It turned out that the FBI did target the secure email service Lavabit specifically to spy on Edward Snowden. A few years ago, the founder of the email service Ladar Levison was served a sealed order that forced him to help the FBI in its surveillance of Edward Snowden.
Lavabit, the email service that accounted for 410,000 users, was founded on a basis of private communications secured by encryption. Its creator was ordered to install a surveillance package on his servers and to provide the encryption keys to enable the FBI to read the most secure messages. Moreover, Ladar Levison was ordered not to disclose this fact to anyone. The service owner spent more than a month on legal fighting, a court appearance, subpoena and appeals, and then decided to shut down Lavabit saying that he doesn’t want to be “complicit in crimes against the US people”.
It’s been more than two years, and now it is clear that Edward Snowden did use that email service for his secure communications. It has just been made clear that the reason the Federal Bureau of Investigation forced Lavabit to shut down was to spy on Snowden. Transparency organization Cryptome published documents obtained from the federal court, proving that [email protected] was the intended target of the action against the email service. The information was released after legal action from the email service creator, who has been trying to lift himself from his order of silence and tell the world what really happened. Finally, in December 2015, the court allowed to release the files within the case, including the identity of the subscriber redacted. According to the documents, Snowden’s email address was left unredacted. Although Ladar Levison is still under order of silence, the redaction error has confirmed the leaker of the NSA files was the target.

|Kudos to the service provider Ladar Levison for having the integrity to show them by closing down rather than bend over to the man and then lose all his business through people having no confidence in his name or company,I am pretty sure that knowing his fellows Modus operandi at the NSA Ed Snowden would have been using various forms of messaging and encryption from day 1 and not have been likely to depend solely on one email address during the months and now years on the run. |NSA what does that stand for? Nihilistic Sociopaths Agency? jk or am i. we know that morality, decency, ethics shall not stay the NSA in the performance of its primary objective and goals, keeping the secrets of the government, a slowly separating entity from the desires of its constituents, (the people).|
Here is how you often can tell the right choice from the wrong choice, the right thing is almost always harder to do, unless you've had a great deal of practice, a lifetime then it becomes much more difficult to do wrong.
I say we continue to be unable to reign in the NSA, to encourage its bad behavior through turning a blind eye to it's narcissistic infantile conduct. Knowledge is power, Knowledge or data collected without warrant or moderation is the NSA.
No way they can convince me that right is wrong and wrong is right, an intelligent man like Snowden couldn't work for the NSA knowing what he was given access to, that shows the faults in the NSA on soo many levels.
This bureaucratic government entity bloat and separation is more of a childish legal plausible deniability loop hole. The concept that the right hand couldn't know what the left hand was doing, we live in an age of non-accountability. The masses willingly swallow garbage again and again in youthful or willful ignorance, and the same type of thinking is revisited on us again and again. Thank Goodness for ET and little rays of light in the darkness!
|They were helping a traitor, no wonder the government went after them. They should have charged the asshole running it with being his accomplice|

|@3-what are you doing on a torrenting site? In some peoples books of synonyms, Government is Big Business so aren't you being a traitor by doing so, or are you just another sycophantic pissant with an overblown 'slave mentality'?|

|@3 i hate you.|
|NSA = true terrorists at work|
|Principals and someone who had them. We see less and less of them.|
Before long they shall be gone along with any illusions of freedom.
Welcome to the future.
|@3: You must work for the NSA.|
Quote from Ed Snowden:
I understand that I will be made to suffer for my actions, and that the return of this information to the public marks my end.
I will be satisfied if the federation of secret law, unequal pardon, and irresistible executive powers that rule the world that I love are revealed for even an instant.
If you seek to help, join the open source community and fight to keep the spirit of the press alive and the Internet free.
I have been to the darkest corners of government, and what they fear is light.
He is a hero!
|You think John Oliver has skills beyond the CIA? Maybe they should get him to do some training courses for their agents if he is capable of so easily finding Snowden yet the CIA failed so utterly.||
