The tech giant announced that it has resolved an issue with Safari web browser that caused it to suddenly crash for many users of Apple devices all over the world. People had found the app crashing and returning them to the home screen after Safari search bar was used to browse the web.
Numerous complaints recently appeared in social networks, though not all users were affected by the problem. The company recommended those who are still having issues with Safari on iPhone, iPad and Mac to clear their website data from within the settings app in order to complete the fix.
As you know, Safari is Apple’s own built-in web browsing application that arrives pre-installed on its devices. There were hundreds of users who reported the problem, complaining that their Safari app crashed every time they tried and typed in the search bar. The users also said that they had deleted data and updated operating system, but it didn’t help.
It turned out that the issue was related to Safari’s search suggestions feature that offers users potential searches depending on what they begin to type. Despite the fact that there has been no further confirmation from Apple, the company seems to have managed to quickly issue a fix for the bug. By the way, the fix comes less than a day after Apple’s latest financial results, where the company posted record profits but warned that iPhone growth is expected to decline for the first time in its history in the second quarter of 2016.
Apple was not the only company that brought problems to users last week: for example, Twitter also suffered service problems when the microblogging service went down for more than 6 hours because of a problem with the code that runs the service.
