Unfortunately, it recently became known that popular torrent release group YIFY and its official YTS site have gone offline forever. It was just a couple weeks ago that the popular movie torrent website YTS became inaccessible. This outage raised concern among many users, partly due to the fact that the website belongs to movie release group YIFY, extremely popular among public BitTorrent service for many years.
Apparently, this reign has come to an end, as YIFY and YTS have shutdown permanently, according to a lot of information that has been made available over the past few days. It was confirmed that the entire operation has stopped, which means that no new official YIFY movie releases will ever appear online. At the same time, the operator of YTS/YIFY remains silent for the last two weeks, making no official announcement and providing no explanation.
The news is an important point for BitTorrent community, as YIFY first arrived on the scene 5 years ago and has shared over 6,000 releases since. Its website (YTS.to) also became very popular, accounting for about one million unique visitors per day, who generated 6 million pageviews according to TF.
Although this shutdown doesn’t mean that online piracy will end anytime soon, it marks one of the most significant changes to the BitTorrent scene in recent history, not least because YIFY releases were among the most-pirated movies all the time.
Two years ago, YIFY attributed this popularity to the presentation and consistency of its releases, saying that its secret was in everything from the consistent movie cover art to the information layout, and even to the file-size of the encodes. All these things were really important because people like stability and assurance with the content they get. By combining consistency with a reasonable file-size, the group has filled a spot in the community showing high demand.
The important moment is that YIFY also played a crucial role as the primary movie supplier for many Popcorn Time forks, so the industry experts are going to estimate the size of the shutdown fallout soon.
At the same time, many people are now being misled by fake YIFY websites, Facebook accounts and impostors who are trying to profit from the confusion.
Here at ET our own Release Group has always been available and delivering all what fans want from small size HD releases to big size Bluray encodes in different popular formats thus our fans won't feel the loss as alternatives are always available for them..

BINGO!!!!! I've said it before, i would rather have a 4 or 5 gb 720 - 1080p encode over a 1.5 squeezed down audio yify encode ANYDAY!!! No great loss in my book....
ET the place to BE!!!

Personally i prefer the 1080p 3.5 - 4.5 DTS releases.
Never followed Yify as the lower sound quality did no justice on the big screen.
But still sad to see another site vanish.
yify was best because it provided more variety, something you dont find with etrg or others. hope they come back with different name
encoding to smaller size is secert????? if No.. How to encode higher size movies to lower... any software for that?
I'm really going to miss YIFY! Not everyone has a big screen with surround sound, a T1 connection, or even an ISP that can provide blistering download speeds, so the small file size options were great. AND... The quality of the downloads, regardless of file size, was ALWAYS excellent! R.I.P. YIFY

First PHD and now YIFY has been gone big lose for bittorrent industry,
But this is not end
it's sad that such iconic release group is gone forever because of the variety of uploads...not just new movies but also lots of encodes of movies that was unavailable to find on public torrent sites, i liked they always wait for real and proper scene releases to make yify encodes, on the other side if video quality were acceptable i didn't liked the ideea they uploaded 720p or 1080p encodes with 92kbps audio, that was just wrong...popularity was also because of advertising yts official website and lots of users more that 70 procent downloaded content directly from there

yify-movie.com not sure is same owners but layout looks the same
All the best for the future Yify, see u on the other side

YIFY appears to be alive and well at yts.ag
But no new encodes from a week or so.
YIFY is/was Evergreen person goodluck YIFY !!!

