in digital form, and stream it? Why give people PVR,TV tuner cards, and access to the software to copy?
CORPORATE LAWYERS :"Can't sue 'em, if they ain't got the tech to do it...so let's make sure we push those burners out to the market, and promote the crap outta - INSERT BURNING SOFTWARE HERE -, then bundle them with JUST ABOUT EVERY DAMN COMPUTER IN THE WORLD!
It'll be an investment."