Hollywood studios have shut down a huge global piracy website being run from a house in suburban Mt Wellington.
Local representatives of the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) revealed the unnamed owner of the operation was the subject of a multi-million lawsuit lodged with the High Court on October 12.
The lawsuit was settled out of court and studios are declining to identify the New Zealander who ran the operation - called YTS - and the associated outfit - called YIFY.
According to the MPAA the Mt Wellington house was the base for one of the world's most prolific groups involved in the illegal replication of copyrighted content offering over 4500 infringing movie titles online.
Due to the secrecy over the deal the Herald has been unable to reach the man and get his version of events, but the closure of YTS is the biggest ever action against a movie pirating operation In New Zealand.
YTS "existed for the sole purpose of distributing motion pictures on a massive scale online while providing illicit profits to the operator of the website," said Matthew Cheetham, managing director for the New Zealand Screen Association, the local representatives of the MPAA.
He said the Mt Wellington operation distributing movies by bit torrent technology was substantial in global terms.
Mr Cheetham said that studio's investigations found there were 3.4 million unique visitors for the New Zealand website in August and 43 million views, though he declined to say how this was collated.
Many of the movies distributed on the internet by bit torrent technology were Hollywood blockbusters.
But Mr Cheetham says there have also been a lot of piracy for New Zealand titles funded by taxpayers that will have restricted returns to the local filmmakers.
Among the biggest, with 277,000 downloads, was "What We Do In The Shadows" - the vampire comedy by Taika Waititi.
A UK / New Zealand co-production with taxpayers money - Slow West - had 663,000 illegal downloads.
Mr Cheetham declined to speculate on how much the Mt Wellington operation would earn from distributing movies.
The Motion Pictures Association of America action is linked to the closure of the Popcorn Time site in Canada and is being claimed as big win for the MPAA.
Mr Cheetham said the MPAA started investigations on the New Zealand bit torrent 18 months ago and initially it was assumed that the operation was being run out of Eastern Europe, which is recognised as a global centre of film pirating.
"We were very surprised it was being run out of house in Mt Wellington," he said.
According to the bit torrent news website Torrent Freak on November 4, the status of the lawsuits in Canada and New Zealand is currently unclear.
"But sources told us last week that several of the accused are working on an agreement to minimise their harm, possibly in exchange for information."
BitTorrent is a protocol for the practice of peer-to-peer file sharing that is used to distribute large amounts of data over the Internet.

YIFY Torrents were being uploaded from a house in New Zealand.
#RIP YIFY and YTS. Your high quality rips will float on torrents for decades to come
Rare I used them some movies are best in 5.1 everything they ripped was 96kbs Stereo

looks the same BUT
it will not let me log-in/on or join with new account.
TorrentFreak sez it's fake.
I have downloaded several current movies without incident.
What is fake about that ?
Probably just dumped the torrents that are already available on many of there accounts
It could be due to the rise of another format called h265 which delivers high quality at a small size.

you guys r totally right. .....all of you, i agree.
Now people can finally realize there were other encoders of greater quality all along.
I would fill the gap if you all wanted to ensure my safe harboring and all that website techy stuff - I know how to do the encodes myself, and know how to do them better for both video and audio.
Oh, hey, by the way - all you carpers out there sniveling about file sizes get the SD 400p bluray rip x264 file. I swear on my bean bag those look pretty much the same at full screen as the YIFY 720p's. YIFY 720p's were not really "720p." Bla bla bla dimensions schmimensions. 1080p and 720p are suppose to be a label of picture quality, not so much image size. YIFY putting 1080p or 720p on their vids was blasphemy yet most of you would not know that because you've been feeding off YIFY for the past few years and think that's what HD looks like. Nope. Sorry. You have been missing out on a lot of HD detail, bud. YIFY 720p was no better than an upscaled DVD which is about the same as a really well made 400p upscaled by your television's hardware. Hence, get the standard resolution bluray rip if you're so crimped on bandwidth.
i hear on eztv that it's up and running again who's right and who's wrong #0#~!!
Why do you bother coming here to say fake shit about something that will not ever coming back?
Stop misleadind ppl saying the .ag domain is working....Its a fake every1 just go to torrent freak the YTS team stoped encoding/uploading movies for good, its sad but thats how it is.
PS: if i was a mod id definitely delete that comment.
yify-movie.com and yts.ag are both operational.
KINGDOM is here and will always be here.

but missing YIFY...
THANKs for everything you gave...
But to the disappointment of all YTS and YIFY fans, the above site is a fake. It’s located at yts.ag and it’s being promoted by the same people who carried out a hostile takeover of EZTV earlier this year. That's 2 for 2 this year. EZTV and YIFY, bummer deal for sure.
EZTV is up and running.
I usually prefer a Juggs or Sam 700 MB XVID file because I can play them on my Android tablet with VLC. They look great on a 7 inch screen and you can store 40+ movies on a 32 GB Micro SD. A YIFY 700MB file was often my 3rd choice, but sometimes they didn't play so well. Having said all that, it is a shame that YIFY will be gone. There are a lot of my fellow military personnel that swear by YIFY on a laptop. There aren't a lot of choices to view American movies when you are stationed overseas to begin with. This will result in one less choice. VERY SAD!!! Not to mention the lousy timing, Happy Veterans Day from the douchebags at the MPAA, and thank-you for your service.
What a pity!
So so sad. YIFY was the first name I would look for in movie downloads. You will be sorely missed YIFY. *sobs*
First EZTV and now YIFY. Sad times indeed.
